  1. From first time I found this web site I have learned a lot about my bike a XVZ 1300 ctt. 2. I purchased my RSV off the shop floor back in 2007. Had zero on the clock when I rode it away (solo then & a big mother!!) Apparently mine was the last new one in Western Australia AND Yamaha are not importing any more RSV's into Australia unless specifically ordered and deposit paid. No pictures, or info in the new bike sales section on line here anymore either. So, I now have a "VERY" special bike indeed:happy34: There are two others' down here in my area, and both are members' of my branch of the Ulysses Club. They have 2006 models. The only other one I've seen is a white one--so they are few and far between over here on this side of the big island.
  3. Hey gang. I've posted elsewhere on this site about an annual trip me and my 4 brothers do every year before Easter. 2008 was year 5, and in the name of technology one of my brothers decided to mount a video camera on his Harley and film some of our ride. He's pretty tricky with A/V stuff, and he produced this little gem. Just to give you some stats - our ages range from 42 to 56. We live in different parts of the east of Australia, with the 2 brothers furtherest apart being separated by over 1,000 kms. So this year we met in the middle at a place called Stanthorpe, just over the border in Queensland. The bikes involved are my 2004 RSV, a 2007 Harley, a 2004 Harley, a 1998 Harley and a 1983 Honda Super Bol d'or. Enjoy - and I hope it loads okay for you. http://www.members.ceinternet.com.au:80/tpearson/assets/Stanthorpe.WMV
  4. Do we have any VR members from New Zealand? Don, would it be possible to update the Members List in order to identify by location those members from outside the US and Canada? Unless I'm missing something, the only way of finding them is by clicking on the Full List or Yukon which brings up everyone. I know we've got members in Australia, Iceland and Britain but not sure if there's an easy way of locating them. Heading to NZ next spring and would be nice to meet up with a fellow VR member if anyone's down there. Thanks.....Doug
  5. I've bought an '87 1300 engine to swap with my '83 1200. I was told it would be a simple swap with no problems. Has anyone done this swap before and can you tell me what surprises are in store ? Jim O'D Darwin, Australia.
  6. Greetings all. I've been sending emails to Flatout Motorcycles in Indianapolis, Indiana but getting no response. I tried to ring them once, but it was too late in the night here in Australia to wait around for them to open up in their morning. I want to know if they have a 2008 rear shock for a 2004 RSV that I can buy from them through their website. You may know from other posts of mine that my shock crapped itself, and after shopping around I've settled on a genuine CURRENT model replacement. A fellow Aussie member lockdoc said he bought a 2005 one from Flatout for his 2004, and It's been suggested to me that I go for a 2008 model unit due to apparently better modifications. Now, herein lies my problem. THEY WON'T TALK TO ME! Is there somebody on this forum who lives nearby to flatout who can give them a ring on 317-890-9110 and ask them to respond to my emails, or email me so I know we're talking? If whoever is in a position to do so would like to PM me, I'll supply my email address for relaying to them. Sorry to be so long-winded, but I'm in a bit of a rut. Needless to say I can land a genuine unit in Australia from America, far cheaper than I can buy it here at home. Crazy, but true.
  7. Sorry guys and gals. Couldn't find anywhere else to post this so I've brought it down to the Watering Hole. Looking for a good read from another part of the world? Have a go at this any time you feel the need. This is the premier motorcycle magazine in Australia. You never know. Those of you talking about coming 'Down Under' for a look-see might just get the push you need. I have every edition of this mag, and it's such a good read - as soon as I get it I sit / lie / slouch etc and overdose on it from cover to cover. One of my few permitted times of not being interrupted by 'She Who Must Be Obeyed!' Y'all enjoy it now, y'hear? http://www.roadrider.com.au/
  8. G/DAY MADDOG HERE AGAIN. I AM AFTER SOME INFO ABOUT PUTTING A CD PLAYER IN MY VENTURE SIDE PANELS AND WONDER IF ANY ONE HAS FIXED A CD PLAYER IN THEIR VENTURE. IF SO HAVE YOU ANY PHOTOS THAT I COULD VIEW AS I HAVE HEARD THAT THE SIDE PANNIERS ARE THE BEST PLACE TO FIX THE PLAYER. LOOK FORWARD TO ANY REPLYS. AGAIN XMAS GREETINGS TO ALL:starz: __________________ AUSSIE 1MADDOG:7_6_3[1]:
  9. Well here in the land of Oz it is really quite difficult to go and buy yourself a RSV. Checked with a lot of dealers all over the country and there are no stocks. The very last 07 RSV was shipped out of here to New Zealand. I'm a bit disappointed that Yamaha Australia are still listing the 07 XVZ 1300TF on their inventory but are no longer importing them to Australia. So looking for any used bikes around the whole country there are only 3 for sale that I can find. I'm doing a deal for a white 04 with around 25,000 kms on the clock (15,500 miles). The only problem is it is 3,000 miles away. Gee, I must be keen:thumbsup2:. I've booked my flight for Monday week and am going to ride it back from north of Brisbane to Perth. (will soon find out if I like the bike or not). Have to decide if I will have time to return on the coast road or cut across country and save myself 1,000 kms. Just wish I had a few weeks instead of a few days to ride back.
  10. I used to ride a Royal Star Classic and my wife still has fond memories of that bike. I'm in the throes of selling some property and I'll have some cash available to buy a new tourer. I'm having mixed feelings on what to buy as this next bike will be a keeper.(I always say rhat when I buy a bike.) There are only two bikes I'm looking at and they are obviously the Venture or a Wing. Both these bikes are alot more expensive to buy in Australia. On the road a New Venture will set you back $A28,500 and a Wing $A43,000. Used - at the moment there is a white 2004 Vemture with 4,740 kms on the clock for $A23,000 and also a 2001 Wing with 73,000kms for $A24,000. ($1 aussie dollar gets you 86cents american at the moment. Bikes are a lot dearer here). I still prefer the look of the Venture although it it starting to show its age with no real updates. Also the 2007 will be the last model to be imported into Australia. Yamaha will not be bringing in the 2008 model. There is always a good market for used Wings here. Pretty much I can get a new venture for a three year old wing. What to do?
  11. Hi I have just replaced the original brigestones on my tour deluxe and have replaced them with Metzler ME880 on both front and rear. I am having all sorts of problems with the handling now. It feels like the front end wants to go from under me when powering around corners. The front end seems so light. I have 36psi in the front and 40 psi in the back. Any suggestions. Regards Tapi (Western Australia)
