  1. I gave it a quick look on my way out the door to work this morning and it looks like the JB Weld is going to work. I pulled on the bracket and it seemed pretty solid. The real test will be once it is back on the bars and going down the road.
  2. That is what I was thinking. The case was really cracked. Bottom completely broken. I think maybe someone walked by and deliberately hit it. That case is pretty thick ABS plastic not prone to breakage of this sort.
  3. So I was out working on the Venture this afternoon doing some minor maintenence for the ride to Oberlin. Tightened up the steering head, check air tire pressure, make sure no cuts in the tires, add some air to the shock. I had noticed my radio/cb was loose. So I when I went to tighten the screws on the bottom of the radio....they were not loose. The case was all cracked. So I took the mirror off so I could get a better look and when I did, the bracket for the radio and the case fell apart. Ohhhhhhh Yamaha. Why, why, why? So after looking it over and coming to the conclusion that it is pretty much shot, I busted out the JB weld. It is now sitting and hardening. I will put it all back together tomorrow and see how long it lasts.
  4. That very well be what is wrong with mine. Your not going to just buy a different pump and mount it on. What is kind of scary also is the quality of the welds on the lift. Some of them are pretty bad. I wish I would have looked around before I purchased mine. But thanks for posting the video. I will check mine out and see if I can do this repair. It would have been nice if the guy would have said what brand and model pump he bought for parts.
  5. Yeah, the RSV is a heavy bike and the quality of the lift is not there. I know others will chime in and say they have no issues, but those lifts are heavy, bulky and not easy to return. Besides.....who wants to go through that? Mine is sitting in the garage unused, still not working. Everytime I look at it I swear at it and throw something at it. Maybe I will try and repair the pump myself. Maybe convert it to an air cylinder........maybe cut it up with my torches.
  6. I bought on last year..........I was able to lift my 07 RSV 3 times before the pump went out. They do not stock replacement pumps at the store and those tables are pretty heavy to lug back to the store for a complete exchange if you spend the money on the warranty. I did not, but I did manage to get them to send a new pump. It took 6 months to get it. I think they had a refugee smuggle it in on a slow boat from China. That one lifted the bike one time. Save your money and check out ebay. Spend an extra 200 bucks or so and get a good table. I know I wish I would have. I will never buy another high dollar product from them again. They sell mostly junk.
  7. I am planning on getting a Harley Ultra Classic CVO or an Indian Roadmaster (both used) in two to three years. Yamaha can keep their new bike if they do happen to come out with one.
  8. Well....being as I am not retired...I work Monday thru Friday so AGAIN PUCKSTER......I won't be making it. Man I tell ya.....Some peoples kids.
  9. Personally, I would stay away from anything with a Briggs and Stratton motor. My last tractor had that in it. JUNK. I ended up buying a 54 inch Cub Cadet with a Kawasaki motor and a fabricated deck, Man that thing flies.
  10. You can name it "Heyou"...........that's American Indian for I don't know what the hell to name you.
  11. Hey congrats on the "New" bike brother! Hope to see it in a few weeks at Maintainance Day!
  12. Outstanding gentlemen !! Looking forward to see everyone !
  13. I have kicked around mini apes for my 07. It would be nice to see them in person on maintainence day.......:whistling:
  14. Usually there is a group of us that meet earlier in the morning down around there off of Dixie Hwy at the TA. But we are on the road by 9am or so. I am taking a day off of work to go, so I will be leaving earlier than 11am.
  15. I used to do the Michigan Midnight Ride in August. There were Goldwings with so many lights on them they looked like UFO's going down the road. This on guy did a pretty neat trick. He spotfaced holes about 1/2" in diameter about half the thickness of the windshield deep. Polished those spotfaces out so they were clear and ran led's along the base of the windshield inside the fairing. Those spots all lite up. Pretty trick.
  16. I agree with you Jay, them thar 1st Gens be ugly. But too each their own. As far as lights, depends on the State you live in as to what is legal. I do know a few guys with Goldwings with leds that change color. Look cool, but if they turn red, yellow or blue and a cop see it, they get pulled over. As far as clear in the front and red in the back, heck only way too much is it looks gaudy. I have thought about adding some lower running lights to the front and getting red led strips for between the fender and saddle bags that would come on when applying the brakes.
  17. You gotta be talking about puckster.............
  18. I need some touch up on my fairing. Lost a little bit in the torrential rain storm on the way home from last years Maintainence Day.
  19. So will you miss her much??? The wife that is......not the trike.
  20. Those definitely look like stock pipes. I can see the mounting screw underneath and the open taper cover at the clamp end.
  21. Happy Anniversary you two love birds. Many more to come.
  22. Why assume that? I cover a lot of road in Michigan every year.
  23. I own a blue Venture and I can confirm that it was not me.
