  1. Gotta pay for that national healthcare some how. We will be in the same boat here the way things are going.
  2. Ummmmm, yes they do. I have had my cars insured with AAA since 1990 and both bikes since 2009 when I purchased them.
  3. I have AAA. Not sure of the coverage numbers but I know that I have a lot of coverage. Way more than the basic. Both bikes, full coverage is right about $550 for both.
  4. Attempted murder by the cager. Pure and simple. Biker has every right to let a driver know they are an idiot and that does not give a cager the right to try and run a bike off the road.
  5. No suspension? Going to bounce like crazy going down the road. Plus that tongue looks way too short. I give it a "C" for creativity and an "F" for execution.
  6. If you have never rode in the San Fransico area before.......your not going to like the traffic.
  7. Also, grab the bottom side of the gas tank with your left hand and lift up. I prefer not to lift up on the tank or any painted surface.
  8. When your on the bike.............turn the bars all the way to the right.........then lift up off of the side stand. Try it. As far as low speed maneuvering.....use the rear brake to adjust speed, keep rpms up around 1800 to 2000 and use the clutch to distribute power.
  9. My attendance depends upon whether I have a bike or not. We'll see.
  10. Been kicking it around for about a year or so. I maybe putting the 07 and trailer up for sale. Seems to be a big gap in price range from what I can see for a Venture with 50k on it. Gotta see what the trailer is worth also. I may do a combo price or may sell separately. Not sure just yet.
  11. I am not complaining about the bike. Actually I am happy they finally did update it. I love the idea of the vtwin, I just do not like the styling of the bike. I was VERY disappointed in the direction that they went with. I personally like the "Classic" look as I call it of the 2nd Gens and the Harley and even the Roadmaster even though the are pushing the styling on that away from what I like. I am starting to consider another scoot and more than likely it will be the Indian. Had Yamaha stayed with the classic look, I would be looking at it very closely. As it stands, I won't even take one for a demo ride.
  12. I really do not think the new one will sell. I also believe one of the reasons Victory did not make it was that their bikes looked terrible. I mean really? Victory Vision? Did a blind man design that ugly duckling? And the Cross Country Tour was not much better with those dinky little turn signals and sharp triangle lines. Indian is trying but they need to drop the price of their basic Roadmaster by about 4 grand to be competitive with HD. I personally think the looks of the new Venture looks like poo poo ka ka. They completely dropped the ball on the redsign. Again, just my opinion. I do wish Yamaha the best of luck. I hope I am wrong and they sell a bazillion of them, but I just do not think it will sell.
  13. Again, you fail to see what I am saying. The Ventures do not sell. V4 does not sell. They are grasping at straws to stay in the market. As far as them listening, I think the only thing they did that so many did not ask for was the motor. But again...it does not sell. The Strat....that bike is a joke. As far as what you see on your side of town pucster..I cannot say. But I will say this..I just did a 3 day ride here in Michigan. 1300 miles total between upper and lower penninsula Know how many Ventures I saw?....other than mine?.. .one. My point is and has been all along. Poeple wanted a new Venture, wanted it for years. And when they got it, they complain. Funny thing is, most of those whining......have no intentions of buying a new bike. Myself, my 07 is the last Yamaha I will own. I am jumping ship to probably Indian.
  14. 1. So you all are faulting them for halting production to fix a problem??? Really?????? Maybe they should go ahead and run production and then issue a recall like another manufacturer does ?????????? 2. FOR THE LOVE OF PETE AND ALL THAT IS SACRED.........GET OVER IT!! They redesigned the bike, gave to the consumer what was asked for and you still whine like little babies. The V4 platform DID NOT SELL...if it did, there would be more Ventures on the road.
  15. I am just waitning for another year then pulling the trigger on an Ultra Classic CVO or an Indian Roadmaster. The new Venture is just plain butt ugly.
  16. So sad that there is actually a Venture sighting thread. Hopefully the new Venture will change that and we will see them all over the place.
  17. Caltric has them fairly cheap. The Dennis Kirk is the one I put in my bike. Mitsubishi pump, exact same as stock on the bike. Plug and play. Some have jerry rigged automotive pumps. Personally, I like the removal of the one screw that holds the strap that wraps around the pump, pull of the two hoses and unplug it. Reverse the process and your done. 15 minute job. I am not one for jerry rigging stuff just to save a few bucks. Personally, if I buy a used bike and the first time I have to work on it and see something what is described in this forum thread......that bike will be put up for sale asap. I bought the Dennis Kirk pump and I also bought the Caltric pump (28 bucks) and put it in the saddle bag just incase. Check ebay for both. But if you like playing backyard Barney the jerry rigger, by all means save a few bucks, create more work for yourself and jerry rig away.
