finding some way to get the oil to stick to the gear sounds like a wonderful idea possibly drill a couple of divets to the leading face of the gear alternatively also to the rear of the gear just to make sure makes sense either way I like this thread best thoughts in a long time just hope for a lot of you that it makes some difference that whine can be very annoying to say the least

I need a google account so they can see what I'm up to,,,, not happening!

TRAILER?????,,, was I supposed to get a trailer with it too,,, they didn't say that, and it wasn't hooked up, so I never thought!!!,,, darn, I hope it's still there and they haven't pawned it off on somebody else.

Where is it that you live again??? The Venture knew the way,,,, but Spyder has to learn all them things yet,,,, slowly we is being trained.

800km so far. I've had it just over a week and it's not been good for riding. 22L of gas got me to the 320km mark,,, so far so good. I love the color. When I step on the brake pedal, it stops, when I jamb the pedal it stops a LOT quicker!!!! When I twist the throttle, I'm outta there,,, now try to catch me! When I see a corner it's behind me before I realize it,,, I got to hang on so tight,,, not really, but it is different. Marca likes it. Marca likes the color. Carl likes the color. Everybody else is just jealous of the color. It doesn't have a CB or intercom,,,, yet! It goes like a scared rabbit. The lights are awesome,, but could use a couple more,, but no worries,,, Bob is on his way over and I might borrow a couple. It needs a bit more chrome,,, also available on Saturday,, I think. I like the color. I have to get off to fill the tank,,, that's good, I need the exercise. It's got 3 wheels, 6 speed & true reverse, cruise, 4 way flashers, signal lights, fog lights, running lights, fender lights, moveable windshield, radio with 4 speakers, heated grips, heated grab bars, adjustable rear suspension, (on the go), trip meters, fuel gauge, temp gauge, tach, low fuel warning light, parking brake, theft deterrent, trunk, frunk, and 2 saddle bags, performance mode, eco mode, abs brakes, belt drive, trailer hitch, back-up lights, but would you believe, it doesn't come with an intercom or CB,,, now who would have thought of that, they have taken a page from Yamaha with their cassette deck so I feel right at home,,, almost. And oh ya,, almost forgot,,,, I like the color.

Looks like you set up a grand time you two. Thanks for doing this for your fellow VentureRiders. Too bad I missed it. See you all somewhere else I hope.

Nice looking ride, keep it up straight and don't forget to wash it.

OK looks good now,,, did you do both sides, if not one side will have more drag than the other and you'll end up going sideways.
-
Yep,,, still waiting :whistling: Is this what it's going to like this summer???
-
Now you have us all worried about you,,,, maybe you should move to America,, you didn't have any of that when you were here,, and that way we could look after you better if you did something like that again.,,,, No bounce eh???? wonder what can be done about that?

If your #4 carb is very high I would suggest that it is way out. Here's how I see it. In order to get any vacuum at all, the butterfly needs to be closed, or very nearly closed. The point of the procedure is to get all the butterflies to be the same, so knowing now that the BF needs to closed to get vacuum, it stands to reason that the #4 BF is closed,,,, completely. So you can start from scratch as has been suggested or you can try to open up #4 and then go through the whole process again,, it might work and it might not for you. If you want to start again, start with # 2, set it with the idle speed screw so that it contacts a thin wire, then go around adjusting the others so they are the same. I would use a long thin copper wire. By using a wire you can easily see when the BF contacts the throat of the carb. Now start it and do a sync.

That's OK, we all know the second gens are slower and the trikes don't go any faster,,, so we're used to waiting it out. I'll go get my coffee now!

Got some brand new insurance from Aviva, through Dalton Timmis in Ancaster. Cost is $1069. Economical would not insure the Spyder, said it was worth too much and they couldn't write it. I got quotes right up to $2300. Now have collision as well with $1000 deductible and 1m lib.

Congrats to both of you,and may you be blessed in the future.

Money???? did you leave some money???? I think I would have smelled that the minute I walked into the shop,,,, I did notice somebody was here, the soap was gone,,,, now about the money,, where did you leave it???,,was it sticking out so I could see it???,,, did you hide it so I'd have to spend time looking for it???? Yes I found it,,, and thanks!

Keep in mind that adding an amp adds draw on your power source and you need to figure out if you have enough to do it.

Excellent, good advice, but might I add just a little? As mentioned, own the road,,, at least send out that message, but for yourself, let them take all the real estate they want, it's too expensive to repair anyways. Now back to own the road: Ride the lane like as if you own it, so in the outside lane use the left track, and in the inside lane use the right track. If you ride the shoulder then you will be 'hidden',,, look like you're parked..... all kinds of thoughts in the cagers mind,,,so ride like you own the lane. When you come up to an intersection, don't move over to the right side, you're telling everyone else that you're making a right turn and they'll move in before you,, (opps, they cut you off), but do be ready to take evasive action. Now if you are in the right hand track, where can you go if you get cut off,,,,,,, nowhere really,,,, but if you were in the left hand track you could possibly make a tight right, swing around the cage to the left, or maybe even escape by making a full left turn. As Don said, he watches the front wheel and so gets a signal from that. Unbeknownst to riders, cagers also take signals that we send out,,, just be careful what you tell them, for they don't seem to take much time to think, are always in a hurry, and have poor eyesight. Stay awake, keep the rubber down and the shinny side up,,, and may God go with you.

I'm going in hard and fast....
Marcarl replied to KIC's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The coil wires can be replaced from the front, but you'll need small hands. Keep in mind that the front coils go to the front cylinders, so far so easy. Remove the front wires so that you can get access to the rear coils,(like I said, you'll need small hands, if you have large grabbers you'll have to remove the inner farings), do the rears first and then the fronts. Each coil has a screw cap with a special O-ring in it. It's not just any O-ring and any O-ring won't do, this one has a special shape, different on both sides, one is rounder the other is more flat, these, when tightened hold and seal the wire in place. If you don't have the O-rings, the wire won't stay in, and if you have the O-ring in properly, you need to squeeze the screw cap a little tighter. -
Chrome and Cognac don't go together so well,,, and it has lots already,,,, you know how hard it is to keep that stuff shinny? and any idea what they want for chrome? we have to leave something for you to get me, so when are you coming over?

Non Venture Tech Question --85 Virago 750 won't start --
Marcarl replied to stickhandle2's topic in General Tech Talk
Try putting a bit of gas into the throat of each carb and see if it will fire, or spray some carb cleaner down the throat while you're turning it over. If it fires then it's fuel related, if it still won't fire, re-check the ignition. -
Non Venture Tech Question --85 Virago 750 won't start --

Maybe best describe what exactly you did when you cleaned the crabs, did you take them apart, put in new gaskets and\or O-rings, did you clean and blow out the jets, or did you just clean them without taking them apart. Sorry for the questions, but cleaning carbs means many different things to many different people, and one method will give much different results than the other.
