I do miss riding in New England. I do NOT miss Rt 16 and the Conway area. I agree, they do need a serious way to by-pass that whole area....a loop for rt 16 so I can head for the Rangley Lakes without spending an hour in one little town. This morning I got up early, backed both Ventures out of garage and let them run. I've been to busy with life...to ride. Soon....I'll be back....I hope!

One additional thought about the fuel filter. You said you ran it out of gas.....well...probably picked up some crud at the bottom of the tank. Don't be surprised if this happens again. Do suggest you take the tank off and clean it out. You might want to carry another new filter along with you...just in case. Regarding electrical. Ignition switch, emergency shut off switch and high/low beam switch can all cause similar issues. My vote is either an electrical shorted wire that's intermittent, a bad ground, the main fuse contacts, or a dirty switch. Good luck and let us know what you find. P.S. Oh no! Last night, after sadly reading the latest news, I was smiling, remembering his jokes as he drove Pat and I to the Friday night dinner at MD. We laughed a lot on that drive. What vibration? My v4 is smooth! LOL!

Not the speakers. The amp is forgiving enough. You would get lower/higher volume or music distortion at higher volume with impedance mismatch. My guess is there is a ground you've missed somewhere. Noise into the audio system is almost always a ground/loose connection issue and the audio signal is getting ignition noise due to not being isolated. Also, I don't remember if the 2nd gen has a noise condenser to smooth and ground out the ignition noise like the 1st gen. You might want to download the electrical schematics and trace through the audio signal paths and well as the audio power paths. Also, in my experiences with audio on a scoot... speakers cutting in/out can only be caused by bad connection at the speaker or cable at the amp, bad ground or power at the amp, Squelch for the CB set to high, an aux input cable/connection grounding out, or, a short in any of the above. Go back carefully and look at what you did during install. Verify your connections at each speaker and the wires. That would be the first thing. Take your time and try to look at the install from a fresh viewpoint. We tend to overlook what we thought we did right and miss the obvious. At least I do that a lot! You'll figure it out...

Sorry I'm late for this...just got back from a week in the woods in our trailer. I've had two types of dizziness: 1: vertigo...that is/was cured by doing the Eply manuever. This comes on with me on the sailboat...when I sleep with my head down. Don't do that anymore and so far...no more issues. But let me tell you how quickly I dropped to the floor wherever I was...serious vertigo! No way could I stand up... 2: Dizziness. I would wake up and find myself bouncing off the walls in the middle of the night going to the bathroom. It wasn't fun. Also got dizzy if I got up to fast and yet never had a problem while active. Two things were causing it....my allergies creating a middle ear issue (no cure really except go with stronger allergy meds...not my 1st choice). And my BP meds. Switched to amlodipine besylate 5 mg tab and that has eliminated most of it. The allergy dizziness is mild compared to the meds. I can still ride as riding/driving is an activity that seems to keep all the dizzies away. Thankful for that. So hang in there....and I'll send prayers your way hoping it's a simple med change!

I took one of mine to the local Ace hardware store. They had some that fit. I found 2 different lengths that fit the ports. I believe the auto parts stores also will carry small packs. They are cheap and easy to find here in the Tucson area.... Make some local calls and ask....Sorry...I don't know the inside dimension of the vacuum caps...

My 4 lights on the lower reflector need to be cut and a connector spliced in. I just haven't done that. Good reminder, thanks!

I've not been able to find the jacket link that I found and thought would meet all my requirements. It looked great and I thought I saved the link, but guess not. Otherwise I would have included that. I'll keep looking. If so, I'll either include it here or PM you. I'll look into the Joe Rocket, thanks. Update: Looked at the Joe Rocket. Sounded good until you said Black only. I know many guys and gals like black for riding scoots...but that's deadly for me in Arizona. I prefer the white/silver combo to reflect as much heat as possible...as the sun does get a bit warm...even at 75mph. So yes, I fear manufacturers don't think about us riders in the SW...or anywhere ...where heat and/or heat and humidity are killers.

