  1. Ok, I'm sold on the idea and convinced that I'm going to buy my own synchronizer. So which one gets the most votes? Morgan or Motion Pro. That's the only four carb units I've found.
  2. Thanks J, you don't happen to have specific ebay info for those pieces do you? I haven't had a lot of luck finding venture specific stuff like that on ebay.
  3. Thanks for the info and the invite Goose. I'm looking right now for a good source for a carb sync tool. I hadn't heard about the frame problems before, I'll definitely be taking a close look at all that when I get home tonight. And when it gets better weather and hopefully have all the problems ironed out I'd like to take you up on that visit. And I WILL supply the beer!
  4. Yeah, I figured out pretty quick that the feel of the engine is deceiving on this bike for rpms. It's been years since I owned a v-twin but the Magna and the Valkyrie (my last two bikes) had tachs on them so it's taken a little getting used to. But I do keep the rprms up and shift at the upper ranges. Like I posted on the other thread (I think) she even notices the vibration at 65 to 70 during acceleration or cruising. I think I probably need to get the carbs synced like most have suggested. It's got 25k on it and I just put new plugs in and checked the filters but it probably hasn't ever had the carbs synced since new. I am a professional mechanic, just don't have a lot of experience with motorcycle repairs. I'd like to do it myself. Any suggestions on a sync tool/guage?

  7. I'm in San Angelo, TX. Are there any of these meet and eat events or helpful members in my area?
  8. She had mentioned that she notices a lot more vibration during acceleration, but even at 65 and 70, and the discomfort is still there cruising steady at those speeds.
  9. Thanks for all the great suggestions folks. Can anyone tell me if the carb sync is covered by the warranty on these bikes. I'm relatively new to the venture world. I traded for this '05 RSVM in August. I traded an '03 Valkyrie for it and my previous ride before the Valk was an '01 Magna. Neither of them had vibration in the rear seat and the wife loved both.
  10. I have wondered about the seats. Maybe I should try to find someone who would like to swap their pillow seats for the Midnight seats I've got. She doesn't have back problems, at least not medically. It's not really vibrating real bad, but it's bad enough that it makes her uncomfortable and she can't stand more than about a 100 miles at a time without a break.
  11. I'll check the supports. I just put new tires on, so it's not the tires. Thanks
  12. I'm running 4 in the front and 30 in the rear, using a Harley suspension pump and digital test guage, that seems to be the smoothest setting.
  13. sounds like a great idea. Where can I get padded covers?
  14. Hey folks, help me out if you can! My wife loves to ride with me, the problem is if she rides very long the engine vibration she feels through the rear seat and especially the backrest pad on the trunk leaves her with a back ache. I just recently put new tires on and with the Avon Venoms the bike feels a lot smoother to me. I don't notice any engine vibration through the drivers seat but I can reach back with my left hand on the highway and feel considerably more vibration in the passenger backrest. I'm wondering if there's a support modification that would help, or if the standard backrest might be better than the one I have on my '05 Midnight. Any ideas?
  15. I recently made the switch to the Avon Venoms and to the 130 on the front. Not only did I notice better low speed handling but the tar snake and road groove wiggles are gone! As for the wind pitching on the highway. I figured out just by accident when the bracket on one of the OEM lower wind deflectors broke and I removed the lowers completely that the wind pitching at highway speeds was greatly reduced. As for the tires, I don't have a lot of miles on them yet, but I'm loving them so far.
  16. Hello guys, Just wanted to put in my two cents worth. I took your advice and got new rubber for my '05 Venture. I went with the Avon Venom X plus I changed out the size on the front tire to the MT90B16 (130/90). I'm not sure how much of the improvement is from the new tread and tire and how much is from the narrower width, but this bike handles so much better now it's unbelievable. I also discovered in the process that my local dealer (Family Power Sports) here in San Angelo, TX. is selling their tires at dealer cost to try an build their service business. I got the tires for $105 on the front and $115 on the rear with no shipping cost. But if you are close enough to buy from them, DON'T HAVE THEM INSTALL THEM! Their service department sucks.
  17. Thanks for the note. I looked and looked and found a lot here about them, but I don't remember seeing the part about the plugs, other than drilling them out. As for the brackets, I'm a mechanic by profession and have my own metal work equipment so I made some brackets myself. It worked out great.
  18. I haven't seen anything mentioned like this on here yet, so I thought I'd mention it. I wanted something with just a little more volume than the OEM, but not as loud as the Baron's 4-2-4 that came with my bike, which I've got on Ebay right now. I was lucky enough to have a neighbor who rode a Harley and the other day I mentioned the RK muffler mod I had read about on here. He said he still had the ones he took off his '01 that I could have if I wanted to try it. Anyway, what I learned from him was the mod lots of Harley RK owners do to theirs to get the slight increase they wanted. You don't have to do any drilling or grinding!! When you look inside the baffles what you're seeing at the end of them is actually just a plug that is spot welded in place. There are two of them, one facing each end. All you have to do is find a bar or piece of thick wall pipe just slightly smaller than the opening and hammer it all the way through the muffler. It will knock both plugs out, then you have one continuous baffle straight through just like the old "Cherry Bomb" mufflers for cars. I did it and it turned up my highway volume just a little bit, but with a really nice tone. And the sweet part is the nice rumble you get when you take off that drops off as you level out. So there it is; the simplest exhaust mod I've heard of yet. And to think I had to learn it from a Harley owner!!
  19. Because of multiple interest in a buy out, I just added a buy it now price to the E-Bay ad.
  20. Hi folks, Just wanted let everyone know in case someone out there has been looking for a good deal on some of these. I put it in the classifieds under second generation on this site just to let ya'll know about them, after I listed them on EBay. Sorry I didn't know you could auction stuff on this site. I'm knew to this, in case you hadn't already figured that out! Anyway I'm selling a set of Baron's 4-2-4 Nasty Boys that I just took of my '05 RSV that I bought about two months ago. The ad just posted on EBay today if you're interested, under motorcycle parts and accessories.
  21. Hey folks. I'm looking for a good set of armrests for my '05 RSV. My wife and I spotted some of those chrome eagle armrests made by Diamond R Accessories in some of the photos posted on this site and she loves them. The only problem is I contacted the componay and he said he no longer made that armrest. So I'm hoping someone out there has a set of them they've taken off and would like to sell. If you do, PLEASE email me at roy.powell1@us.army.mil and let's work something out. Thanks
  22. Hey Rooster,

I saw your photo in the gallery. Where'd you get the eagle armrests? Do you like them? I love the look and would like to get some. Please email me at roy.powell1@us.army.mil

By the way I see you're in Weatherford. I'm in San Angelo.

  23. Universal trunk/hatch hydraulic struts attached on the inside to hold the lid and stop it just before hitting anything on the rear of the bike. There available at almost any large franchise auto parts store.
  24. I have the Barons 4-2-4 Nasty Boys also and just finished rewrapping the baffles. They sound great. No crack, just a nice deep throaty sound, loud but obnoxious unless you really crank hard on the throttle.
  25. Well, you hit the nail on the head. It is in sync with the rpm of the engine and most noticeable in 4th and 5th gear.
