  1. At the HUGE risk of being chastised here...I leave my key in the ignition when I go into eat or stop at a bike shop or even at gas stations. (Note I live in a small town). The stealth key allows me to leave it in the ignition for conveinence (to me, not a theif) and although it is FAR from foolproof, you do have FIND it and/or figure it out. It has worked well for me and my previous bike that I owned for 7 years I used a stealth key...was never a problem. I figure if someone wants the bike bad enough...they're gonna get it one way or another (even if I do make it a little easier). Wally
  2. What do you mean? Basically its a key that has a fake ignition painted on the top of it. You slide your blank key into a slot on the bottom and JB Weld it in and then when it is in your bike...it looks KINDA like there is no key in the bike. The stealth key is NOT intended to keep in the bike when unattended. That's pretty much it. Wally
  3. I almost bought it at the same time to balance out the sides...but decided to wait until I get the clock first. I assume (common sense)...that the thermometer would be good for ambient temperatures only and would be effected by wind, rain, and direct sunlight...but still neat to have I guess.
  4. OK...just ordered one of the switch housing clocks. I tried to call, but got an answering machine... I went ahead and ordered because this video cleared up a lot for me. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZwowJljqRk]YouTube- Switch Housing Mount Install Video[/ame]
  5. I am going to install my risers this weekend, but I went to AutoZone and bought a package of Booster Coil Rubbers (4 in a package) and will build the original risers up using these. I plan to epoxy the rubbers together to make them high enough to add support.
  6. I am gonna call Clocks4Bike in a few minutes to ask about the switch housing clock. I'll let you know what they say. Wally
  7. I think I qualified my question by stating the location of my Zumo.
  8. The Clock4Bikes clocks do not have to be hardwired, they work off a second battery I think.
  9. I don't have a dog in this hunt...but did find this over at youtube. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq263AYgyYg]YouTube- DynaBeads demo video by Evolution Cycles[/ame]
  10. Painter man...are you talking about the switchhousing mount. That one does look interesting...if this is the one you have, can you tell me how it looks and how far out it sticks? Here is the switch housing mount: http://www.clocks4bikes.com/Switch_Housing_Mount_Clock.html Thanks, Wally
  11. I did see that one...and it looks great, but at $76 bucks, I would want to know if anyone else has this clock and where on the bar they have it. I would like to put it up close to the bend (nearest to the grips). Thanks though. Wally
  12. Just curious...I know that there is a CLOCK in the tripmeter area, but it is hard to get to for just a glance. And I have my Zumo 660 hanging out over the gas cap. I have looked at the "Formotion" Clocks, however none of them will work because of the curves in the bars. I was hoping to find a nice clock to put somewhere near the right side brake reservoir, or near the handlebar controls... Let's see some "innovative" clock placements please. Thanks, Wally
  13. I'm no electrician, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, and I STILL don't know what the hell ya'll are talking about.
  14. Keep me posted CB...and welcome to the Zumoforums...more information on that thing then I can handle. LOL Wally
  15. Also...where did you get your +2 cables? Did you use the steel cables or are there OEM +2" models. Wally
  16. Was the Throttle cable the only one you changed? Thanks, Wally
  17. I am just trying to get a handle on how many users have had problems with their throttle cables either being too short or too tight after installing risers (Baron's or other). Yes, I know that Baron's says longer cables are not needed, but I have read through enough posts to see that there is some sort of problem. I plan on getting these risers from this eBay seller: Polished Risers I think I prefer these because they are polished, where the Baron's looked brushed. Anyway, I am trying to figure out if I should just go ahead and order a longer throttle cable... Thanks.
  18. Ahhhh...da Blue Whale. Been to it several times. Love the Route!!!
  19. Yep...very hard to get a hold..almost like a "controlled" drug. Anyway...drop some mercury at a hospital and you'll see LOTS of people scrambling or drop some on a Navy ship...and you'll see EVEN MORE chaos. LOL (Don't ask me how I know this).
  20. Pretty cool. I stopped it just before the missle hit. COOL looking missle too. Sucka was fast!!
  21. I thought I remembered someone saying that when they needed a shorter kickstand, they were able to use a kickstand off of a Tour Deluxe or other model of Star motorycle... I searched and cannot find the thread. Does anyone know that if you can an alternative kickstand as opposed to shortening the OEM stand? Thanks, Wally
  22. About 3/4 of the way down you'll see how I mounted my GPS. My GPS Mount http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44500
  23. Sure...here are a few pics of how the zumo looks where I installed it. Two things to note...I got the mounting ring from Kuryakn and it works very well...and the reason I picked this option to put my Zumo was because it requires me ONLY to look down to look at the Zumo and secondly, the Brake Resevoir mount (which I did try) exposed the Zumo to the elements and directly in the wind...this is more protective of the Zumo. The last two pictures shows the handles bars straight which shows more closely how it looks when you are riding. Here are the pics.
  24. I finally (over the last couple of days) was able to get out and put a few miles on the bike. I actually now have over 200 miles (WHOOPEE), not bad for a guy that averages about 8000 miles a year...I'll catch up though. So I was out today and shot a couple of pictures, I guess they all look similar so nothing earth shattering here...I think you might be able to see my Zumo 660 in one or two of the pics. I beefed the pics up a little though...since most of the ventures look the same. Wally
  25. I hate that crap!