The only problem I see with the Swat boots is the thickness of the soles. Riding the 1st gen, I've found some thick boots don't leave enough room to get the boot easily between the foot rest and the shifter. This can lead to problems, especially coming to a stop and trying to get the boot out before the bike falls over! But I'll take a look at the jacket and boots....thanks

High priced gear I would like to buy? Seriously? The problem I have is none that I've found meet the requirements I have for gear to wear year around in Arizona. I'm not asking for much....at least I don't think so! I've been looking for a serious 4 season jacket I can wear here in Arizona. Here's my thoughts. Requirements: 1: Serious protection from broken bones and road rash. Some way to measure road rash capabilities would be good. 2: Ventilation. Haven't found one yet (outer shell) that allows me to ride in typical Arizona heat. Especially the heat of the sun. I'm not talking about 110 degree June days, I'm talking about May through October...95 to 100 degree days. I won't ride anywhere in anything around those temps anymore....gear won't let me. 3: Pockets. Zippered pockets abound, but most of them won't handle a typical large phone in it's OtterBox case. One cheap brand(Bilt) actually does have an inside pocket up near where a typical pocket would be an on a man's shirt, zippered and large enough for the phone. I like the phone there. Easy to get to and you know right where it is at all times. 4: Removable liner for warmth. 5: Rain liner that can be worn over the top...much like a Froggs Toggs, with pocket access to main jacket. And a pocket in the rear of main jacket to store the rain liner. 6: Neck collar that will keep rain out but not chafe the skin. And I could go on....here's thoughts on other gear: So far, I've purchased great fitting, comfortable, excellent traction boots but they are way to hot to wear in any kind of heat. And no way to ventilate the feetsies either. So they don't work for me except in the winter. I've found the XElement brand of boots to be the best so far for my feet...and they wear well and are comfortable enough to walk around stores for a day! What ever happened to good old Army boots that are ventilated in the toes, water resistant and have armor around ankles and lower legs?? Good gloves. Under $100. These are actually available that do keep one's fingers and hands cool when you stick them out in the wind...but without a known quantity when it comes to protection. Helmets that actually do reduce wind and road noise levels, are lightweight, with good vision and good ventilation and don't cost $600.00. 5 helmets from various brands and so far...noise is still the top of the list. I see modest improvement over the years....but come on... Pants: I've given up on pants for protection. You can have protection or you can have breathability. You can't have both. So I'm back to jeans and use Bohn Body Armor underneath. They are lightweight, breathe well under the jeans and I know they will protect my bones. They won't help[ much for road rash, but aren't designed for that. You can wear them all day and forget they are on...until you need to go to bathroom. Why they don't put a zipper or velcro slot in them, I don't know. So that's my abbreviated list. I'm sure others can think of gear they have worn or want to buy... Hope this helps... david

Are the clutch line hoses old? I'm wondering if the rubber is expanding enough to not allow the clutch to work properly. Or...is the little ball at the end of the pushrod still there? If you were working on the system, did it get up and run away on you? I'm trying to think outside the box...since all the normal stuff you've already done multiple times... This is an interesting problem, for sure.

Yeppers. Did that right after I got my 89. It came from Wisconsin, so I figured there would be some corrosion and there was. Cut off about 1/2 inch and all has been good ever since. So far, the 2nd Gen wires and cap look clean as can be. I bought it from a gentleman in New Mexico, so that would explain why they are clean. It's the "Dry Heat" we have!

Rich, You will find the CLASS has another nice use....put the CLASS system in "auto".... crank up the rear, then front pressure... then go ahead and put her up on the center stand. She pops right up now! This comes in handy when you are traveling and are loaded. Just don't forget to let the pressure down once up on stand. The cruise control "shouldn't" add drag to the throttle cables. Unless they are dirty or need lubrication. Of course, the cable movement may be easier on the mk1's simply due to a simplified system. The CC works very easily although there is a trick that makes it slick....when at speed...hit "set", then "resume". She usually comes on quicker with less loss of speed. Remember, this is a 1st generation "computer" controlled system...kludge is the word that comes to mind. But it does work well. I like it better than the 2nd Gen CC. My 89's brakes are still linked. I like them, they work well. Suggest you try them out after you clean up the system then make your decision. I still have low speed stability with the rear. You could make your own knurled knob covers for your side bags and use them instead of the screws/bolts. Makes it faster to get the bags off. And yes, you can get quite a bit of stuff in those Mk2 bags. Much more than I can in the 2nd gen!
