Eck I would sure like to meet you in person. I'm sure we can arrange something when it gets closer. But the March M&E is still going to happen. There may be a few of us that can get together again in April. I know I sure do like to eat....... and meet.......

It is great stuff, But it is also depressing. Makes me realize just how poor my artistic skills are. -

Gasoline vanishing
Flyinfool replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Go back to post 3. Mine did that about 4 years ago and never a repeat performance. Bike locked in shed. Gas tank locked. The only keys are in my pocket. No sign of gas in oil. No sign of gas dripping on ground. No kids still at home. Just a half tank gone. Never did find a plausible reason for it. On a 1st gen the top of the tank is well above the carbs. It is possible for gas to gravity feed from the tank to the carbs until the level of gas in the tank gets down to the level of gas in the float bowls. The pump has 2 one way valves that will allow gas to flow from the tank to the carbs but not allow gas to flow from the carbs to the tank. So it is possible for gas to drain from the tank to the carbs for about 1/3 of the tank. The best WAG that I came up with was that it was stored with a full tank, there was a small piece of dirt on the float needle seat allowing the slow leak, first time I ran it the dirt washed out never to return. Even though you have been riding it all week, I would still give the oil a good check for gas contamination, no sense doing any additional damage to the bearings. -
I think that that last modification may be the very best one. It will get you more top speed and likely better gas mileage at the same time. It is also the hardest to do, I wish you the best of luck in accomplishing it.

On Craig's List I always put in a disclaimer that I know all the scam tricks so don't bother. If it must be sold local I put that in there also, along with any other requirements of the sale, like cash only. I have found that it significantly reduces the amount of scammers and people that I have no intention of selling to. The scammers do not want to waste their precious time if they know you are on to them.

Testing will be at my home field. I do not know if Fon Du Lac will allow this beast. If they do I will likely bring it up there for one of their funflys. -

Erika and I are sorry to hear this news. -
Odd how your 1st Gen Runs much better on 4 cylinders
Flyinfool replied to Kc9ojn's topic in Watering Hole
It is even more amazing when someone is new to these bikes and is running around on 3 cylinders thinking this is pretty nice. Then they get that 4th cylinder to kick in and the smile nearly rips their head in half..... -
Well here is hoping that at least one of those job opportunities works out for you.

I will most likely lite this puppy up in the back yard on a test stand a few times. Flying will only happen at RC fields. I am pretty sure the club will allow this since I am the club president...... I might even have all of this by my March M&E. -

Pete I got to many toys to move anywhere, you'll have to move here. These fall into the realm of if you have to think about what to do next it is to late. 250 mph equals 466 feet per second, a blink at the wrong time and it could be gone. Yes there will be a few :mo money: in it by the time it is done. If it hits the ground at that speed it will be confetti. -

Puc It will take 22 minutes from my house to yours, going straight across the lake. -
Is that 2 friends now...... But Don we do have to return the thank you, if it wernt for the crazy number of hours that you put in to keep us maniacs under some semblance of control, none of this other good stuff would be happening. :group cheers:

Your close. The air compressor is for the ram air to get the engine started, and there is a heavy bungee cord to get the airplane up to flying speed on the ramp. And then it is hang on for dear life...... -

Ah Man.....

You don't have to pull the motor, just the one exhaust pipe. OR, just cut the clamp band and use a new clamp. -
Ahhh. Since you do not want it saved for you then we can send some your way..........

Ya I know this ain't MC related. BUT it sure do look like it will be fun. I just ordered this from Germany, it should be here in about 3 weeks. Then we get to see just how much trouble I can get myself into. I know that I am not the only one on this site that messes with RC toys. This should have a level flight speed of around 400KPH or 250 MPH. A little more coming out of a dive. It is called a Super Scout It has a wingspan of 44 inches and is 61 inches long. It should have a flying weight of around 14 lbs and the pulse jet engine has about 18 lbs of thrust. This means it can accelerate even going straight up. The whole rear half of the engine (the skinny part) will be glowing bright orange while it is running. It runs on a mixture of 50% gas and 50% diesel, with some 2 stroke oil added to that at a 50:1 mix. Sounds like a nice volatile mixture to me. Even though it looks like it is a complete aircraft, that is just a fiberglass shell, there is a lot of work that goes into making it flight ready. It will likely take me through most of the summer to get it built. Man I hate waiting for toys to show up in the mail.

Should we save some for you?

That sure sounds like rubbing to me...... Now we need a hard rain to wash the salt off the roads, and then a week of sun and wind to firm up the ground.

Some more minor questions
Flyinfool replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Putting the sensor in the battery will only warn you if that one cell has low acid level. If any other cell leaks it is the same as an unmonitored battery, the cell can be empty before you know you have a problem. Most battery leaks are from allowing a dead battery to freeze in extreme cold weather. I would just do the resistor and forget about it.
