  1. Sorry Jack, I allready have a Super Brace on mine..........nice when polished up, I sciped the clear coat. Kurt
  2. Mine has the same problem. I just skip second gear. I am going to get a newer motor that will not have the second gear problem. There are posts here that give you a step by step repair for this problem. You do have a nice bike. You can make a fair amount of money out of her on ebay. Bikes like yours and others are getting hard to find in good shape. Don't get me wrong they do come up but far and few between. If you really want to keep the bike it would be cheaper to rebuild the trans yourself (if you can swing a wrech) or replace the motor with a newer one. Eighter way good luck!~ Kurt
  3. If you have ever run a track bike and had a track mech. mount and balance wheels for you , you would see a true balance to your wheels. They check the balance of the balancer first and add wieght to true it out. Then they check the rim for it's heavy side. They mount the tire with the dot at the heavy side of the rim and then balance the whole wheel. Most of the time I have only seen a 1/2 oz. to 2 oz of wieght to get the wheel right. Kurt
  4. The number for the tool is: YM04019 I'm looking for one also............ Kurt
  5. I agree with the above. Every bike I have reworked the brakes on will not pump up until you bleed the master cyn. off first. If you have the right parts and it is assemble right you should have pressure after you bleed the master first. You can do this right on the bike. Fill the master up. pump the handle a couple of time and crack the bango nut loose right at the master. You should get air bubbles. do this a couple of times. You should start to feel back pressure at the handle. You should be able to bleed the brakes now. If you do this while on the bike just keep a shop rag. wraped around the master cyn. Kurt
  6. Ebay members allways seem to want more than what they paid for. What you put in your ebay add with pic's is what they are buying. I know your tring to help as I would, but if they want even more of the unit they should pay for it. There asking you to cut up a harness that someone might buy as a whole unit. I would have told them they need to buy the whole harness and let them cut it up the way they wanted. Kurt
  7. I found this to be true also. If they do anuthing with this old of bikes they just check the motor ID and the VIN. Kurt
  8. The only real way that Ca. DMV will accept it as a Ca. EPA bike is the sticker. This is located under the seat on most bikes Or the frame near the motor, There is a big Vac, box sitting over the front head. There is a canister near the fuel tank. These would bew the easy to look for. Kurt
  9. Thanks folk's I'll keep this all in mind..............btw, thanks for the link. Kurt
  10. So what do you think Randy, 85 or newer?? Would like to put a 1300 motor in there and use the 84 carbs. Kurt
  11. I going to replace the motor in my 84. It is starting to have problems in second gear. Second gear still works but it jumps under hard throttle. So sooner or later I'm going to put a new motor in her. I really don't have the time to tear down the motor to repair the tran's. I can replace a motor in about three days. I was wondering what range of years can I replace with?? Can a 1300 be exchanged to a 1200 frame?? I beleave after 85 they took care of the second gear problem , is this correct?? Thanks Kurt
  12. You say the bike was running fine until you stoped riding for awhile. You have been riding it for 5 years..............Vacuim leak comes to mind here for me. You may have some Vac. hoses that have cracked or have gotten lose over a preoid of time. Kurt
  13. One set of plug's runs hotter than the other I beleave it's the DPR8EIX9. Kurt
