will there ever be a 3rd generation Venture?
rickardracing replied to Who Dey's topic in Watering Hole
This discussion again huh? All I can say is "IF" they did make it look like a Victory Vision, then they ruined it. I rode the Indian a few weeks ago. No trunk, pegs for the passenger, no heel shifter and pretty warm in the crotch area. If you plan on having any kids, your not going to like the heat warming up the goods on a hot day. Crappy color choice. It IS a nice riding bike (Indian), but not 27k nice. I would do an Ultra Classic before the Indian. -
My sentiments exactly. I do not feel bad for wheel chair willy. Got what deserved and I cannot say on this forum what I would like to see happen to the......individual.....who smashed out the window and assaulted the guy in the suv.
-
What.....can't rap from a wheelchair? I hope a team of lawyers takes the suv drivers case probono and shuts the whole group down. I hope that guy collects big time off of the bikers insurance and I hope their paychecks get garnished for life.
-
My bad, I thought someone was killed in the incident. Actions of these tools is what makes us all look bad in the general publics eye. Why were they all over the road? Why were they not in ONE LANE running staggered? Too bad the guy in the suv did not have a gun and plugged that sob in the chest that busted out his window and assaulted him. It would have been justified. I would like to see ALL of these clowns loose their licenses and major fines levied. Just my .02

Everyone is at fault here. The a-holes on the bikes were in the wrong and the suv was in the wrong. Bottom line, suv ran over and killed someone, they deserve to be put away. Everyone of the "bikers" should loose their license. Suv could have and should have called the state police. They would not have been hard to find.

Notify your credit or debit card company of your plans and what states your going to go through and what days. They will monitor the card but not cut it off. Keep all your gas receipts, print off your route and send it in. Keep the number of riders to a minimum. Too many and your gas stops go from 10 minutes to a half an hour real quick. Do not make it into a bigger deal than what it needs to be. I have done both the 1000 in 24 and the 1500 in 36.

Freebird and myself just did the 1500 in 36. My total mileage ended up being 1742 in 35 hours 45 minutes.

I will say one thing, I just did the Bun Burner 1500 with Don last weekend. He rode the Harley. He never had one issue with the bike. Good thing, I only had metric tools in my saddle bag!! But the man has a nice ride.

I did the demo at Dick Scott Classic Cycles today in Livonia. Took out the Indian Chieftain. This is my opinion of the bike. Nice. My likes are as follows. Has ALOT of get up and go. 111 cubic inches of it. Hardly any vibration. The power adjustable windshield I would definately use. I like the dash. Nice speedo and tach combo. Display tells you what radio station your on, what gear your in, air temp and battery voltage. Take that Yamaha!! Saddle bags seemed to be pretty ridgid. Loved the tunes coming from the pipes. Now for my dislikes. NO TOUR PACK!! I need a trunk, gotta have it. No heel shifter. I like the heel/toe shifter and would like to see t on the bike. No passenger floor boards. Pegs for the pillion, and they looked to be too high. A bit too much heat on the boys down below. The bike I rode had less than 1500 miles on it and the chrome on the right pipe at the head had some pitting and starting of peeling. Could be a quality problem, could just be that one bad pipe. Time will tell. Seat felt nice, not as nice as my pillow top, but ok. Needs more color options. This machine would look sooooo nice in two tone paint. As far as I could tell, no intercom system. I built one online and it priced out at 26k. For that kind of money, I want a complete tour pack and more colors to choose from. Not nice enough for me to pull the trigger and sign my name for the payments, but it is a very nice machine.

Do not take offense that we never called. By the time we rolled into Smyrna it was after 10pm. I had been on the bike since 3am and Don had been on his since 6:30. At that time of night all we wanted was a few hours of sleep. When trying to do a timed/distance event, there is no time for socializing. We got our rooms and in bed by 11pm and up and on the road 4 hours later at 3am.

I just went and checked. 1742 miles.
-
The weather was nice. I did freeze my butt off on the way to Don's Saturday morning. I got home at 2:45, but I ended the ride just south of Ann Arbor. I have not checked the mileage, but I think mine is right around the 1750 mark. I was good riding with you Don. Maybe next year coast to coast......................... Randy

Larry, you might have to take it down to the Dragon.............

Price is all mind over matter...............if you don't mind.....it don't matter.

Ahhhh......hog heaven........must be buying a Harley...........

That's what I think Eddie was trying to say. Flying fool said it waas a story about Harley's. It's not. I understood what Eddie meant.

I stayed at a Knights Inn in Cleveland once. Pulled the sheets down to find the bed full of pubes.
-
DID THIS ONCE!!! Don't intend on doing it again. I was about a mile from the station. Just barely made it there.

:rotf:I agree with Brian. Do yourself a favor. If you set in pulling a trailer, either get the Harbor Freight with a cargo cargo carrier or one that is specifically built to be towed behind a motorcycle. Just because it hooks up and has wheels, does not make it safe to pull behind a two wheeler. I also agree with Larry, I would only consider this unit with a trike.
-
Yes, from what I understand. If you run the tank dry on reserve and then fill up while still on reserve, you will be S.O.L. when/if you run out. Personally, I would rather not find out. When the few times I did have to hit the reserve, I made sure I switched it back to "on" before I filled the tank.
-
Have you ever pulled a loaded down trailer before? You will know it going into curves and stopping. Too heavy and too fast into a curve and it will just push the back end of the bike out from under you. If you go with this set up..............BE CAREFUL!!!
-
I would not pull that behind the bike. Way too big in my opinion.

If the guy is not the original owner, which it sounds like, the speedo was replaced with another unit. Probably from Pinwall or some place that sells used parts. It should also say Midnight Venture on the saddle bag hinges. OR the bike had been repainted grey. Midnights are called Midnights because they are black. They also have chrome fork tube covers. My guess is the guy has no clue as to what he has. If the speedo has been replaced, it's not shwing the true milage either.

Harbor Freight lift table on sale for $299
rickardracing replied to Cheesehead in flatland's topic in Watering Hole
This is the lift I have. Works pretty good, but I am still cosidering the table lift also. -
I can't do easy days. It goes against my grain to sit in a motel at 5 or 6 in the afternoon when I could be tooling down the road. If it's light out, I would be ridin'.
