  1. Two things I think you might have missed, first is to make sure the battery terminals are not loose or corroded on the cable, and the other is that the ground is clean and tight on the engine side of the black, ground cable. When you check the battery terminals, grab the cables and try to remove them from the terminals, and don't be gentle, give them a good hard twist and pull, if they stay, well and good, if they come out, you might have found your problem.
  2. Been there, done that,, maybe next time you need to scratch your head when the lot is full with only one empty spot,,,,, Why is nobody parking there??,,,,, you were probably # 15 for the day and they probably had a crew on site to get bikes back up. Yep, next comes the gas pump,, just stay out of farmers' fields, they can get lumpy. And that's what you get for not inviting company!
  3. Wow, you guys are moving along,, not hard to do on a 1st gen eh?? Lucky you didn't get a hold of me for the Windy City tour,, we might have got you some U-turns,,, or maybe a few more than a few,,, but farmers' fields are hard to come by, so I would have had to give up. When I ride I stay away from places like that,,,FAR away!!! Carry on McDuff!
  4. 6:30
  5. You must have been trying to follow me yesterday!
  6. We do what we can and when ever we can,, just glad to able to be there when it was opportunistic. You'll need some carb cleaner, a small tap with a big hammer and a place to flush that needle valve through.
  7. Rick Butller is on holidays, so that's out for now. Day-long will take me out of riding for at least 4 weeks,, bad time of year for that. Corbin has not had good reviews all around,,, some have been positive, but not as positive as Ultimate. Price is the best on Ultimate. Somebody said they exchanged the Corbin for an Ultimate and now are happy. Looks like I got lots to chew on, and sounds like Ultimate might win out. What I did on the Venture was to dig 2 holes under my butt bones, which is where my problems were originating. That helped a lot when riding solo, but with Marca on the back I would sit straighter up and so the holes didn't help much. Now on the Spyder the butt bones don't seem to be an issue, I just get numb and burning across my whole butt. I also feel like I'm being pushed forward some,,, so lots of fun,,,, but I tell you though, the way to forget about all that is to hit the throttle @ 4000rpms,,,, whoa baby, sit down, shut-up and hang on!!!!
  8. Wow!!!!! you is lucky,,, all you got out that deal was leaky carbs???,, we could have helped you with more persistent values,,, like maybe a leaky tire, or a Brake Pad gone loose,,,, or maybe a coolant leak,,, we went easy one you THIS time. And hey!!! this is a free country, and you can go where you wish,,, you could even have come along with us,, but then you would have had to endure what we said about you,,, man your head would be twice the size it is now. And as for your mother-in-law,,, she's got to be a real nice lady,,, hey! she lives in the same house as you, don't forget,,,, and who was there to greet us when we rolled in???? none other than your lovely wife,, Next time, we'll buy you one,,, sorry for not specially inviting you,,,we should have been more considerate.
  9. Just so you all know where I've been on this quest: I have the Air-Hawk,,, it improved things on the Venture but I still got a numbum, on the Spyder, it don't make much difference, but I now have the added issue that Marca is also not comfortable, and if you're not comfortable it takes the fun out of the ride. I just called Diamond, and they deal with Canadians,, so far so good. I am a member on SpyderLovers and there is a lot of info there,,, they also seem to be much like us, very helpful, but not as much BS.
  10. Need to pick some brains. I don't find the present seat on the Spyder all that comfortable,, about the same as on the Venture, but Marca was very comfortable on the Venture and now on the Spyder she also gets numbum. So I'm considering either a Corbin or Ultimate. The Corbin is hard and once you buy it, it's yours, where the Ultimate is softer and they give a 14 day money back guarantee. So I'm doing some research, and polling and you guys are now a big part of that. Any experience you can or want to share?
  11. So do I name our new scooter,,, or will it remain as is,,,, no particular identification.
  12. Wait til Gary sees this,,,,, IT"S YELLOW!!!
  13. Well then, you need to be redirected before you start, but I won't convince you, so ride on my friend and enjoy. You can keep Tippy, I have more in one than I can handle, and I wouldn't give her up either. If you show up here, there's more than one Carlsberg waiting for you.
  14. If ya gets lost and I happen to see you,,, does I need to redirect you??? or keep Tippy??? maybe just feed you. Have a great trip and may He shine on you!
  15. One of these days I might be playing hockey,, and get me a break-away,,, then you'd better have the ice-cream ready!
  16. Easiest way to find out what it does is to unplug the fuse and find out.
  17. This is a sad story,,sad, sad story!!!
  18. Ok, there are more of us on this site,,, well there are 2 of us who have admitted to have one anyways,,, and I do truly believe that you have great respect for SPYDER riders,,, yes it's spelled SPYDER, and seeing as we really don't have an identifiable identity yet, it might be advantageous for you to at least spell it right and show utmost respect for the renown Spyder Riders, we might take offense to such items in the future, although for now you would be quite safe,, seeing as there is only 2 of us,,, yet!!! And oh,, just in case you or anyone else should do a search for this thread and enter the search 'Marcal' , they wouldn't come up with this thread,,,,, ya it's MarCarl,,, see how easily one can make trouble out of nothing?????
  19. I hate exams. Best look at your scoot to see if you have rubber covers on the top of your forks,,,, forks are those thingies up front that look like socks and that the handle bars are attached to. If there are no rubber inserts that you can see there, you should be able to see the aluminum cap screw that fills the top of the fork tube,,, if you can't find that,, just post that you have a rubber plug , post the picture and I'm sure there will be takers. OH am I sure??? well now, that's a good question,, but now that you've asked, I suppose it would only be brotherly of me to give you an answer,, but the answer should be truthful,, so I'll let Bob answer that for me.
  20. Wow, you two,, that's good going. There must have been times of sorry, joy, happiness, grief, and all kinds of other stuff that goes with be married. Bet when you look back though, it's the good times that are remembered. Congrats!!:happy65:
  21. Find something softer but solid for the crash bars and you'll be just fine, if you lay it over by accident or in a big hurry so to speak, it might go all the way using the mirror for deflection,,,, ya I know, been there done that!!! and it takes more than once to become experienced.
  22. Fits on the top of your fork tubes.
  23. Now that doesn't surprise me one bit,,,, you WOULD!!!!
  24. I agree,,,,, to a point,,,,,, it's just that the way it reads,,, you know,, I'm just saying,,, I ride Spyder,,,,, and, and, and,,, what was it again???
