  1. I recall a certain German auto maker having a problem with brake lines. NHTSA ordered an investigation into the excessive corrosion the brake lines were experiencing. The response from the German auto maker was "We have investigated the complaints and there is nothing wrong with our brake lines. The air in America is to acidic and that is causing the problems." So it is no surprise there is nothing wrong with Metzler tires. It is probably the roads in America. German engineering. Mike
  2. I am not so sure you have a problem. If you get a chance to attend a meet and eat do so. See if you can get another member to listen and confirm if all is well or not. Mike
  3. Are you getting a vibration or noise? Or both. These bikes are not the quietest things in the world. Clutch out, in neutral, at idle it is not unusual the hear some noise. The question will be if it is excessive or not. Mike
  4. Metzlers are engineered in Germany. As such they cannot possibly have a flaw. German engineering does not allow for flaws. Therefore anything going wrong such as this has to be the fault of the owner or installer. That's just the way it is. If you don't believe me, ask Metzler Mike
  5. Sweet. How many horsepower? Does it have a kick starter? We need specs. Mike
  6. I wasn't so upset about getting a bad on. It Can happen to anybody. What I didn't like was Dyna couldn't fix it and refused to replace it. I ended up putting it in a box and sending it to Dyna's president with a little note explaining how much I enjoyed his product. Never heard back. Mike
  7. Had one. Made my bike run like crap. Sent it back to Dyna. Mike
  8. It is not an assault platform. It might be an AR platform but lets get assault out of our terminology. Mike
  9. What Cowpuc said plus make sure the modification to the trunk mounting has been completed. Mike
  10. Yes. That is why Harley, Indian and Victory are doing so poorly. Very wise of Yamaha to flee this market. Mike
  11. 08 Venture won't even care about the mix. Might even like getting a little upper end lubrication. Mike
  12. You might want to check your starter relay. If you are getting a faint click the ignition switch circuit may be working. The relay itself may be faulty. Mike
  13. From your description not holding a charge with the bike off may or may not be the battery. Unhook the battery cables when parking the bike for a couple of days. If the battery looses it's charge it is the battery. If it holds it's charge then look for a fault (parasitic drain) in the bike. Lets not overcomplicate this. Mike
  14. Yamaha will not make a move until they have lost their entire customer base and someone is looking around asking. What Happened. Mike
  15. I agree with Dunlop and I go even further. In my opinion tube type tires are more subject to blow out than tubeless. With a large bike like my Venture I would not care to experience a violent blow out at highway speed. Mike
  16. Perhaps but here is the thing. Are you still running the exact same tires that came on the bike? Mike
  17. What does it say on the tire sidewall? Mike
  18. Corey. What you are saying is true. But I only use critical parts such as oil and air filters that are designed and specified for my car engine. Unlike the Purolator oil filters which Purolator recommends not be used for motorcycles. I have no problem with aftermarket accessories on motorcycles or automobiles. But why use an oil filter when the manufacturer of the filter recommends against it? Others can and I wish them the best but I will pass. I am not trying to slam you or anything it is just my opinion. Mike
  19. I ran across this on the Michelin site. 4. Check inflation pressures on both tires at least once a month, before riding, when tires are cold (at ambient temperature). Riding even for a short distance causes tires to heat up and air pressure to increase. DO NOT BLEED AIR FROM HOT TIRES. Mike
  20. I don't know if that is normal or not. Is the weather hot? Is the roadway very hot? If they are not then the heat build up may be due to tire squirm, the internal parts of the tire working against each other. Normal or not? I don't know. Rear tire on front. Perhaps. Still don't know. Will higher or lower initial air pressure reduce this fluctuation? Still don't know but I would probably try a slightly higher initial setting over a lower one. You might also send a note to Michelin and see if they have any reaction. This is a very interesting thread. So if you do find out what is going on please post back. Mike
  21. This whole thread is baffling. Mike
  22. After reading the comments about Windows 10 I went ahead and downloaded it. After my Windows 7 computer auto loaded sp1 it would hardly run. Windows 7 Sp1 is the worst virus I ever got. It slowed my computer to a crawl. Made it take 30 minutes to get fully turned on. Explorer crashed every time I went to use it. It is just miserable. And I have a quad 4 computer with high speed DSL. Once installed you can't get Sp1 fully removed either. Crap. I bought a replacement computer with Windows 8 and promptly sent it back. Needless to say I am no longer a fan of automatic upgrades or Microsoft for that matter. So I downloaded Windows 10. Might as well see if it helps. And it does. But I have some issues with it. First I am forced to upgrade due to Windows 7 Sp1. so I am already unhappy. Most of my programs are still there but getting some to work was a pain in the spare tire. My games folder was emptied and now Microsoft wants to charge for this. Microsoft wants me to roll over to Edge which I don't want. It is not possible to stop automatic downloads. UGH. I really hate this. Microsoft claims Windows 10 is a service so automatic updates are required. Hmmm All of this got me thinking. What is Microsoft up to? If Windows 10 is a service then how long before Microsoft starts requiring a monthly payment? Similar to what Photoshop is doing now. What if they decide to end support for Windows 10 users unless monthly payments are made. Failure to do so and their service ends. Your computer shuts down. Does this explain Microsoft's zeal in auto loading Windows 10 in peoples computers or their giving it away for free. Microsoft does very little for free. Just My Thoughts Mike
  23. I just have to much time and effort invested in my bike to be trying to save a few bucks on oil filters. I ordered a half dozen from Yamaha. When those run out I will get more. Mike
