  1. for my '86 VR...... -- and the tough one: stock needles and main jets (to replace the non- stock ones on there now) I know I will probably need a set of carbs to get the needles, so they dont need to be pretty. I would just buy a nice set and be done with it, but thats not in the budget. Anyone interested in some custom high flow intakes??????????
  2. Looks like I have the Venture heads, judging from the picture. Is there an easy way to tell if the cams have been changed?
  3. Would that explain the mercury in my carb sticks going straight to the top of the tubes, no matter how slow i can get it to idle? I guess I will experiment some with it, and see what I can do. At least until I can replace the intakes, needles, probably some of the jets.. I will spend a little extra time with a bench sync, since thats all I can get. Dingy- would I need a new map inthe ignitech to account for the higher flow? I removed the stock TCI. Unless someone is interested in them......
  4. Don't know yet. Been trying to get the carbs synched, but am having trouble with the idle being too high and not adjusting. I think i have a linkage problem somewhere keeping the carbs from closing all the way. Hopefully i will get it figured out in the morning.
  5. They are just slid into holes in the boots. They do turn by hand, but from what i recall seeing while the carbs were off, they look like they were made this way, not modified. I will check tomorrow when I pull the carbs off (again).
  6. I was thinking that too.....This is my 3rd first gen, probably about the 15th bike in my lifetime and I have not seen anything like it.
  7. Been wondering... My 86 Royale has aluminum tubes between the intake boots. There is one between cylinders 1 & 2, and also one between 3 &4. Never seen this before or seen any mention of it on here. Anybody have any ideas? Is it a California model? Canada?
  8. Trying to finish up my '86. Just pulled the forks to replace the fork seals. I noticed my steering had a very noticeable notch on center. Pulled the steering stem and the bearings and upper race look and feel good. The lower race has 2 chunks out of it? So, does anybody have a lower race? I am trying to avoid buying the whole set, since I passed my budget awhile ago. Thanks in advance, Kurt
  9. Amazing........Proves you don't needs words to tell a story......
  10. I just inquired about the discount earlier this week. Here is the response I received from Martin: Yes but its $79.99 now and $12.50 for UPS S&H paypal only sir to paypal@siriusconinc.com and refer to 4 x SD-1 Hope this helps.
  11. My hid kit did not have a relay or separate power wires and would blow the headlight fuse when the light would come on. I added two relays to power the light. I cut the high and low beam wires from the headlight switch. I ran from the battery to the relays and out to the high and low beam wires on the headlight socket. I used the wires from the switch to trigger the relays. And of course put a fuse between the battery and the relays. I know it is not the neatest solution, but it works and used what I had available at the time. I also wired up the switch/led cutout and it works perfectly. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
  12. I had a royal star master cylinder on the rear of my '83. The brakes were delinked so i dont know if it would work on the linked brakes or not. I did have to use spacers to get it centered over the pushrod on the pedal. Another issue I had was the fitting for the line. The 2nd gen master had a threaded fitting into it, not a banjo bolt. I had to get the 2nd gen line also, which way too long. I had it looped to take up the extra line. I also replaced the '83 resiviour with a plastic one off of another bike and moved it to the back of bike, getting it away from the engine heat. It all worked, but it was ugly.....
  13. my first Venture, an '83 was missing the left caliper and rotor when i bought it. the PO said he took them off because of a warped rotor....said it stopped fine with out it. I disagreed.
  14. i am checking with a friend who works at a hyundai dealer. i will let you know if he can find a source for parts:fingers crossed:
  15. I have had mine since I was about 28. I am 46 now. My original sleep study showed that I stopped breathing about 85 times an hour. I could sleep for 12 hours and was never rested. I woke up with massive throbbing headaches, couldnt remember getting ready for work, or the drive there or home. I would fall asleep at my workstation, and catch myself as I was falling. I am still at about 50 times an hour when i did a new study last year. I am on my 5th different machine in those years. The newest one has a humidifer I can adjust, the hose is heated for cold weather, and the pressure adjusts itself if needed. I use a mask that just covers my nose, but I keep a full face mask for when I am sick and cant breathe through my nose. It took awhile to get used to, but it is worth it. Especially in the last 2 or 3 years with my congestive heart failure, heart disease, A-fib, and diabates. I wish I didnt need it, but It is much better than waking up dead one morning. Oh, and my shoulder hurts less also.......I'm not getting punched anymore, getting told to stop snoring.......:rotf:
  16. I can hear the shield on the HID move when I apply power directly from the battery. If I switch the contacts I use sometimes I get a buzzing/hum sound. Sometimes I get nothing. I am thinking that I got a defective unit.
  17. this does not have that, but the seller has them, i think. was hoping to test it before sending it back. I would even make one if I knew where to run the power into the kit.
  18. I bought a HID bi-xenon kit on ebay, and it wont light. Contacted the seller, and he said to hook it directly to the battery and see if it works. If so, it needs a harness that goes to battery. The one in my kit is self contained. (see pics). I am thinking I need use one of the wires and the ground off the bikes 3 prong head light socket. That seems to be where it gets power. or will it go ? Anybody with more (any) knowledge of these systems have any thoughts? Thanks
  19. Look at what arrived in the mail today....... Very nice. Thanks for the effort to put this together. Now to finish the brakes, fix the rats nest of wiring for the extra marker lights, and install the leds in the lights (hope they fit).
  20. Thats kind of what i thought fromm reading on the subject. Never hurts to double check. I may be ok though. The Ebay seller may have another set he will send me. Will know in a couple hours
  21. Will it work? I may be able to get a set really cheap, but have to make an hour drive to get them. Don't really want to waste the gas. My stock calipers on the '86 need new seals, and besides the cost, one of the sets is out of stock until June/July with Yamaha. And they are not avail aftermarket either. I know R1/R6 will work, but I had to send back the set I bought, since they were worthless. They had a seal pulled out of the caliper body. Hoping I can get away cheap on this project, since cheap fits my budget
