  1. Last I heard from him he was in Columbia MO and was expecting to be there a couple days to wait out some bad weather. But that was last Sat. We had a good visit with him as he passed thru, He was not prepaired to get this close to the WWW and nearly froze.
  2. Ouch! Glad you found that, it could have got real ugly real fast.
  3. 1157 defines the shape of the base. The "A" is for amber. The LL is for Long Life, this is often done by lowering the wattage of the bulb, a bulb that uses less power will cause the turn signal to flash faster.
  4. Most covers are not designed to withstand that much wind. Remember if you are driving interstate speeds into a headwind the a actual airspeed could be over 100 MPH, That will destroy most covers. If the cover fails the flapping shreds will beat the paint off anywhere they touch. A tarp would be near impossible to wrap tight enough to be sure it would not flap in the wind. Your best bet is either an enclosed trailer or a good wash when you get there. It should not get any dirtier than if you had rode it there, maybe even less dirty since the tow vehicle will eat some of the stones and bugs.
  5. Yes that air tube to the front forks (and rear if it is also disconnected) should be sealed. As the forks move up and down there is air pumping in and out thru that tube if it is open. This can be sucking in moisture and debris. Also the air space that is in the tubes acts like a spring as it compresses. If the tube is open then you are running with a much lower spring rate than you should be. This could be partly why you bottomed out the front end.
  6. Is the wire that is attached to a white with red stripe? If so then it is the battery sensor. We can explain how it works and how to fix it if that is what it is.
  7. Thank you so very much. I would have much rather been there than where I was.
  8. If the CMU is not lighting up to say the brake light is out, that means that there is no power getting that far. Glass fuses are notorious for causing issues. Check for power in the wires on both sides of the glass fuse.
  9. Check the grounds. Clean them even if they look clean.
  10. That looks like border line having stole one. Now the fun starts.
  11. How long ago did you place the add? The ads do time out and disappear after a certain amount of time. I think it is about a month but I am not certain.
  12. A nick in the fork tube that is to small to see or feel is still enough to take out a seal. Slide something like a woman's nylon stocking (DON'T tell the wife what you are doing with her stockings) over the tubes it will catch on the microscopic nicks to let you know they are there.
  13. If travel to Wisconsin is no issue then I have an '88 that is just about good to go. (I just have to put the clear coat on some new parts) If it were not for health issues, I would have been on it traveling across 4 states to MD right now.
  14. As long as all of your wet spots are just Rain. At least I was nice and it is not SNOWING!
  15. I do not know if you have it over there but a product called Berrymans is a fuel treatment that is stronger than seafoam. Since it is harsher than Seafoam you do not want to let it sit in the system for extended period of time. Ideally empty the fuel tank and use a half bottle of Berrymans to about 1/4 tank (1 US gallon) of gas. Run that for a bit to get it thru the carbs and let sit over night, then the next day go ride it like you stole it and park it over night to soak again. Do this until this mix is used up, then fill the tank with fresh gas and some Seafoam to flush out the Berrymans. If this does not open up the carb then the only option is to do a complete off bike disassemble clean and rebuild with al new seals.
  16. I do not know if it is even legal to be in possession of my world famous balls up nort O de border.
  17. This is the best I can do from a distance.\
  18. Wonderful, keep um comin please.
  19. Since the brake lights do not come on with either the front or rear brake, the obvious place to start is......... 1. Is the fuse good? Is it a glass fuse? 2. are the bulbs good? Does the brake light indicator in the CMU light up along with the red warning light?
  20. PLEASE????? PICS we need lots of pics of everything for those poor unfortunate souls that could not make it. Pretty please with sugar on top.
  21. Well after a very wild and hectic day with a lot of up and downs, it was finally determined that Erika has a congenital heart defect that does not need treatment other than pills forever. Much better than when they said she had a blockage of the "Widow Maker". We are home now. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
  22. We spent the last 2 days at hospitals. Erika in cardiac surgery right now to find the real problem. I hope to know more in about 3 hours.
  23. The 88 does have linked brakes, and the 88 does have the bleeder up at the steering head to get the air out of the top of that line. IF there was air in the system when you added the fluid, then you need to bleed the front left caliper and the line the runs to it. As for the brake lights, that is a whole separate issue. Does the brake light come on with the front brake?
  24. In the USA, every gas pump and ATM still use the mag strip. Most stores use the chip. Neither is more secure than the other. The chip helped for the first month it was out, it took the crooks that long to modify their equipment to hack the chip. Now some experts say the chip is even easier to hack. The crooks can read the chip from several feet away. So your card can be stolen just by walking past the crook on the sidewalk. The mag strip at least has to be swiped to be read.
  25. Bambi KNOWS better than to mess with my maters. Remember last year I was a cripple and could not mess with the garden. this year I am in much better shape so far.
