  1. I wish I could lay out the day for you, but we are working/talking about changing it up a little somehow,,, and then again, maybe not. Whatever gets planned, we have an open house all day long, enjoy lunch and supper together, get here when the time is right, and leave when we're told the day is over, or when we've had enough of the host. Some folks come by for lunch, some stay all day, and some only seem to like supper. Coffee, tea and water are provided, we haven't seen any adult beverages and don't seem to miss them a bit. We have a donation jar set out so you can help with the costs if you so desire, but supper is usually split by the eaters. You get to park your scoot on the street, so the neighbours can oggle the nicest one. So far we have not had any stolen, run over or in any other way lost or damaged. We have a well supplied shop, and it's not uncommon to see it being used for one thing or another. If it rains, it rains, but it has never yet stopped us from having a get-together. We have a fairly large patio, 750sqft shop, trees and grass. Chairs are supplied by us and the neighbors. If we have meat to eat, it comes from the best Butcher shop in the county, even though I say so myself. You just might to get to meet somebody from Kingston or from Windsor, or maybe even Detroit, we even had somebody from Georgia show up a couple of years ago. You asked!
  2. If there was air in the line, you would have a problem shifting, not likely a slippage issue. I'm not sure what you mean by 'dino'. I took a look at the shell website and noticed that there is a whole bunch of Rotella products. I'm wondering if one oil is different than another in this for our application.
  3. With only 23 k miles, I would be looking elsewhere first, maybe the slave isn't returning all the way.
  4. What's all that white stuff, or is your camera color blind?
  5. Best to take them right apart and clean them proper, or it will happen again soon.
  6. When ever we have a hurt, it always seems that something or somewhere else might have been better, just saying. Hope you heal well and soon, taking echinacea often helps speed the healing process. One of the instructors that we had for the novice and advanced MC training was missing his entire hand, and he was able to ride just fine with a stump. Braking for you might be a challenge though. 7. All that money laying out there and nobody to take advantage,,,, what a waste!!
  8. I would think that your tech is a little over zealous. Chances are that if you wait til the end of the month they will still be back ordered, and then somewhere down the line the decision will be made to use the old ones anyways. There is probably very little call for these, and so nobody needs the inventory.
  9. The clutch line is a 3 piece setup. From the master there is a rubber line, goes into a hardline and then a short piece of rubber again. It can all be replaced with generic material. Problem comes in matching the ends if you want to leave the hardline in place. What I would do is to take it all out, go to your local mechanic and have them make up a whole new set. The ends will be standard banjo bolts, so there should be no issues. I don't think SS braided would be called for, but you can if you like. The reason for SS mostly is that there is no give in the line and so you get better reaction from the slave, but the runs are short, so you would notice very little or no change. Now in the brake systems, that's a different story, SS highly recommended.
  10. somebody just wants sometime off to stand out in the sunshine. What you could do, is the next time somebody reports a smell, give everybody the rest of the day off without pay.
  11. Carb drain plugs need to be replaced? Enlighten me please.
  12. Saddlebum helped me fashion my own front flaps. Got to careful not to use too heavy of a product or dragging on rough country could crack the fender. Maybe some picture later today.
  13. Yep, the thought crossed my mind as I was horizontal. Your 2 wheels can navigate a lot of bumps and jumps that the three wheels might have a bit of a problem with. You only have 4.5 inches of clearance on the Spyder, so you'll want to be careful how you deal with a bump or deep pot hole. Marca & I like to ride the back roads in the Kawarthas, and some of them can be problematic, was so on 2 wheels, but with three wheels it changed the dynamics somewhat. Didn't ever have to turn around, but had to back up occasionally to take a different approach. Your bike will navigate 12 inches easily enough, the Spyder is over 5 feet. It will take the hills just fine I think, never an issue there. Also, it's a belt drive and belts aren't known to have a liking for rocks. I have sent a few small stones through the system, and so far they have just went 'crunch!!!' but you just never know. There is a belt protector available, but it doesn't seal the area off perfectly. Good long mudflaps on the front seemed to have helped with less stones. Still working on pictures.
  14. Ya, even checked them out $258 per night. I'm too Dutch for that, I would ride home and save a bunch of cash. Maybe be a lot cheaper getting one of those blue things.
  15. For the time it takes, check the air filter first, while it's off check to make sure the carb slides are working, while your doing that spray some carb cleaner down the throats of the carbs to see if anybody fires up under that procedure.
