  1. Well here's my story and I'm sticking to it. I carry two phones. One for personal and one for business. I had two iPhones until about a year ago when I upgraded my personal phone. I decided to give the Android a try and bought a HTC1. It is a nice enough phone but to be honest, I can't stand it. Little thing that Google integrates into it that I can't get rid of just drive me nuts. Like the blink feed on the opening screen. I have it turned off so that it doesn't update but I don't want it there at all. There are many other little things too but the bottom line is, I just don't like it. I went with it primarily because I did indeed want a phone with a bigger screen. Now Apple has finally introduced the 6 plus and to be honest, I would be all over it but I'm locked into this HTC1 for another year. Make no mistake about it though, as soon as I am able, I will be replacing it with the iPhone 6 Plus. My company phone is a 5s. I just like the operating system on the IPhone much better than the Android. Pretty much my only complaint with the iPhone is that they won't let you customize the icons and a few other things. I just don't get that. I have jailbroken most of my iPhones so that I can customize it the way I want but the updates have come out so often lately that I finally just quit messing with the jailbreaks.

    Very cool. Congrats.
  3. The good news is that it can't sink any further.....it's sitting on my lawnmower. Those who have been around a while will know what this is about.
  4. I understand. We gave away a Bushtec at three rallies I think. At that time, a base Bushtec RoadStar or Turbo 2 retailed for around $2400.00. I negotiated a deal with them to buy them for 50% off and gave them a one year banner on the site. So our cost was around $1200.00 and I think the last one around $1350.00. Then Andrew Preston sold the company and I was not able to get a deal like that from the new owners. Those were base but fully functional trailers and the winner was able to spend money if he or she wanted to in order to add the options that they wanted.
  5. I'm pretty much guessing here but I'm thinking something like a 750 Iron Head?
  6. That's a great looking chopper Puc. Would love to have something like that now to play with.
  7. That could well be your problem. Look at the label. I THINK that oil will be marked "energy conserving". If so, it is not a good oil for these bikes. The same oil that you put in your engine also goes into the clutch. They will make the clutch slip.
  8. All I can say to that is......
  9. $4300.00 gas card? All expense paid trip for two to Hawaii? Come on folks, you are thinking WAY too big. In the past, we have managed to pick up a trailer at a nicely discounted price. We have usually paid between $1300 and $1750 for the trailer. Then we stress over whether or not we will sell enough tickets to cover the cost. So far, we have always covered the cost and even made a few bucks to donate to the OPE fund but not a lot. Some great suggestions so far. Keep them coming but some of you are thinking too big. We are a small group. Cash has been suggested in the past but what would be a fair split? Remember, the reason we are doing a grand prize is for a fundraiser. What percentage of the collected cash would be a fair split? We typically do a 50/50 drawing during the rally and I think that is good enough for a cash prize and not sure that making it also a grand prize is necessary.
  10. I know that Rick Butler has installed the Race Tech system on his 2nd gen. You might send him a PM. He knows a LOT about the suspensions on these bikes. As for the "clunk", I don't think it is normal. I think it is usually a result of the front springs being shot.
  11. All you have to do is open that piggy bank and you can own it. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/09/17/easy-rider-chopper-going-up-for-sale-next-month/?intcmp=latestnews
  12. OK ladies and gentlemen and all the rest of you too. We didn't have a grand prize at the last rally due to the fact that I drug my feet for too long and we didn't get anything bought. As those raffle tickets are the main fund raiser for our OPE fund, I really want to have one for the 2015 rally. The question is, what should it be? We have had this discussion before and there is never a consensus but I would like your thoughts again. We could do a trailer again and that has always been a good fund raiser. It has also be suggested that we look at seeing what kind of deal we can get on a Honda Ruckus. They are really cool little bikes for running around locally or you could sell it if you didn't want it. Maybe a couple of high end motorcycle GPS units? Those are just a couple of thoughts that have come up. What say you?
  13. I can tell you for a fact that I never hit the rev limiter in 4th or 5th gear on the RSV. I hit that mark a couple of times and even downshifted to 4th at about 115 with no problem. With the stock rear end, my '99 would run faster in 4th than it would in 5th. Never tried it with the VMax rear.
  14. I use Safari on my MacBook Pro most of the time and have never experienced this issue. Use Firefox on the PC laptop and haven't had the problem with it either.
  15. I don't think that what you did caused any damage. It's been a while but I ran my '99 like that more than once. What kind of oil are you using?
  16. How many of you who are having the problem are using Internet Explorer? The only thing I've been able to find out so far is that IE has a bug that causes this problem. I did just make a small change but I don't think it will solve the problem. Let me know.
  17. No, sorry, that is not safe to say. The valves get tighter as things wear. Looser could cause some ticking but tighter is not likely to. You are probably OK but the only way to know for sure is to check them.
  18. Ed, Thanks for the post but let me assure you of one thing. It is ME who owes you the thanks. Not that big a deal for me to sit her in the comfort and relative safety of my home and maintain this forum. It is because of men and women like you who voluntarily do what you do that I am able to do so. Thank you for your service. Don
  19. Any of the above will work. The PROPER way though is to click on UserCP, scroll down to subscriptions, and there you go. That automates it all.
  20. Dan, unless you have changed them, you don't have the Iso Grips. I replaced them long ago. What you have is Yamaha grips that were offered for the Road Star until Yamaha started discontinuing stuff. They are cut down to fit the RSV. I loved those grips. Very comfortable for me.
  21. I'm not a fan of the Iso Grips either. Rick Butler bought a set and said that they made his fingers numb. I got them from him and installed them on my '99. I even adapted the bar end weights to work with them just in case there was some added vibration. Even with the bar weights, my fingers got number with them also. Not a fan at all.
  22. You are right about it being a good handling bike. It will really carve the curves. There are a lot of things I like about the Road Glide but we have to be honest, there is a major downside also. I've heard a few people here complain about the heat on the RSV. I can tell you for a fact, if you are sensitive at ALL to heat then you do NOT want a Harley or at least a Road Glide. They can be a bit brutal on a hot day and especially if you get caught in stop and go traffic. There are things you can do that will help but I'm not sure how much. I've removed the catalytic converter, done the Stage One air cleaner, did the tuning and etc. and it did help some but it is still HOT. The next step will be to install true duel ceramic coated headers which is also supposed to help a lot but I suspect when I am done, it will still be HOT. My wife says that the bike is more comfortable for her than the RSV was. EXCEPT for the heat. Her right foot especially gets roasted pretty good. Hopefully the true duels will help in that regard. Compared to the Road Glide, the RSV is like sitting on an air conditioner.
  23. I'm sure you will see an Ultra. They have already come out with the CVO model but at $40,000.00, I'll have to pass. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/cvo-road-glide-ultra.html
  24. I understand that. Heck...the alphabet designations confuse me too. I can recognize most of them by their generic names though.
  25. LOL...I wasn't trying to sell you one. Not trying to sell anybody one. A question was asked and I tried to answer it.
