Marcarl Posted September 7, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2012 Anybody have a good handle on when we could experience fall colors? We had an early spring. We had a hot summer. Not much rain this year, kind of dry around here So does all this effect the fall colors? We're seeing spots of color already here and there. Want to plan a ride,,, but when? I have been thinking the same thing. Northern ontario could turn while we are still somewhat green. I have been kind of thinking an early group breakfast at the Table Top in Burlington and then a good color ride north. I had been talking to Kerri the owner there and she assures me she would have no trouble accomadating a large group of hungry bikers. I have eaten breakfast lunch and dinner there and the meals are excellent. they also take reservations. here is a link to there web site http://thetabletop.ca/ Edited September 7, 2012 by saddlebum

Miles Posted September 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted September 7, 2012 Anybody have a good handle on when we could experience fall colors? Despite the fact that I currently live on the West Coast, by choice, I am a true New Englander by birth, heart, and politics. The best road in all of New England to ride is Highway 11, from Fort Kent, Maine, riding south down to Bangor, Maine. Very nice two lane road, lots of farm land, but the hillsides are just gorgeous for leaf peepers.

alwrmcusn Posted September 7, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 7, 2012 East Tennessee/western North Carolina mountains are supposedly going to be displaying peak colors the first half of October. I'll "guesstimate" most all of October however.
Flyinfool Posted September 7, 2012 Share #8 Posted September 7, 2012 Around here the trees are not going through the color phase. With the drought we had this summer many trees are just turning brown and dumping the leaves. It will be a weird year for fall colors.

In fact, there is quite a bit of colour already north of Bracebridge, but that is likely more due to our hot and dry summer. There are some good sites that report on fall colour status throughout the province such as the following: www.ontariotravel.net/publications/fallcolourreport.pdf

darthandy Posted September 11, 2012 Share #15 Posted September 11, 2012 We just got home from a trip to Montreal and along the 401, West of Cornwall, we saw a lot of trees already starting their colour change. I would estimate that they will be in full colour by the end of the month. Around here, the leaves have been going almost straight to brown and falling off...too much heat, too little water! It's going to be very tricky anticipating the best time to get out. Of course, that's also a great excuse for getting out each weekend - to avoid missing the best time!
