Carb Trouble

A good dose of Seafoam or something similar might help seat the needle valves. I would try that first. Seems there is some dirt in the system. -
87 Venture Royale front wobble
Marcarl replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't over torque the triple tree. If you read the manual I think you'll be surprised at how little torque it takes. Don't worry about the clamps being too loose, the forks can't go anywhere. -

Help with 1983 Venture Royale
Marcarl replied to BobfromSWOhio's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This is a first, haven't heard of this before. Maybe something else is in the stewpot. First question, what makes you think it doesn't work? If you have troubles bleeding the air out, it might not be the MC, more likely the bleeding procedure, or the mixing valve being plugged, or maybe the wee tiny little hole in the MC is plugged. Maybe best to talk it through before you go through any more frustration. -
YEPYEPYEPYEPPIE,, that's my feeling. Rode one same year as Freebird, thought it was ok but not a Venture for sure. Was thinking down the road you know, when we get older. It was an 08, too much vibration, rides completely different,, but had enough getup and go and didn't fall over at the gas pumps, and even had reverse,,,, so it had some pluses. Then along comes 2014 and the new 3 cyl. I go look,,,, oh oh, I looked again, oh oh oh uhhuh,,, well there she sits, pretty as a button in her cognac skirt. I figured it was time, it's smooth, loads of power, handles well, sits comfortable, and still has reverse, Lighting is awesome, horn sucked, (no longer, had to add something, thanks BRP) lots of luggage room, some good things, some not so good. Tires are hard to come by unless you go to the dealer, stealer for sure, add ons start at $100 and easily go up from there,,, nuts!!! they must all think we have MORE money. Price is not cheap but then neither is one of those other machines that people seem to crow about. I thought if we waited too much longer we would be too old to learn to ride something new, and new this is. I now have 12000 km on it and am loving it. Not done training on it just yet. But every time I get on it, I love it more. I think it has a different seating than the 08 and hyway pegs are available. I thought I would miss my hyway pegs, but not yet, so far I'm quite comfortable, and pegs would take my foot away from the brake pedal,, and I love my brake pedal for stopping. There is a hand brake available but it's $1500,,,, ya?eh? Now I need a new rear tire,,, already,,, ya, the center wore out of the Kenda, the recommended tire. What I'm looking for is a Kumho, Ecsta AST, Ku25, 225-50-15. None available in Canada at present and Discount Tire won't sell to me because they have figured out that it is going on a Spyder and they have an agreement with BRP,, go figure. Lucky it's not very good for riding right now.

New owner, E 1 error
Marcarl replied to ice89vr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
On my 85,, when I still had it, air in the front didn't make a difference in height after I installed the progressives, but it did stiffen them up. On the rear though, as I pumped air into the shock the back would rise, and then when my wife and I both got on the rear would settle down again. I had stock shock for rear gear. -
Class problems
Marcarl replied to Big Auggie's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Could very well be that moisture has gotten into the valves. This will corrode the seats and so the valves will not shut off. Carefully take the solenoids apart to do a proper maintenance. If you find the seats are corroded, put some fine steelwool on the end of a small dowel. With a drill spin the steel wool into the seat until it's clean again. -

I would hazard a guess that you need to re-solder again, you may not have done the good job you first figured you did. Try that first, and then make sure all the connectors at the back are clean and tight. -
I've been a little busy lately, so I missed all this. Glad you is on the mend, I will pray that this works well for you. Blessings!

Keep in mind that it takes quite a bit to get those MC wheels turning and to keep them turning. The other thing that comes to mind is the tires. MC tires aren't cheap first of all, but then there is also the factor of grip on the contact patch. MC tires are designed to carry some weight, and the trailer will not necessarily give you close to that weight, so traction will be significantly reduced..... just some thoughts.

It doesn't matter which is which, as long as both speakers are wired the same,,, at both ends of the wire.

You'll be in our prayers as well, asking for successful surgery and followup.

Some decisions are hard to make, I'll bet this was one of them,,, glad you got it over with and now can settle on other things.

Change it all, not a big job. For the cost you might also change the elbow, just to be safe. -
