1. what if you have to pee?
2. Carbon One, Rocks!
3. Here are some pictures of what I was after in the long run. Garage door opener (small button) Other switch for LED's under tank. and the (2) Blinking Red LED's by the Key Hole. Just plug them in and all works great.
4. Scott, I will shoot some pics this week for ya. Letting some silicon dry and added some plugs to all the stuff so I can remove my tank/ ignition cover easy. my garage door opener button, switch for LED's under tank and the two small LED's for what was talked about in this thread are all on that pod, and it can now be removed with ease . for removal of tank. I also have a quick disconnect for the LED's under the tank as well. Jeff
5. Yep, all what is stated above. and also lets say my bike is stuck on the side of the road. and I want my flashers to stay on for a long time. they will not , if my headlight is turned on as well. (drained battery) My success story is that I am done. the tiny blinking LED's are on each side of the key mounted on the top tank bezel. (blinking red) when my toggles are off on my running lights and headlight they are separated from each other. If I ever forget to flip my toggles on after working on somthing There is no way now that I will not know both headlight and running lights are OFF before I begin my riding ventures. I have noticed after all my wiring this last winter, it has been nice to be able to have my headlights and running light off while doing all my stuff. Note: BOTH Headlights and Running lights are off relays now keeping my wire harness from any harm in the future I hope. Thanks Everybody! Jeff
6. Ohhhhh the wait. I hated that part.
7. BOB, how is everything coming along?
8. Skin the proverbial cat. OH NO !!! I think ALL you guys are geniuses at this stuff, and there is a lot of great advise here. I know I sure learned a lot, Thanks ! Well , I have the two relays and the 12 volt SMALL 12 volt LED's. now, gunna go and see if this works. Dano, I see and know what your talking about with the lighted switch, my problem is that my toggles are already installed and I can not see them. the switch your talking about would have to be in another area and the size is one of the factors/ great idea though. that was my first idea as well.
9. I hope you recover fast my friend! and you better be at the meet&eat yeah and I bet you don't stay off the bike like your Supposed to! Jeff
10. I remember when I was younger and was living in a Condo in Calif, I had to chain this 4 wheeler ATV to the poll in the parking area., in my car stall . One Sat; I un-chained it to do maintenance on it. went into to house for lunch came back out and it was gone. it was only about 6 months old. never did find the darn thing. I even still had to keep making payments on it for another year after that. kinda felt violated. Not a good feeling at all. Jeff
11. Gary, No the headlights will not turn on with toggle switch, with the key off. Kinda liked the idea though if it was the other way (fake alarm system) But Now, thanks to you I know I have it all right now. Thanks, Jeff
12. Is the power feed to these relays #30 contact switched through the key ?? not sure now . how ever Larry told me to do it last time. Oh No! Here we go again...... If not like you say. I guess everyone will think i have an ALARM system on my Trike ! not a bad idea ... wonder if that will drain my battery ? But I do run (2) battery's on my bike.
13. Picking up my new (2) relays tomorrow. And then gunna run these 2 bad boys to my dash http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320468732150&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Now this has to catch my attention! (they will blink as well) So happy! And it was my bad... my relays now how (BOTH 87's on them with no 87A) just to clarify
14. Wal-Mart is selling it now for 7.99 I believe
15. Oh Man , I am so tired now.. so much SPST,SPDT ,NO & NC) and a NO or NC talk, I need a NAP now !! ....
16. I love this place , Just got off the phone with Gary. and he has me all set. Just like you describe Larry! FANTASTIC! THANKS THANKS THANKS !!! When I get the correct Relays It will do what I want it to do! Did I say THANKS! Was a real pleasure talking with you Gary! Man this guy knows his relays! Gary and Larry otta have a relay convention or something! The PDF File walk through was a good experience as well. Jeff
17. So right now I have the relay that has contact/power on both 87 and 87A Now what relay do I need to add a small bulb the go OFF when connected to 87A when I hit my toggle switch to turn my headlight on? Sound as if your saying that there is such a relay HELP *LOL*
18. Scott, Just checked. as I am in the garage with Internet access , walked over when you posted and checked. lights are on 87, now when I put a small bulb to 87A and the other end to ground. the small bulb will only turn on when I flip the switch for the headlight to turn on. When I flip the switch to off the small bulb will turn off. 87A is in the center of the relay if I look at the diagram and not in use at this time. think I have something hooked up wrong? maybe I better call you Jeff
19. OK, Maybe I will do this instead. IF I connect a small light to 87A And flip my switch ON the small light will come ON. maybe I will just find a tiny small light and when my lights are on the small light will come on I just wanted it to go OFF when main lights were ON. Will it work the way I want if I connect it to another terminal though.. checking now...
20. Yes That is what I have, before this post I tried 87a I will go back and try again.
21. Scott, I am using the relay that most of use are using here. So what # terminal would I cut into and place the led then? I guess I could just get out the multimeter and check all the Relay contacts
22. A 12 volt indicating switch that glows when it's off Well, my toggle is already in place , I want to run off of that switch already in place. but good idea though. Thanks Scott for the picture!
23. Gots Da LEDs working now with a detachable harness to be able to pull the tank ! I am running white LED's under the tank . makes chrome look more shinny! Also, it would work real well as a huge flashlight if something went wrong while being in the dark , to be able to look at the engine if there was ever a problem! Today , I should have the front blinkers done as well. SO MUCH WIRING!. Glad I bought a BIG Boy Crimping tool. I LOVE it. it has come in real handy!
24. Mike, I know there is a way to do this mod. but just have not figured it out yet. wonder if carbon-one would know MidlifeVenture. so your saying run another relay of the relay I have now? OR your saying run a different type of relay? in that circuit? OH MY!
25. I do not ever run with my lights off. it is just a safety factor I am looking for. re-read my post , I want a small light (led bulb) on my dash letting me know IF I ever forget to switch my main light toggle switch back on and then the small led would turn it-self off when the headlight was on. Jeff
