It is the principal of it, I have never yet had a wing that was to hot to enjoy. I had a running thing going with the chef at a place that I frequented, that his hottest wings were still not hot, he was constantly searching for hotter recipes. He never found one that was to hot for me to enjoy. So Yea, could call it a challenge. "A man has to know his limitations" I just have not found mine yet.

That Tippy,, she is something,, 37 years and she still puts up with me!!
Flyinfool replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
On reaching 37 years. Now only 63 more to make an even century. Prayers up for a good outcome with your visit to Dr H&S. I know that ain't never no fun, but at least you will have a smiling angle at your side for recovery. Now on the other hand, IF I had known you were going to have your carpet cleaned.............. -
If that low mile inexpensive motor is local Make sure that it at least turns over before you buy. If the motor is out of the bike you can connect jumper cables from your car battery to the starter motor to see if it turns over without any weird noises.

Fuel Pump Relay?
Flyinfool replied to s.tyler58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Why is your mechanic concerned about its condition? Just because it is old? Everything on that bike is old. Buying a used one will still be old. Is it working intermittently, or is it the run for 2 seconds and then stop that has him concerned, or is there obvious damage to it? If it is the short run then turn off, reread Bobs post. -

Did you try contacting Rick, he may already know how to do just what you need, especially since he already worked on it. -
This year no but next spring would have been a maybe. With my recent injury that power reverse could be the difference in whether I ride again.

You do not need a monster inverter that will try to suck 500 amps from the 12V source. You want one just big enough to handle the start up surge of the compressor. Bigger will just abuse the electrical system in your car. The data plate on the fridge or freezer will tell you how big you need.

Fuel Pump Relay?

Soooooooo......... What is your question about the fuel pump relay? -
The.308 Rem is a short action. Long action is for the bigger magnum rounds. Are you looking for an original or similar to original stock or something like a synthetic stock? There are lots of choices more than what I listed, from fairly inexpensive to very expensive. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/576675/champion-rifle-stock-remington-600-660-short-action-synthetic-black http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/SearchByKeyword?word=3ub362b https://www.stockysstocks.com/mcmillan-remington-mountain-rifle-700-788-600-fiberglass-stock.html

I also did a lot of searching and never found a source for the rear tire. So you will be at the mercy of the nearest Yamaha dealer to get a tire while on the road unless you bring a spare with you. I am sure it will not take to long for someone to figure out a trailer hitch for the new Yamaharley.

I know that generators are as scarce as hens teeth down there. Generac is a local company here they are working 24/7 pumping out generators to send to TX and FL. They are also running hiring adds to get more people to increase production. Since generators are so scarce right now, a less obvious route may be to pick up an inverter, just big enough to run the fridge or freezer, you can alternate which one you run for a few hours at a time then switch, it will keep things cold enough as long as you keep the doors closed. The inverter can be run off of your car. A tank of gas and an inverter is cheaper than the cost of what is in a typical freezer. While the freezer is running you can also be charging your phones. Inverters can be found in sporting goods stores, RV centers, camping supply, harbor freight, electronics stors, etc, I do not know what might be open in you area. It might be to late now to save anything in the freezer. Covering the freezer with heavy comforters and blankets will also help to keep in the cold, just do not cover the hot parts on the outside. As far as meat that is thawed but still cold, cook it up on the BBQ or stove or oven, and you can then refreeze it the same as any other leftovers. Any meat from the center of the mass that is still hard is still frozen and will be fine in the freezer. I do not but the "experts" that say if a freezer is without power for 2 hours everything in it is garbage, or a fridge that is off for 1 hour everything is garbage. Frozen is frozen whether it is at 0° or 25° it is still frozen and still good. But unless you are planning to cook everything up, do not open the freezer or fridge until they have power.

Went to Doc today to get stitches out. doc said it is healing amazingly well "for someone my age or for that matter any age". She did bend the foot a few times to stretch the tendon, that got my complete and undivided attention. She said I can start walking on it in 2 more weeks due to my fast healing ability. Hmmmm...... Maybe I am related to Wolverine....... So all is looking positive at this point, She said that once it is all healed it should be as strong as it was before. But dang that was a big hole she put in my leg, a good 8-9 inches long.

I am more of a KFC extra crispy but even though a walmart opened almost directly across the street from KFC, I have managed to single handedly keep them open. I still want to head out to Quaker Steak and lube to try their insainly hot chicken that you have to sign a waiver to order..........

clutch bleeder valve location!
Flyinfool replied to Twodog35's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There are a few members here that had to buy a new faring after spilling brake fluid on a faring. It eats the ABS slowly, first it soaks into the plastic then a few weeks later you will notice a soft spot that will finally crumble away and the edges of the hole will keep growing outward over time. You can not patch the hole because the brake fluid is still part of the plastic, you have to cut it out to be sure that you got it all and can then try to patch what is left. -
In addition to what Condor said, You said that you replaced the half plate but you did not mention the spring. The spring getting weak is what causes the slippage. Either the Barnett with HD springs or the PCW Racing HD spring which can be bought from @skydoc_17 on this site, will stop the slippage. While you are in there measure the clutch plates thickness, new is 3mm (0.1181 inch) thick and the wear limit is 2.8mm (0.1102 Inch), that is the only way to know if they need replacing.

Just as an FYI. There have been many mentions of covering things up before you start. The reason for this is that brake fluid is an excellent paint remover. It will eat thru any painted surface on the bike. The other nasty habit that brake fluid has is the it eats ABS plastic, Almost all of the plastic on your bike is ABS. The tiniest drop of brake fluid will eat a 3 inch hole thru any plastic part. The good news is that brake fluid and water mix well, So as soon as you are done bleeding get out the garden hose and rinse everything down really good to remove any brake fluid that got past your coverings. -

This is why it is important to have an accurate voltmeter installed on the bike. It gives you a chance to see that you have a problem before you are dead on the side of the road or do terminal damage to other pats. -
With my recent injury I am also in the same boat in deciding whether to keep or sell the Venture. But just because I may not have the venture is still no reason to leave this bunch of misfits call VR.org. So even if I have to sell the bike I will still be here to cause trouble and make sure that @cowpuc keeps :stirthepot: done properly.

Well the surgery went well and you all are not rid of me just yet. My heart did have a bad reaction to the pain meds when I got home so I have not been able to take any, Oh fun......... I went to the doc today to get the dressings changed and to have her take a look at things. She said it looks really good, and she was impressed that I have no swelling. She says that is a good thing. Apparently I did a real number on that poor old tendon not only did it tear in half but it also was shredded. The tendon is a nice tight bundle of fibers, when it breaks it usually just tears in half and just has to get sowed back together. but me always have to do things to the max, not only did I tear it in half but the bundle of fibers shredded lengthwise from the calf muscle to the heel. So first she had to sew and tie all the loose fibers back into a bundle, and then she had to sew the ends back together. the incision runs from the heel to the calf muscle. I will remain in a cast at least until my appointment next Wednesday, at that time I should get into a boot, but no walking in the boot till around Sept 27. At that time I will start walking with the boot and the crutches. Mid October I will start PT. Oh ya OUCH!!!!!

Is a MKI and a MKII interchangeable? I have a MKI that just needs some welding or brazing on the mounting bracket. Unfortunately it will be a while before I can get to the shop to do the welding or brazing. But at least the nipples look good.
