Thanks, we both got the 8g. Really like them.

No public transportation out here in the boonies. I tell you what, you have never felt a shock until you shell out 23 bucks to fill a MOTORCYCLE fuel tank. That's the most I spent over the summer at one time. I have to fill the tank every other day. That was really hurting me. Felt like a pay raise when the price started dropping. LOL No problem parking either. There are 4 of us with 5 parking spaces. Believe me I sometimes envy those with the ability to take public transit. Especially on Thursday and Friday evenings when the week has been REAL long and I have that long drive home.

Thanks for all the replies. We took the plunge tonight and bought 2.(Thank you Uncle Sam) Still trying to figure it out. SilverT putting that much isn't actually all luxury. I put 500 miles a week just going to and from work rain or shine, hot or cold. But heck all rides are good, some are just better than others right. LOL Att supports Road Runner POP3 mail they just warn that some Wi-Fi spots may not. I guess it's already set up to leave the mail on the server because I can still get it on my pc. I haven't been able to get the WEP to work yet, but I'm still trying. Works great if I shut WEP off though. Much faster than the ATT Edge although it's not too aweful slow. I can't find where to put the WEP encryption key in. I think I will do the MAC filter though that sounds fairly safe. Someone would have to hack the system and clone my MAC address to use the network. I know it won't be totally secure, but my PC has a firewall on it. Thanks again and if I figure out how to get WEP to work I'll post it.

Well I put around 25,000 miles a year on my scoot and I have been through some real frog stranglers, so I figure it is worth the money just to be able to get up-to-date radar images. The rest is a bonus. I get weather on my GXM-30 but it only shows temps and forecasts. I have been as some meet and eats where members bring out their phones and pull up the weather radar and at one meet we were able to see the snow line as it was moving towards us. That allowed others to amend their route home. To me that is a safety item that is worth the extra money. I may not be able to stay in front of technology, but I sure can run beside her.

Cool. Does it use WEP at home or do you need to go unsecure?

Thanks that's the info I needed. I don't text a lot, in fact I hate it. Email is fine. Speaking of email I read that it does pop email and I am on road runner. I have run into situations where I tried to set pop email up on networks other than a RR network and it wouldn't allow me to do it even though it had internet access. More than likely it was a firewall issue. I'm really hoping I can get my pop accounts over the iPhone. I don't do voice dialing too often and when I do it was on the bike only to check whether my mic was working. I could care less about sending pics, it's never been my thing. I have heard that about them. I was also told that if you were not using the 3G part of it you could turn it off and conserve the battery. Not sure how you would go about doing that though. Thanks for the info.

I understand that it is on top of the phone bill. It's the data plan, but do you have to pay more for texting? I also understand it's for each phone. It would be nice if they had a family data plan.

We had ours done several weeks ago before the Govt turned on their computers and have already received both State and Federal. We're going Sizzlin! We're going Sizzlin!!
-
Does the $30.00 data package cover everything? Unlimited texting/internet? I'm not big on text messaging, but sometimes it comes in handy. Yeah I have heard it's basically a hand held PC that happens to have a phone. LOL
-
Well there you go!! LOL You would think that since I have been a customer of Cingular for 8 years that I would know how to spell their name. Not too bright, yep that's me.
-
Yeah I have heard that Blackberry is a good phone but to me the keyboard is way too small.
-
You may want to check the coverage again. Since ATT and Cinglur merged their coverage is much broader. I have yet to go somewhere I don't get a signal since the merge. Just a thought. I had a friend who had the same problem and right after they merged he was able to get 5 bars at his house.

Thank you.

Well I just checked, I live in an EDGE coverage area, but I work in a 3G coverage area.

Thanks for your quick replies. It's better to get information from the folks here than trust everything you read. Some people have agendas and might not post truthful answers in some of the reviews. That's what is refreshing about this site, people are honest and forthright. As far as using the applications, well I asked Krome Rose that very thing, she is very excited about the iPhone and all that it offers and that really surprises me since for the longest time she has been a technophobe. Since I got her interested in this site she has really come a long way with understanding these toys we call computers. Me on the other hand, well lets just say I'm a gadget guy. I love stuff like this and will no doubt put the iPhone through it's paces if that's the way we go. I had Krome Rose watch the Apple Propaganda Video on the iPhone and when that guy said the words "Purchase online" her eyes lit up and she said to me "I can buy things with this?" I quickly told her "NO". Ooopss!! Nothing like closing the barn door after the horse already got out. I'm glad you mentioned not being in a 3G area because I need to check and see if we are. I'm pretty sure we are since the Marine Corps has pretty much issued everyone above E5 a Blackberry. Wish I had early warning of that purchase, I would have bought stock. LOL Thanks again for the quick replies and I'm sure I will have more questions.

Seriously considering getting an iPhone for Krome Rose and myself. I have been researching them along with the LG Vu, LG Shine, and LG Insite. Apple has so many more applications for the iPhone and the LG's run on a Windows platform. From the reviews I have read on LG's they don't seem very reliable. Are the iPhones a good reliable piece of equipment? Are they easy to use, or is there a steep learning curve? Another question I have is about the iPhone Maps program. Does that come standard on the iPhone and does it cost extra over the required data package? Thanks in advance.

No Mike they are not pink. They are black. TEW47 I think you will be very happy with them. They are very comfortable and the knee/chin protecters really do keep the cold off of my knees. Very warm. BigShell I know what you mean about finding chaps that fit. I was surprized that larger ones didn't cost extra either. I too wore thermals below 40, but my knees would always hurt from being cold, not anymore. I have used them without the pads and while they are still warm, they are not near as warm as with the pads in them. They really do make a difference.

Anybody know whether Safari on the iPhone works with this forum? Seriously thinking about getting a couple for me and the little lady.

Didn't Netscape Morph into Mozilla? I haven't seen Netscape in many moons. I would assume that not many web publishing software these days would even have the code for Netscape.
-
I totally agree, that's why I didn't get too deep into the IP thing. :-)

Maybe it was Squidly, have you seen the "picture"? If anything deserves a ban it's that!! My eyes are still burning!! :hurts::hurts:
-
True it is more than likely dynamic, but it used to be that most dynamic IPs were assigned for 10 days at a time and if they are using a broadband connection it would usually renew to the same IP at least that was the way it was years ago. Times being what they are they might have changed how they do things these days. Even still if that is the way it's done someone with computer savey would know how to get around that.
-
Do you have the ability to IP ban? If not, maybe the server provider can do it for you. Granted there are ways around it, but not all people are wise to the ways.
-
Loved the ladies but OMG that one of Squidly, that's just wrong!!! Man I'm gonna have to slaughter a pig to get that image out of my head!!!!

That is where the relay comes in. If you put a switch to break the power circuit you will be putting anywhere between 5.8 to 9.1 amps through that switch depending on what bulbs you have in or intend to go to in the future. That's a lot of amperage that you don't want to get popped by on a rainy day. The relay breaks that power line safely and only uses milliamps to operate. Understand that it can take less than an amp to kill you under the right circumstances. Use the switch to control the relay and the relay to feed the main power to the lights.
