In that kind of situation, a driverless car would be a great thing! Uber may be the next best. I know you are relieved that you didn't have to force it on him!

Multi compound tire wear
BlueSky replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If I remember correctly, that front tire was a Bridgestone Battlax BT021. I'm sure a lot depends on how much difference there is in the hardness of the two rubber compounds. This particular tire is a high performance tire and probably had a really soft compound on the sides of the tread. A dual compound tire may be ideal for the rear, but I don't think I would buy one for the front. -

The tire was on the front of a 2004 Kawasaki Concours when I bought it and the edges were worn leaving a 1" wide strip of rubber down the middle. It was a sport tourer bike and may have been ridden like a sport bike. The narrow strip on the front contributed to the tippiness of the bike. The old concours may be the hardest to ride at low speed of any bike due to the high cog (7.5 gallon tank mounted up top) and that tire made it much worse. New tires made a huge difference in how hard it was to control at low speed. Those are very reliable, fun bikes to ride. I dropped it on my foot breaking a bone and after getting blood clots in my lower leg my wife wanted me to sell it and I eventually did. -

Did you turn on the fuel valve? Dumb question, I know but it's happened to me. -
Surely glad you weren't hurt any worse. It does remind me of what NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano said one time. He had just had hernia surgery that was explained to him as "minor" surgery. He said he found out what "minor" surgery was. It was surgery performed on someone else!!! I would gladly help if I was closer. Nashville is a day's drive for me.

I'm a Viet Nam era US Army veteran but I didn't serve in Viet Nam. I was stationed in S. Korea instead. I lost a friend in VN and a cousin came home with a bullet wound in the abdomen. He made a full recovery. Another friend had a helmet shot off his head but wasn't injured. He brought the helmet home with him as a souvenir. Just about everybody my age knew someone who died over there, over 50,000 killed. I was fortunate that I didn't go to VN. And I am so grateful to the veterans who keep us safe. We can't do enough for our wounded veterans!

My Royale has too much stuff. I'd rather have a plain bike. I won't be adding anything for appearance. Stuff like the chrome front brake covers turn me off rather than on. Only change I plan to make is a 4 brush starter. Might think about a LOUD horn. I did buy an R1 brake caliper but I haven't decided whether I'll install it.

Nice looking truck. It should serve you well. The V10s never got variable valve timing like the V8s and the problems that sometimes causes.

I was thinking of all the police being shot in other circumstances, ambushes, etc. Certain groups are encouraging it seems to me especially when they march and say it.
-
It just appears to me that our current federal government is encouraging this terrible behavior and I really don't understand it.

To me fast food, burgers, fries, etc. tastes as good or better than anything bought at more expensive restaurants. When I grew up I ate a lot of dried beans cooked with fatback pork seasoning and that was as good as anything I've ever eaten to me. Well, fresh butter beans seasoned the same are hard to beat too. And my Mom's biscuits were greeaat! We ate simple and cheap and I thought I was the best fed kid I could be. My son says Beyonce is a sweet person and treats him well.

Not sure leaving that chemtool in the system very long is a good idea?

Gold weighs almost twice as much as lead. Not sure what effect that will have on the gun except that it for sure will slow down the velocity and increase the drop. But if you did hit something it should have more impact. Might blow up the gun due to increased presure in the barrel trying to expel that heavy bullet? It's amusing to watch the old westerns where the stagecoach robber slings the saddlebags of gold over his saddle and rides away. The bags would be so heavy, there wouldn't be much slinging going on. -

Sounds like where the USA is headed. -
Yeah, I agree on the politics thing. And honestly some of her recordings are not that much to my liking. But, I did really like the CMA Awards performance with the Dixie Chicks and the rest of the backup and especially the harmonica player and the Too Many Zooz Sax player. I didn't think her outfit was the most flattering outfit she could have selected either. But, she is the one who is worth several hundred million bucks and I am an old southern redneck who counts his nickels.

This is something to consider when you vote along with all the other issues.

I had the pleasure of visiting a lady who lived in England whom I met while she was in the USA visiting relatives. Anyhow, this was about the year 2000. She said the BBC controlled the tv and everyone had to pay about $500/year/tv if I remember correctly to get the broadcast. We do have the option of going to an outside antenna in some places anyway. I have a buddy who lives in the UP of MI and he installed an antenna with signal booster and he gets over 40 channels for free. Then he pays for a slow speed internet that barely meets his needs and $100/year for a cell phone. I'm paying $189/month for tv and internet and $99/month for two cell phones. I could learn from him. -

Commercials are intended to get our attention even if it means aggravating us or making us angry. I'm so thankful for the "mute" button. I understand that now 18 minutes of every tv hour is commercials, more than it used to be. -
Beyonce's performance with the entire entourage was a great performance. I may be just a little biased because my son is her recording engineer. He worked with the group when they rehearsed the performance and recorded it for release when the show's performance was completed. I recorded the CMA awards show and went back and watched my favorite performances. Tim McGraw singing "Humble and Kind" , the CMA song of the year was super. I also loved Keith Urban's performance. I'm not a big country and western fan, but talent is talent, and most everyone can appreciate great talent.

Sounds like the name Marie brings back bad memories. A positive name might be the ticket. Like Freedom! Excitement! Maybe Danger! I should name my bike "Mary" or the takeoff "Merry" my first "real" girl friend who was big, lean, fast, and exciting!

If you watched Beyonce's performance with the Dixie Chicks at the CMA tonight, you may have noticed "Too Many Zooz" playing in the backup. In fact the Sax player took the stage with Beyonce for a moment during the performance. Fantastic performance I thought!
