  1. I'm confused enough already, so a little more won't hurt,,,, go for it!!!
  2. Welcome to the site. I bet you'll get more than $12 worth of info just on this one question. First off check that you have power at the battery. Then check the solenoid tucked in beside the battery on the left side. You should have power going to it, but not coming out of it. There is also a main power wire, not a cable, coming off of the battery, usually has a jacket on it, and it has a rectangular box in it that contains the main fuse. Open it and check the main fuse, should be a spare in the box. Check the fuse box to make sure you have power going through each fuse. Use the fuse holders for contact points, not the fuse ends, as it's common for there to be a disconnect between the fuse and it's clampy thing in the holder. Report back.
  3. Been kind of busy even to think. SO I think I might this Saturday.
  4. No flippin wonder they won't let him across the border,,,, that could be catching and then how do you stop it from spreading.
  5. You couldn't have went too far,,, I didn't notice you here for a chat.
  6. Social media is supposed to help out with the communication thing. I find it's not working!!! Trouble is that society is getting very self-centered and only concerned about what is good for me, that means that collecting FB friends is very important, the more there are in the collection the better we are off. Spin off is that we just can't keep up with all the gongs on and a whole bunch get left in the dark as far as important issues are concerned. The comments come back: you didn't know?? I posted it on FB!, so you look back to find the announcement and sure enough it got posted, but things were to busy that day and it got missed in the shuffle. It used to be that one would have to sit down and think about who should know and then send or call out the news. Today it's all covered with the address book and we no longer have to think who we should notify, so I get missed. Really doesn't bother me a whole lot, after all, so far it wasn't me who died or got sick or had a real bad experience it was somebody else, so it didn't effect me much. The book of prophecy tells us that toward the end of time man will get very concerned about self and will step on even close family and friends to get what is desired. My guess is that things are getting close.
  7. Running with Fool's idea, could be the fuel filter.
  8. Give a bit of time,, we had a great Ontario Rally this year, fact is we were looking at making it an International, but WV was taken instead but in Sept, so we decided to do a local one instead. That brings up another thought, and that is for those who attended a regional, maybe a second rally was more than they could fit into their plans. What ever,, Don and I will see if we can locate a spot that can accommodate a larger group. If we were to use the same motel, registrations would have to be in by February I think. We could take over the place. Or maybe we could come up with a different idea. We were planning to do a repeat this year anyways, and making it a little larger would not be a huge issue I think.
  9. Yah,,, snow in BC and ALberta today,,, guess it's that time of year again,,, should be lots of it,, kind of nice I think!!
  10. Well if you're not upset will it be okay if I get upset for ya?
  11. Hopefully this will get you back up and running on all four. It's no picnic when things are missing and you have to look for a different type scooter. You could have asked for a remote charger or maybe they could have hung a connector on the outside to charge overnight, I do that with my cell phone. Aren't these guys up to date? Heal fast my friend and keep us updated.
  12. I really can't see what it is that you're so upset about. There are many people who pay big bucks to get such a swirl on their scoot, and here you got a husband who got it done for nothing, none the less. Can't you girls ever be happy??? Just because it's depressed rather that raised, is that such a big difference??? Get a life!!!!!!!! have him do the other side as well and then all will be equal,,, one for you,, one for him,,, and you won't have to go for a second hand husband.
  13. Somebody is very smart,, I must have written that,,,, just that I can't remember doing so,,, but I appreciate you finding it and posting it.
  14. Thanks for sharing Raggie. Just a couple of questions: Where was Raggie? And what was Missus Raggie doing looking so sweetly into the eyes of One Carbon? Think we had best send along some chaperones next time.
  15. I'm with Bob on this one. Once the stator has been replaced it will not likely bring on any more issues, so to solder it would be my choice. Cable upgrades on the other hand would be handy, but I don't work on a whole lot of 1st gens anymore yet, so don't expect me to empty your warehouse. That being said, it would be good to have a supply from somewhere, and if you want to make a few, it would be good for the club I think.
