I used Night Shades tail light tint by VHT.
Here is a decription of the process.
To prep the windshield i washed it and wet sanded it with 800 grit sandpaper, then finished with 1500 grit. I then decided to buff it out with rubbing compound to make it scratch free and clear.
I wanted something that would just cover the gauges so i mounted the spare shield and used a dry erase marker (marked on front and back)just to get an idea. I then removed the shield and brought it inside to make my final outline. I used the blue painters tape to tape of the area to be cut. I used my variable speed jig saw on slow speed to make the cut then followed with a file. I filed along the shield (not across) to make a nice even line. I followed by sanding the cut edge with 400 and 800 grit paper, which made it nice and smooth.
I cleaned the the shield with some acetone to prepare for paint. I used VHT Night Shades black taillight paint. After 3 coats of VHT and 3 coates of clear coat my job was finished.
