1. I think I have everyone beat.....got mine Tuesday....of course i am only 90 mins away.....hoping to install this weekend to make sure everything is good, then its time to pull the carbs and start swearing at them.....sorry, meant clean them. and both fork seals started leaking this winter, whilee sitting in the garage on the center stand
2. Nope, no angiogram. Just the stress MRI, which is VERY, VERY freaky feeling. You are in the MRI machine, totally still, and they use a drug to make your body think you are running, or whatever. I felt like I had just run a couple miles at top speed and couldn't catch my breath. I asked why they do it that way and they said they can bring the heart back to normal with another drug, in case something happens. And I had my heart cath through my wrist, not the usual groin area....much easier recovery. My heart was at about 25% Ejection Fraction. about 45-75 is normal. As of 2 weeks ago, i am back up to 45%, so I guess all the meds/lifestyle changes are working:cool10:
3. I just turned 45 in January. I had some of these issues last August. I was always tired, had to stop and rest half way up the basement stairs, falling asleep whenever i sat down, barely being able to mow the lawn. Have had sleep apnea for about 15 years and even using my CPAP machine did not seem to help anymore. I have a strong history of heart issues on both sides of my family. I went to an urgent care on a friday afternoon, had an abnormal EKG, went to the ER, had another EKG which looked normal but they deceided to give me the treadmill stress test Saturday morning. I did not get the stress test because my heart was too weak to risk the extra load of running, so I had a stress MRI instead. Also had a heart cath. After six days they sent me home with 7 prescriptions (15 pills a day), and 6 diagnosis: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, mild coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibulation. Had a heart monitor implanted 2 fridays ago since I have no physical symptoms of the A-Fib. But my heart is back to the bottom of the normal range in strength and I feel healthy for the first time in almost a year. Should have listened to my wife months ago.......... Sorry for the life history, just wanted to say you are doing the right thing not putting it off.... Will keep you (and anyone else) in my prayers and thoughts ....... Of course, the 30+ pounds i have lost with diet and exercise hasn't hurt either
4. After trying to fly (crashing) my neighbors 120sr a few times, He borrowed a Blade mQX quadcopter from one of his co-workers for me to try. After bouncing it off the ground a few times and not hurting it, i went out and bought one about 3 weeks ago. Having a blast learning and can usually set it down without crashing now. I did break part of the body in a full speed blast into the house (within the first 5 mins), but no other damage. I am amazed at how durable it is. Very glad i got one:)
5. I'm in, as long as I can scrape up the funds in time. I replaced the diodes, but think it may have been too late......
6. Here you go. Let me know if you need any other pics...
7. I work until 5 (eastern time) today. I will get some tonight if no one has done it yet.
8. almost through the second can of seafoam.....the right front cylider cuts in and out. It is getting better, would barely idle when I got it. When warmed up completely, it mostly fires on all 4. Previous owner said it sat for a year, but tags were expired almost 3 years. Changed plugs, wires and air filter just to get it to start. I had a Magna that had the same problem, and after pulling/ cleaning 4 times in a month, sent them off, and it ran nearly perfect even before a sync.
9. Hope this is the right place... I have a '83 Venture Standard. Anyone in the Columbus, Ohio area have access to a ultrasonic cleaning tank? Or someone on the list know of someone with one. The shops around here want $50 per carb body, with me doing the dissembly/reassembly. I used to send them to a guy in texas, but it has been a few years, and I cant find his info. Also, anyone have experience with the Harbor Freight (or similar) tanks? A waste of money, or worth it? Any input is appreacited. Thanks, Kurt
10. I am in need of a speedo for my 83. I found all the posts about the howling speedos after my brand new cable broke. What other years will work? If any? Up to 85 or 86? Anybody got one? Thanks in advance for any info.
11. I checked the solenoid input....12v on one ground on the other.....bike cranked and started......followed the wiring diagram and found the starter cut out relay......noticed it didnt click when key was turned on/ in neutral/sidestand up but figured it should. also noticed it was getting warm when key was on. opened it up and it was rusty/corroded inside. I removed the contact plate and cleaned everything up and cycled it manually until it started working. now to replace the big pile of screws that hold half the fairing on...... Dingy, thanks for the clear diagrams.......the pics in my manual are impossible to read
12. I tried a solenoid the PO gave me with no luck. But I have no idea if it is any good. Any known substitutes I might be able to get from the auto parts store? I would think a standard ford external solenoid would work, except for size? If the lights are dimming , that should indicate the handlebar switch is good? Maybe one for a riding mower would work. Trying to get back on the road quickly and cheaply, but safely. My blazer is killing me on gas on my 50 mile commute to and from work every day.
13. Hello, I finally got my 83 Venture running well enough to ride. Rode to work Saturday. All went well. Got home and went to leave again, Hit the starter button and nothing. No crank, headlight goes out, and gauge lights dim. It will start and run if I jump the starter solinoid contacts. I took my starter switch apart and cleaned the contacts but it made no difference. I found a guide on cleaning the switch by Dingy (old thread from 2009). I noticed that in picture 12, the switch contact pad looks like it is raised. Mine is completely flat/smooth. Would this keep it from making contact? Also, if i flip the kill switch on and off, I can hear a relay switching, so it seems like the kill switch is good. I havent had time to do the tests on the switch yet. I just saw what looked like a possibility. Any thoughts?