  18. But what about the heat???? It looks to be air cooled.
  19. Adding that much rise ...I would be willing to bet that there is not enough slack in the wiring to move the controls that much. I know on my wifes Honda 750 there was not enough and I hade to splice in the extra wire. You may want to really look at that before you buy anything.
  20. Exactly my thoughts. What led up to ticking the biker off to make him kick the door? I know I have gotten off of my scoot more than once and had to educated a cager on driver etiquette. You try and run me off the road, that is a threat to my life. My response just may come in a .40 cal round. I take that kind of horse hockey very seriously.
  21. Harley Davidson Ultra Limited, Ultra CVO or an Indian Roadmaster.
  22. I do not believe the vast majority of riders put this kind of mileage on their bikes. Maybe a VERY small percentage so I think that concern is unfounded.
  23. Ask any Harley owner. I have about 800 miles of seat time on rented Harleys. I rented one in South Dakota and rode to Mt. Rushmore and surrounding areas putting over almost 300 miles on it that day. It was in the mid 90's....I got stuck in some nasty traffic in Rapid City.....sat in one spot for almost 30 minutes with the bike running. It was hot, but not unbearable. All of you guys are blowing this air cooled thing WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of proportion.
  24. I am licensed to conceal carry. And I do. I carry not to impose my will onto anyone else. I carry to keep others from imposing their will onto me. Times are changing and it is just a matter of time before what you see in other countries happens here in the States. I refuse to be a victim. As far as some of our Canadian friends loving all of their free Socialist benefits....it comes at a price. TAXES. Not going to get all political on the forum as politics and religion are not to be discussed. As far as firearm availability and the right to keep and bear arms. It is our right to do so in the GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMRICA and for that, I offer no apologies whether asked for or not.
  25. Ok, this is my .02 cents worth on the new VENTURE. First off.....I give Yamaha props for coming out with a new model. Long over due. I personally am not even going to consider this as a future bike for me. That decision has nothing to do with the V-twin. I actually love the fact that they went this route. It has nothing to do with the fact they went belt drive. I could not care less about that. The reason I will not buy one is the styling. I like what I refer to as the classic look. They went away from that. Had they kept that styling, I would be placing an order for one as soon as it is available. Did the first or Second Gens have built in GPS? Nope.....did they have Satellite radio? Nope......Did they have a 6 speed trans? Not sure about the First Gens, but the Second Gen? Nope......how about two riding modes? Nope......Did they have heated grips? Nope......Did they have heated seats? Nope......Did they have adjustable bars? Nope........Did they have a security system? Nope......They listened. AND it is still a VENTURE contrary to some individuals thinking. Why would they go to a V-Twin??? Well.......just how well did the Second Gens sell? I do not hardly see any on the road. So obviously it was not working out to well and was time for CHANGE. Go to a Harley, Victory or Goldwing forum........tell me if they have threads for sightings for those bikes. No they don't......why? Because they sell. The Venture does not sell. The V4 is a great motor, but it does not sell. Yamaha is in the market to make money, not design and sell a bike for the few, but to sell to the many. Will they sway a large number of Harley owners to their doorstep? No. But they may get some Goldwing and Victory owners that like the "modern" styling of this scoot. If the V4 is what so many like and want......why do so many still own 30 year old First Gens? Why did a large number of you never buy the Second Gen? If you truly love the brand, you would have supported the brand at some point and not still be riding 20 plus year old bikes. I just do not get the thinking, the slamming of Yamahas effort. Am I disappointed? Yeah to a certain amount, but this new scoot has ALOT of bang for the buck. I think that once this is debuted at the International Bike Shows it will draw some crowds and it will sway some people to buy one. I personally hope Yamaha does well with this new Venture. Now, I am not trying to ruffle any ones feathers or trying to get their shorts into a twist but I sat back for the last two days and read the comments and could only think about how so many here on this forum wanted and waited for years for a new Venture only to be disappointed at no new bike....year after year, pissed and moaned about the cassette deck and the only change from year to year was the color and when Yamaha does come out with a new bike all you do is piss and moan. After all this I had to speak up. It has actually gotten to the point that I really do not want to even come to this forum anymore. I come here to get away from the stress and BS of daily life only to see it running rampant here. I think it maybe time I take a break from Ventureriders for awhile. Peace brothers and sisters.
