  1. I already have that one...............
  2. The clutch cover is where I remember the difference. It is either the new fits the old or the old fits the new but not the other way around. My rememberer says that one has more internal clearance for something. I am hoping that it is the old had more clearance for the big clutch springs and the new with the thin diaphragm spring is the shallow one. IF that is the case then it is a double benefit to me and the plans that my warped little mind is working on.............. I will try to do some measuring on the outside of the covers and see if I can find a difference.
  3. Congrats on the new place, BUT I am betting that we can still get you some snow down there, maybe not for 9 months out of the year, but it is still in range......
  4. My kids know exactly what this one means as do their kids.
  5. OK now you got me thinking again, we all know that is always dangerous. If you look at the screw that holds the diaphragm cover to the carb can you get me a dimension from the surface that that screw bears on to the closest point of the tank. I have an idea that might save a bit of space, but I need an idea of how much space is actually needed.
  6. I know where it is, I put a lot of things in that same place. It is a nice safe place so that you will be able to find it when you need it........
  7. No problem, you only need to average 102 MPH. No problem for a Venture...... Oh wait your not on a venture, never mind...........
  8. I have an '88 1300 with stock engine covers. (clutch, water pump, middle gear, stator, valve covers) I also have a parts engine from an '85 1200. Are all of these covers interchangeable? For my winter project I was thinking of trying to do some custom work on all the covers for the '85 and then bolt them onto my '88 if they will fit. I do not care about the differences in nomenclature that is on them. Of course the differences in nomenclature make them different part numbers in the parts lists. I thought I remember reading that one of the covers is deeper for the 1200 vs the 1300, but I can not find it, and can not remember which way it was.
  9. I never measured it. I just kept snugging till all the play and wobble was gone. I am guessing it is around 4-5 lb/ft. I only turned the ratchet by palming the head.
  10. Oh sure another thread to tell me how old I am. I still have and use VHS, and Hi8 tapes. My only video camera is a Hi8 I still have a rotary phone connected and in use. I still have 8mm film and a projector. Communication satellites are still in use. I don't even know how to text, so yes "Call Me".
  11. Ummmmm If the boat lands at 6:15 and you are able to hit the road immediately upon docking that gives you 45 minutes to cover 75 miles. You might need to borrow Super Pucs Cape..................... DO NOT try to head out on I94 west. it is under major road destruction. Take I43 south to escape Milwaukee. I43 is the road you want to to end up on anyhow. Feel free to call me about local road destruction. It is a mess around here.
  12. There is one that looks a lot like that that lives in the Milwaukee area.
  13. It looks like the Helicycle is going up to fast for me. I was worried when I looked a few days ago and there was almost 400 views.
  14. That was kind of my thought. There seems to be a fairly high failure rate on the stock connector. Maybe find a better connector set that is waterproof and/or a higher amp rating, to help keep out the corrosion that kills the stock connector.
  15. Ya know I only live 4 miles from where the Lake Express unloads you...................... Make sure you at least wave as you go by.............................
  16. Small engines are not that complicated, there has to be a way to retro a standard Brigs or Tecumseh carb onto that thing? It should not be to hard to make up an adapter plate? Just find a carb for an engine with similar HP and dump the problematic FI system. I found this with some good looking info on troubleshooting the EFI. https://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/power-tools/power-tool-discussion-forum/33773-3300-pressure-washer-will-not-stay-on
  17. Do double check the head bearings after you now have some miles on it. I had the same issue and tightening the head bearings to a bit more than the book called for made it feel like it was back to tracking perfect.
  18. My Dekka AGM lasted me 18 months, The Yuasa before that lasted 7 years and I now Have 6 years on the Yuasa after the AGM. I do not own a tender, the bike just sat for a full month of being totally ignored, not even being started and it cranked and fired right up no charger needed.
  19. here is a complete guide to troubleshooting the charging system http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?81297-Testing-for-a-Battery-not-Charging
  20. I don't know if it works the same for bikes, but with a car you can take the VIN to the dealer along with proof of ownership and they can cut you a new key that will match what was originally on the car. That original should fit the tank and bags. Once you have working keys you can either live with it or look into getting it rekeyed so they are all the same or having a dual key made.
  21. E4 is almost always a bad solder joint on the CLASS board, usually at the connector pins. Easy fix if you know which end of the soldering iron to hold.
  22. Glad you figured it out while there is still a week or two of riding season left before the flies.
  23. Well I ordered some more parts today. The clips for attaching the fuel rail to the injector and the electrical connector with pigtails to fit the injector. I already have the injector.
  24. For just one cell to be 3/4 empty, either you have a leak, or it was never filled full in the first place. When you refilled that cell did you fill it with battery acid or water? If acid leaked out or was never filled in the first place adding water will dilute the acid that is in there and it will not make power. If it was an issue with the bikes charging system it would have done the same thing to all of the cells, not just one. Once the battery is activated and then the plates get to see air, they will oxidize and the battery is usually toast. There are additives that you can put in the battery that can break down some of the oxidation, they may bring it back. First thing is to check the specific gravity to see if you now have a cell full of acid or a cell full of water.
  25. It always takes them 3 years to iron out the bugs. So it will be the 2020 MKII.
