  1. Glad you made it home safe, kinda. Ya know, they make these things called aero-planes that scoot cross country really fast. Good luck with the fixes, and glad the red grease held up well.

    Gwen

Rats, I was hoping for a lady friend .
  4. That's what I was thinking. I'm guessing the bike arrived at Dealer in a box and had to be assembled, and that is where the fault will lie. Either that, or why you were inside the Hardly Dealership, all the staff was drooling over it, and sabotaged it.
  5. I avoid those gravel roads at all costs. A few months back, in Indiana the idiots backroad rural repair crew, I ran into a crew putting gravel down, spraying it with oil, then steam rolling it. I navigated 100 feet of the gravel / oil, without being steamrolled, and scared the crap out of me. I avoided that road for weeks. Be safe, gravel will leave a mark
  6. State Farm, I have 250/500k with $500 deductible. Collision/uninsured/underinsured. Full coverage. $291
  7. Ooooooooooooooooo, I see it now. Must be your guardian angle catching his breath.
  8. Does the sign on the trunk have anything to do with this riddle?
  9. Buy some land, and buy a Park model trailer. You'll be sitting fine for 15k
  10. Lots of good posts from this thread in April https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?135545-Insurance-Renewal-time&highlight=insurance
  11. It actually hurt me a couple MPG. I'll be curious for you. Someone pointed out that higher octane may have meant less energy??? They lost me, but I did get a little worse MPG, and as previous post states, I always get 40 MPG.
  12. I check MPG with every tank. My 83, cruising mostly 55-60, country twisties, rarely on HWY, some hot rodding, I religiously get 40MPG.
  13. Thanks for your hard and thankless effort Freebird. Many do not know how much BS things like this create and what a pain the the butt they are to remedy.
  14. You might need to clear your cache. ??? Windows 10 works fine on my end, with the couple exceptions already noted.
  15. Although on this site, I use a different email than I use for my phone, and never have any issues, but it seems my GMail account gives me a 'timed dump' occasionally.
  16. Ya, I thought he greased his rear wheel, but on new rubbers and was heading west. Based on where he tends to camp, he probably doesn't have cell service. I know a few have his cell#, maybe they can check in on him.
  17. Thanks for your shops 2 cents. I buy Rotella for my 1st Gen, I like Rotella for my 1st Gen, I have never had a problem with Rotella with my 1st Gen, and I will continue to buy Rotella for my 1st Gen.
  18. You are very correct Prairiehammer, thanks for correcting me.
  19. I would start with bleeding the proportioning valve. Seems to be a high point for air to get trapped. You can reach up under the fairing and get at it. You can push on the brake with left hand and open/close connection with right. Lay a towel over tire, it will be a drippy project.
  20. Ouch, that stinks. Hope you are alright, material things can be replaced. And that's why we buy insurance. Hope they can get you fixed up and on the road quickly.
  21. Holy Crap, that's hot. Here in Indianapolis, we've had many days above 90, but not hit 100 yet. I try and stay off my bike after 90 deg. Blizzard, hmmm, Got me thinking of Dairy Queen.
  22. Sounds like an 'o' ring to me. Hopefully a $2 part, and 10 min labor. We all know how those projects go. Glad you got a nice ride in anyhow.
  23. I am not sure which o-ring you are asking, but here is a link to a parts break down, and when you select your bike and find your part and part#, Google the part number and I bet you find your answer. https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/c/yamaha_motorcycle_1984/parts
  24. Last 3 days, I mounted the new tires, greased everything as it should be, changed oil + filter, changed antifreeze (may have been original, smh) all new brakes, took apart dash and CMS again, resoldered all connections, gas gauge still not working correct, washed, waxed, and took it for 100 mile ride in the hills. Riding real nice right now.
