  1. 5 MGB's, Austin Healy MK1, and almost bought a TR2 in Texas, wish I would have. Was a member of SCCA back in the 60's...
  2. There will come a time within the next couple of years from now we will return to AZ ourselves and hopefully meet up with Video also!! We have a stopover at Phoenix airport twice in Oct but not enough time then. We plan on revisiting the area for a couple of weeks in the next year or two...
  3. Good to see you riding there, Pucster!!
  4. Yup, mine too! We both must be victims of the great crash of '06...
  5. Also, if your AIS system is not working properly, it will cause some backfiring, especially on Deceleration...
  6. Well, I'll be 70 this summer and now I pretty much ride for the sake of riding! I'm not in any big hurry unless I have a set destination to make! My racing days are pretty much over but yes, sometimes twisting the throttle and getting a decent response still brings a smile to my face. Other times it's just the satisfaction of the ride, especially when I don't have any real place to be at! I certainly don't ride as much as I used to, but so far still enjoy riding! As far as 4 wheels, I am definitely nostalgic for the good old days but do not have the money to tie up in a collector car. There are at least a dozen cars I would love to own, either because I owned one a long time ago or wish I could have owned one! To mention a few, a mid 50's Studebaker Golden Hawk, later 50's Desoto, '57 Pontiac, 58 Pontiac, Triumph TR6, late 30's Mercury, Hudson Hornet, and a bunch of late 60's Muscle cars, but not necessarily to go fast, just to cruise in!! Right now I drive a nice full sized loaded Impala that set me back close to 40K... Sooo, I plan on riding for at least a few more years and plan on enjoying it!!
  7. Know the area quite well Jay! Becky's father used to live there in Brooksville near Weeki Wachee on Knuke Road...
  8. After owning a boat many many years ago, I found it was much cheaper to enjoy my boating aboard a cruise ship...
  9. Sooooo, we all need to talk 5 times faster then??
  10. Here we are in St. Lucia!! Today's shore excursion is a ride on this new trolly train! All aboard!! They have a very peaceful and attractive harbor! The tour got delayed a little by a demonstration march for their recently passed away Poet Laureate... The first stop was at their "Central Park" and across the street from their oldest Catholic Church that they are restoring. The pictures do not do justice to the inside of the building... Once back outside I spotted these bikers... They were followed by a bunch of students of various ages marching against drugs!! St Lucia must like marching! If you look across the street from the trolley train you will notice the oldest tree on the island located in the park! When we left the port of Castries, we were given a cruise ship tour of the island. At the end of the island, there are two mountains known as the Tetons. There was also this grand sailing vessel in the area that was in one of their harbors and came out in full sail for a photo op that we just happened to be in the area for!! Here's the crazy part, our ship captain literally did donuts in the ocean with the cruise ship doing 2 1/2 complete revolutions with the side thrusters!! So, who was putting on a show for who?!!? Next stop, Curacao!!!
  11. Just to give credit where credit is due, the "Skydoc" modification is actually a PCW racing product...
  12. It might be one of your "floats" in one of the reservoir is partially submerged. The floats have little magnets on them and activate a reed switch inside that black center thingie with wires exiting from the bottom. As the float lowers, it activates the switch telling you you're low on fluid. I don't recall the clutch having one...
  13. OK, no odometer may be the ultimate answer but I'm not 100% sure on this. There is a reed switch that generates timing pulses so that the cruise controller knows what speed you are traveling at. The timing pulses are generated by a magnet that rotates turning the reed switch on and off, and I'm not sure but the magnet may be driven by the odometer section of the speedometer. You can see the reed switch on the case of the speedometer...
  14. Rain gear!!! Flashlight, a few basic tools, cell phone and charger, warm jacket, change of clothes to mention a few more...
  15. Keep the garage clean??? Good luck with that...
  16. Unless you rotate them from left side to right side they can't, or at least shouldn't, be flipped because of the direction the cooling fins point!! And, if you change them from left side to right side, the curve will then be pointing the opposite direction then as long as you keep the fins pointing in the same direction!! The outside will then become the inside!
  17. Those are primarily for MK1, '83 to '85, but they could be made to fit MK2 I believe. You should probably keep your front crash bars and take the highway boards off of them, as the stock bars DO protect the bike especially when it accidently gets dropped... I may be interested in them, I have a set on my '84 but yours look to be in a little better condition than mine!
  18. Exhaust leak should be fixed by installing new exhaust "donut" gasket and properly cleaning the mating surfaces...
  19. Going from memory here, but I think the top of the gas tank is still below the level of the fuel bowls anyway, so even if something were to happen to the fuel pump that it became a wide open hose, the level of gas still would not reach the bowls, especially if the tank is less than full to the top! Yes, it is ideal to drain the bowls if the bike is going to be stored for a very long period, like in excess of 6 months. Otherwise, using a good fuel stabilizer such as Stabil is a great practice...
  20. Sorry, from your statement I thought you thought your bike was running hot. I just wanted to point out the difference between the MK1 gauge and the MK2 gauge. On the MK2 the gauge is where you would expect it to be, maybe about 1/3 to 1/2 way up, not 3/4 up like the MK1...
  21. Yes, pull the driveshaft before towing anything more than about 100 feet!! It mostly has to do with gears turning, even in neutral, without any oil pressure!! Also, there is a lesser issue of extra mechanical restriction on the rear wheel causing extra friction, but that is the LESSER issue...
  22. Pretty much all of the petcocks on the 1st Gens were stiff, due to kind of a design feature of the actual mechanical switch. They are known to bind! Someone, a long time ago, came up with a simple mod that helped this out by simply adding flat washers to the screws which brought the mechanical mechanism out a little further to help alleviate the mechanical binding...
  23. OK, Snype, a couple of things. It is a known fact that the MK1 temperature gauge reads very high!! Normal operating temperature is just a tad below the red area! This was fixed with the MK2 gauge! Secondly, it is also a known fact that improperly balanced (Sync'ed) carburetors cause the engine to run a little bit on the hot side...
  24. Well, maybe look at it this way, there's a season's worth of issues all over within one ride...
  25. Hoo Boy!! Did YOU ever open a can of worms...
