Hi LA

can't wait to see how you like your CT. we have ridden a lot together and you already know how much I like a CT on my Goldwing. I don't think there will ever be another MT tire on the rear of my bike. good luck with your new tire, you have now started down the Dark Side. ha ha

No offense, but.......NO WAY, NO HOW!! I figure there just has to be a reason, why there are special tires for motorcycles and personally I don't want to chance it to save some $$. I will pray :2133:that you gamble is correct. Be careful on the test ride LA!

A friend of mine has been running a CT on his Wing for the past 4 years. Other than having to go easy in the twisties he swears it is the best mod he ever did to that bike.

I'll stick with MC's despite that thank you.........:rotf:

Hey wildhair, where did you get that tire? And post some pics will ya? You know the rules around here.

The reason there are motorcycle tires is because people buy them. They have y'all buffaloed into believing that motorcycle tires can't last very long. It's BS. For those who don't know how to think for themselves, you're certainly welcome to keep unnecessarily feeding excess amounts of money to the MC tire manufacturers.

There is a new forum on Delphi just for this subject. It's been nice to be able to read, ask questions, and get information without others hollering that the sky is falling.

http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/start

For those who want WWs, like me, here is a place that will take literally any tire you want and vulcanize a WW onto it of any size or width. What's great about this is that they can do both sides. Cost is really no worse than buying one rear MC tire, and depending on how long you keep a bike around, it may be the last rear tire you put on your bike.

hi lowell

welcome to the dark side. i now have over 2,000 miles on the c/t mod and i love it. i know this is not a mod for everyone but it's working for me. and thats one thing i like about this site the sharing of info, new things. i have been reading about the d/s on the delphiforms, all good reports. your friend with the gw with the c/t helped plant the idea. if it's good enough for a g/w rider it's good enough for me. i will keep posting of my experience with the c/t mod. and if i know you, you'll have 10,000 miles or more on your c/t before christmass.

be safe, live well my freind see ya soon.

Just curious , is there any way the MC manufacture or the Insurance company can deny claim if an accident or a warranty issue were to happen if running a car tire ? :255:

BEER30

Gene as I posted before yes they can deny it as it is not designed for the application. I have seen it in other applications like car tires on trailers and that is their loophole. You bet they are looking for them too. We are nothing but money to them.

hi tt

would you not run a hack/sidecar rig on the rsv if you wanted one. the owners mauel i belive says not to do it BUT there are folks who do. i have chosen to go to the DARK SIDE with this c/t mod. as i have stated this mod is not for everyone and thats ok. i will share my experiance with this mod as i put the miles behind me. i am a F.A.A. certified aircraft maintance tech. with over 20 years experiance. back in my early days i worked for a major regional airline. my last job there was in the tire shop i would break down and rebuild tire and wheel assy's. O did you know you mybe flying on a airplane that has recaps on the landing gear. yes a/c tires can be recaped up to 8 times as long as the tire body is in sound shape. we use to get recaps from a company up in west verginia called wilkerson. these recaps were cetified to be used on aircraft.

i also used car tires on my double axel trailer that i used to haul my old ford 8n tractor around on. now i would not put c/t's on a heavy duty trailer. but down here no one gives a rat's behind if you use a c/t on a trailer. i just wanted to share some info with you and others. i did read on the delipi forms about the insurance issue and what i read there was no problem. but i guess there's sue happy people everywere.