  16. My plan is to attend MD in the Oberlin area. It's a great day and the Friday night dinner works out good as well. Now the problem is where to sleep. It would be nice to be able to go without, but it seems to be a thing to do as one gets older, and seeing as I like to spend time with some older and some younger folks, I'd like to be at the same place as they are. So where is that? I did a search for hotels in Elyria and came up with a bunch. Some we stayed at before and a lot that we didn't. Some have changed hands and ownership, but most are still in the same location,,, go figure!!!! I also did a documentary on the reviews, and that is where I got confused and need some help. The reviews I noted were all posted mid to late last year or early this year. I kept cost into account and didn't look at anything over $100. Question is: When one person says there are bedbugs and the next person says it was the best bang for the money and no uninvited company,, who is right? Get my drift? So where do I sleep?
  17. Car Quest batteries were Deka at one time.
  18. Took out the cat and just replaced it with SS pipe. Lights up front are OEM and work just fine, no issues there. I did add more LEDs to the rear, and that was just a matter of choice, had to make it mine I guess. Clam shell bags tend to loose their innards before you can slap the lid closed and if you get that done right, when you open it everything comes spilling out. Now if you do it right,, not bad, but you really shouldn't pull on the bottom cloth and expect the rest to stay put. Air horns were a donation from Wizard765.They are now hidden in beside the frunk. Yes, I made my own belt tensioner at half the price of Lamonster, and it works well. Not sure how the 15-17 models are with vibration, but for the 14 it sure helps. It takes a bit of adjusting to get the back wheel aligned and the tension spot on. I made my own setup for alignment. 2 magnetic lazer levels, a special cone to insert into the front hubs and a piece of pine 1x4. Then just to figure out how to measure it all. Worked better than the dealer. Also made my own rear wheel balancer. Found that the MC wheel balancers were to light to handle the weight of the rear wheel and with a car balancer the shaft was too thick. So I spent an afternoon designing my own, That works good as well. If you want pictures your going to have to wait until I get things out of storage in the next week or so and get to work on the scoot. Then I'll see what I can do.
  19. Back in 2014 we bought a Spyder and sold the Venture. We test rode an 08 2 years before but were not impressed with the constant vibration, but with the 3 cyl that is mostly gone. Today, although I kind of miss the 85, I would not go back, Spyders are a way to much fun to go back to 2 wheels, but then so is VR.org so we're not leaving here anytime soon. Comments: Kenda tires are junk, get some Kumos. Sway bar needs to be replaced with a heavier aftermarket one. Rear brakes wear sooner than the front, rotten things are not cheap either. Lots of heat from the cat converter, so we took it off. It needs more lights, so we did that. Horn is wincey, so air horns were installed Alignment has been an issue in the past. If it don't track straight on it's own, it needs an alignment. Not necessarily done at factory or the dealer. Once it's right, WOW!! Oil change every 15,000km, but it takes a while, Get the filters on e-bay, much cheaper. Don't over do the tire pressures, go by recommend settings. Note; if rear tire wears in the middle, add more air, maybe a pound or two, don't take some out, wrong move!! It takes a bit to work on these things, but once you have the covers off it becomes easier, something like a GW. 4 areas of storage is somewhat handy, but the clam shell side cases,,,, well they are clam shell. Any questions? ask away. Goes like stink and uses about as much gas as a 2nd gen, maybe a wee bit more, but nothing like a trike.

Just got to see this. Met him one I think, but I noticed he was always ready to help when help was needed, and even if it wasn't needed. Guess we all got to face that part of our lives as well, and from I have read, he even did that well. May we all have such a tribute when we move on. Blessings to those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
  21. Wow girl, you two went through a lot. I guess we all like to think that we are going to live forever, but then reality sets in. Yep, we spend time together, learn to love each other and it all comes to an end. Losing a loved one can be tough and kind of leaves a person hanging, but at the time we don't know what it is that we are hanging on, or onto, so we are kind of in a limbo, until we find The Source. Blessing to you all as you wander through the next stage and re-discover a joy in your life. Thanks for being there for the others, they needed your support, and you gave them what you could, that makes you a friend worth having. What is your time-line for the layover in Toronto?
  22. Best do a check on the RR as well. With so few miles and already the 2nd stator, there maybe something making them go bad. Could be that the PO wanted to install a higher output one, or the original was a bad one, but it won't hurt to check it out.
  23. No need for a puller if you are changing the stator. Now if you want to change the rotor to replace the starter clutch,,,, you WILL need a puller and time and rags and a basket, and a new vocabulary.
  24. First thing to fix and eliminate guess work, would be the fuse block if it's still the original. Clean and check the battery connections and the ground connections as well as to make sure the ends are properly and tightly attached. Once that is done, you will have a better base to start from and may solve your present issue.