  16. Why not just put the string on the drill? You'd be all done by the time you get the stupid thing running, and the Warden might get interested i your new tool, you know how they are!
  17. Front bearings are not very expensive, go to your local bearing depot to get them, they are a common bearing, seals are cheap as well at the same place, and they are not hard to replace. Go for the tires first though, you'll be much safer!!
  18. I think it's time to add some pictures to this thread,, just to make it more authentic.
  19. And here I thought pictures were an important part,,,, everybody is always complaining that we need pictures,,, boy! I can get confused at my place in life.
  20. You'll need to think this one through. The whole bearing situation in the wheel is a system that needs all parts to be able to work properly. First there is a bearing on the one side (half sealed) then there is a spacer in the middle and then the needle bearing on the opposite side. The spacer keeps the bearing in place so that they cannot be pressed in too far into the wheel. There is also a ring spacer fitted to the bearing spacer to keep it from falling away from center so that you can shove the axle through when the time comes. The needle bearing is inserted into the axle with the installed seal going to the center of the axle and seated on the collar in the wheel. The inside race of the bearing actually rests on the center spacer that sits between the bearings on either side. The smaller diameter part of the center race faces out to accept the outer seal. Hope this helps.
  21. If you had EFI then there might not be a large issue, but carbs depend on vacuum for them to work. Loosing the cap would decrease the available vacuum in the carb and so screw things up. With reduced vacuum there would be reduced variance of pressure on the fuel bowl and so then nothing pushing fuel through the jets into the mixture process. When you felt it shake, you were probably running on just 2 cylinders.
  22. So where are you then,,, I've been waiting all day,,, NOT! Bring it over, and we'll see that you have a completely rebuilt scoot to ride,,, no issues,,,can't wait!
  23. That will kind of depend on a number of things. One is that I will be gone for the 17th and 24th. Two is why are you doing this You want to ride it or are you fixing it to sell and then how soon do you want it to be ready. Another thing to consider is how deep are you prepared to get into this machine. Don't want to scare you none at all,,, but: If you take the back wheel off and get into the spline and bearings and they show wear are you ready to replace them? $150-$200 Once the carbs are balanced and it still doesn't run right will you rebuild the carbs? $100- $300 If the charging issue won't go away do you want to replace the stator and or rectifier? $150-$250? Tires $300-$400? You can quickly spend a cool thousand. I\we don't mind helping out. that would be the fun part, and the scoot can sit here waiting for parts, that's ok too. But do you want to spend the money?
  24. If you are working on getting the bike ready for sale then you need to make sure that it is running properly, no misses, no leaks, starts well and doesn't smoke. Anything more than that is just spending money. I used to have a valve tool, but somebody went and broke it, but I suppose I could maybe borrow one locally if needed. The next thing that comes with that is to find replacement shims if needed, and that could be more difficult after hours. Now that I reasoned that out, I would just replace the cover gaskets and bolt seals, but they will have to be ordered in advance. Brake and clutch fluid is easy and can be quick, rear drive can be done when the back wheel is off, so not too big of an issue. Now if you plan to ride this machine, and the tires are old(er) then I can see the reason for replacement, if you are just getting ready for sale and the tires have decent tread, you are just spending money. You are asking $3200, which is a bit high, and that's ok. I would think that the final price would be between 2 and 2.5. Now if you figure the money you're thinking of investing in it at this point, there won't be much left to pocket. The bike will need to have 3 things going for it to sell: It needs to look good, which it does, and it needs to start well and run nice, and have ride-able rubber.
  25. Just what exactly were you thinking??? Tune up? Would you like the carbs rebuilt? Plugs changed? new plug wires? carbs synced? valves checked? valve cover gaskets? You can sure be into some big money depending on what you think need doing. On the other hand, take a day and visit a friend to see what might happen.
