  1. Steve, This dreaded disease is all too familiar to me and my family. I lost a mother, brother, and a baby sister to different kinds of cancer and I know the pain, suffering, and agony it can bring to the person as well as those waiting by the beside. No words are sufficient, but know this, that I will pray for you and your loved ones in this your greatest challenge. I believe that He, who holds tomorrow, will give you the strength to go through today and the days to come. All the best brother.
  2. You could have a problem if you let all the smoke out of the system.
  3. Took the words right out of my mouth. Newer doesn't make it better.
  4. :whistling::icon_lurker: :stirthepot: I thought surely this topic would arouse someone's attention. I'm a little let down.:think:
  5. IMHO, don't waste your money.

    Fuel Pump

Ray, contrary to popular belief, you can run the RSV without the fuel pump so long as you bypass the pump and connect the line from the tank to the carb fuel line manifold. You will need to also disconnect the power to the fuel pump as a safety measure so it doesn't spurt out any remaining fuel that may be left in the pump and lines if it intermittently starts back up. You may can do this by pulling the fuel pump wiring coupler from the wiring harness. You wouldn't want fuel on a hot exhaust!! When the fuel pump on my 09 started acting up intermittently, I bypassed my pump, filled the tank, and ran it for 100 miles to the dealer for replacement and it never missed a beat. V7Goose had told me beforehand that this would work, so I tried it, and now if I'm ever caught away from home and the pump goes bad, I know what to do. You just need to keep the tank above 1/4 -1/2 full so there will be enough headpressure to gravity feed the carbs. What this means to me is to refill the tank after about 125-150 miles. I would also consider moving or at least adding a fuel filter in that bypass line to prevent possible other problems before getting the pump replaced. I hope this helps to answer some of your questions. Do a search for fuel pump problems and look at some of Goose's explanations, you won't be misled.
  8. Yep, this could have been a problem that would be the norm for ECK!
  9. Just wondering, Has anyone on here ever thought about painting the plastic air filter boxes on the RSV? I know there are chrome covers out there but has anyone ever tried to paint them? I've seen a lot of bikes that have had custom paint jobs done but I don't ever remember seeing the air filter covers painted.
  10. You're surely gonna miss reverse gear! Nice bike though, if that's what you like!
  11. Try rotating the handle bars up or down and then rotate the controls on the bars to get the needed slack. You may have to reroute the cables differently through the steering head area. This is what I did several years ago and have never had a problem with binding.
  12. You've probably already done this but swap the lines to the carbtune and try again, just to be sure it isn't the gage.
  13. My '99 Vmax has that plug for filling oil. They just put another one in the clutch cover on the RSV so it would be easier to use. IMHO.
  14. Yep, definatly got a problem.
  15. How do you turn a screwdriver with your ears??????:think::think::think:
  16. Be adventurous! Get off the beaten path and ride the back roads. To me, they are much more pleasurable than the ones where everyone else goes. Just my worth.
  17. Same here.
  18. Sheeesh, what a let down!!! Ditto all the above.
  19. 1999 Vmax is "Max" and 2009 RSV is "Big Gal".

    White RSV ?

Rubber is the best I've found. No seriously, I like the Dunlop E3's.

    White RSV ?

IMHO, being different is what it's all about. I'd rather have one RSV V4 than 2 vtwins.
  22. I use DuckDuckGo on my Linux desktop. Simple and usually gives me just what I want.
  23. I agree with everyone else. Ram mount. I tried the suction mount and liked to have lost my GPS more than once. Trust us, suction cup won't hold long even mounted to the handlebars!!!!

    Insurance

TEW47, I've had American Modern for several years and gotten good service out of them. I hit a deer a couple of years ago and they took real good care of me. BTW, I'm paying a little more than you and can't complain. IMHO, good people to do business with.
