Replacement nut for rear axle on a 2nd gen ??
Kirby replied to dingy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Jeff you nailed it at Fastenal. Way to go!!!! Dingy check out Jeff's link above. -
For all those interested, check out my for sale item in the Classifieds for RSV.

It plays anyway you load it. It only holds 594 songs total per card. I play country on a couple of channels, old pop on a couple , and just mix upon a couple.

I've had one for quite a while now and won't go back to either the cd or the mp3 player. I can't imagine not having it on the bike. I installed a relay on mine in place of the switch so it comes on and goes off with the ignition. I think altogether it will hold 594 songs on six channels like the cd player. I put different kinds of music on each channel so if I want to hear something different I just use the handlebar control. Radio still works normally as well as cb. Mounted in the trunk, it's out of sight and as secure as can be. Venturemp3 works for me! Uses a 4 gb sd card that is easy to update with new or different music. Pull it out and put in another card with a capacity of another 594 songs.

I'd like to see a windshield like the flare that Clock Werks makes for HD. This makes it easy to have a short shield that also directs the airflow up and over the riders. Maybe someone already does, I don't know.

Yep. Me and the better half rode up to Macon today and back. About 190 miles round trip. Beautiful day. Mid 70's.

There are a few old pics of my 09 in my profile.

Yea, I read that report as well as the comments following. I kinda got tickled that one HD owner said he had put 10,000 miles on his in 10 years. W-O-W That's Awesome!!!! Hmmm, let's see, I put 23,000 on my 09 the first year I had it. No one on that site ever mention the 5 year warranty or the RSV. Wonder why???Oh, I know, that would have backed up the CR report!

Another Clutch (pull) upgrade question
Kirby replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'd like to know about this also. Is it possible to change out the caliper with one from another bike that may have a larger piston in it? Anybody know? -
I bought a corbin combo seat and backrest a couple of months ago for 2 reasons. Looks and lower seat height. It was and is hard as a a horse saddle. My butt is just now getting use to it. I ride on average 6 days a week to and from work . As it stands right now, if I were to go on an extended trip (400- 500 miles) I would most definitely put the pillow tops back on.

Hey Dan just go ahead and turn that sucker to reserve and leave it there, I do mine. Give it full choke when the temps are below 50 degrees and hit the starter. It'll run at high idle until you ease it back. Don't touch the throttle until you get ready to go into gear. Works for me every day.

I did the mod over 2 years ago. Never even heard tell of transmission problems. I ride on it a daily basis. Clutch lever pull is a little harder, but I've gotten use too it. Clutch has never offered to slip again. If you are s little weak in the hands, this will certainly get your left hand stronger. Skydoc17 told me before I did it I'd be able to crack walnuts with my left hand. Haha

But it'll never be a Venture.

This is just my 2 cents worth but here goes. In a couple of weeks of weeks I'll be 60 years old. In all those years I have never smoked pot and have only tasted of beer and alcohol. I'd say of wine, I drank one bottle that the hospital gave me and my wife when my only son was born. It took probably at least a couple of weeks to to drink that bottle of wine. It was sweet and tasted pretty good. I grew up in a small, one parent home where my mother had to work extra hard to support 4 kids. You see, my father was a drunk and spent all his hard earned money on liquor. Daddy was a hard working man but I guess he liked his alcohol more than family. I know too many people today that are just like that. That's just life. But when you've been a victim of these situations there's a difference! Most people who drink or do drugs want to forget for a short while all the problems in life and have a good time, just get a "buzz on". Escape reality for a short time. It's during those little escapes many times that homes are wrecked, money lost, businesses blown away, futures thrown away, and lives lost. The question I have to answer every time the temptation comes up for me is, "Do I really want to take the chance of falling into something that may ruin the rest of my life or the the lives of my family maybe the life of someone else who may be a total stranger?" As I said in the beginning, I'm about to turn 60 years old and you know what? I don't feel like I've missed out on anything because I didn't take a drink or smoke a joint. Life is what you make of it. Think of all the money spent every year on drugs and alcohol that could have been used for finding a cure for some of the cancers like my mother died of, or the heart disease that my daddy died of, or the cancer that my 28 year old sister died of. If you want something bad enough, you can always find a way to rationalize the reasons for it!

So sorry to hear this Dan. I know how you feel. It takes time to heal the loss you feel right now.

I agree my wife just returned a laptop from Officemax with Windows 8. It wouldn't update to Win8.1. constantly freezing up and godawful slow. Reminded me of win 95 it was so slow. Personally, I'm sticking with Linux.

Help: Lowering Bike with Barons Kit
Kirby replied to ksufan05's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I tried the links on the back to raise it up when I first got the bike but I'm a little vertically challenged so I put the stock links back on and tiptoed the bike until a couple of weeks ago. While I was off work for the Christmas holidays I lowered the front end by raising the forks in the triple trees by 1 inch. This had the same effect as raising the back but now I can flatfoot the bike with ease. Takes a couple of hours to do but well worth it. I'll probably never go back to the stock height. -
Hey thanks guys. I've tried alot of different combinations of gloves but nothing seems to take care of the finger tips. Most any of the gloves that I have bought over the years will take care of the palm and back of the hand but nothing has kept me comfortable at the tips of my fingers. Just been pondering if the hippo hands would even work with the audio control unit on the RSV.

Has anyone on here ever tried to put Hippo Hands on an RSV? If so, did they do the job of keeping your hands warm in cold weather?
