1. Thanks very much Bob, now that makes since why the fill hole is up so damn high then... 6 inches from the bottom. and the oil level is 2 inches from the hole so maybe adding the half Qt I have left would bring it to about an inch from the hole.... I do have an email sent to Jim G at Hannigans now. won't hear back from him until tomorrow sometime. telling him what is going on and what type oil the recommend for the diff. Thanks so much for your info about it being up-side down.. Jeff
2. I was or am in the same condition as you are and I did this 3 years ago. I will never turn back or will I ever regret doing the change. even the wife feels better on the trike now as well. she feels more secure I guess. You will LOVE it! Jeff
3. Thanks Much Earl. Yes my site glass last year showed at the (TOP) line so I am betting that is coming from the middle tubes. I have changed the oil since the Stator Mod and it is now half way.... these photos are from last years riding. The tube/vent coming out of the top of the diff is in front of the oil mess and that area is clean and clear. back of diff toward the front of the bike is covered in dry oil.. the rear of the diff is still very clean. Now for the kind of Diff. It is a Thunderbird rear end diff . Jeff
4. there also is a hose that come out of the top of the diff as well I guess for venting purpose.
5. looks like I am talking to myself today, OK from the bottom of the Diff it is 6 inches to the add-plug , bike is level now and I could not feel it with my finger still, I did stick a tie wrap into the hole and the oil is clean and smells good the tie wrap hit the oil at about 2 inches in. thanks for your help today Mike.
6. now the plug is pulled , but the rear is jacked up about 20% angle stick the old finger in there and I do not feel any oil.. maybe cuz it is at an angle? I do have some Amzoil Transaxle Lube SAE 75W-90 API GL-4 Laying around. wonder if I should just add some until it comes out? I will wait for the experts opinions first HELP !!
7. Found the plug
8. Ya know this could be coming from the drain tubes from the middle of the bike The seals look great no leaking. , just sent these pics to Jim.
9. Thats is another thing is that there is no bolt to open that I can find at this time. going to be sending Jim the photos and ask him I guess.
10. My Speedo is right on the money as well, but over time the cruise sensor will go out of wacky someday, they just use a tiny 10mm bolt for the adjustment. maybe yours will stay just fine over the years :-)
11. Leo, when my installer did my trike 3 years ago it was there first, when I got it back they had the gap at about .o30 like a spark plug and we couldn't figure out why my cruise control wouldn't work right. talked to Jim and he told me the gap numbers a long time ago. and they will move over time. so if your cruise stops working this is how you set it The outer rotating ring will also rust over time so I clean it at least once a year with a dremal wire wire wheel works very well. If your is wroking fine don't worry over it Jeff
12. Got it all the rust off the contact points and the Gap Adjusted to 4 .. Just waiting for the correct numbers ..added a light film of Di-Electric grease the the contact points this time around. will see how that works.
13. Anybody , look at these pics and tell me if this is normal the oil build up under the diff please. Seems to me I use to see this on my old 59 Chevy LOL But is it normal after 3 years on the Trike? The second pic is running my finger nail on it to show how much. Jeff
14. If I remember right the setting is .003 to .007 Correct? I have cleaned mine up and noticed that the gap was getting larger. thinking I will try .004 I have lost my info in this. Thanks for any help. Jeff
