  1. Who's going to the show? Jan 3-5. Mary and I are going Saturday the 4th after she gets out of work. Probably be there around 4pm, walk through the whole thing then go to dinner. Anyone going at that time?
  2. You are a good man!
  3. Well, your not trying to make a living and support a family or employees with your product. Super Braces probably are. I paint on the side for extra cash. I do it as a hobby also, but I want compensated for my time. I don't mind helping someone out every once in awhile by throwing out a bone, but you would not believe how many people want a paint job for the cost of supplies and expect it to be a 99 point show finish. I take pride in my work and try to make sure it's as awesome as possible, but it also takes the fun out of it too. If a company is still making parts for an old bike and offing a discount, be happy with it.
  4. Oh geez, here we go again.
  5. I have the same problem AT OUR LOCAL HARDWARE !!! They hire high school kids that do not know their a$$ from a hole in the ground for cheap labor, then charge a ridiculous price for their goods. The ONLY time I go there is if I need a bolt for something I am working on. Otherwise I stop off at Home Depot Or Lowes on my way home from work. I actually would love to see this hardware go out of business.
  6. Oooooh, gonna open that can of worms again!
  7. My former employer backed into mine last year. He did not have the b@ll$ to admit it. Found my fender paint under his rear bumper.
  8. Like Ragtop, I have the Samson 29" turn-outs. A bit loud. I found baffles that will fit in at the front, going to pick those up with some wrap and have them tack welded in. Should quite them down to my liking. But you won't get a Harley sound out of the v4.
  9. That is one ugly useless POS!
  10. I am HOPING to go in in January for knee surgery. Cannot ride anymore until it gets fixed. Can't hold the bike up safely. Keep your chin up Dan, everything will work out and everyone will be healthy for the new year.
  11. I hope your not paying that much on one car. If so, you need to change insurance companies. 1st thing I would have done is got a copy of the police report. 2nd, I would have lawyered up. You know...the Bernstein Advantage. YOU, should have contacted both your medical and car insurance companies to co-ordinate payment. Who pays for what and so on. Some pro-active work on your end would have saved you a ton of head-ache. Sorry, it's just the way it works. I would have filed a law suit against the faulty driver and still would if you have not yet. I drive I-696 from Hamburg/Brighton (I-96) to Roseville for work. I know what it's like on that road. Driver IQ drops 60 points east of Farmington.
  12. Good luck buddy, hope everything works out for you.
  13. You and me both brother!
  14. Why negative comments? What one person thinks looks stupid, another may think is art. We are all different, with different likes. I could say a whole lot about some of the bikes and trailers I have seen on this forum. But again, different strokes. I you want ape hangers, put them on. Don't worry about what others may think.
  15. I am an old school toolmaker. I do all of mine on a bench/pedastal grinder.
  16. Well if the quality of those bikes is anything like the Indian bulit plastic injections molds I have had to service over the years, I would not even consider one. I have seen some janky quality on those toolss, almost laughable. I wonder if the true blue die hard Harley riders will snub the riders of those bikes like they do the metrics.
  17. Let me know in the spring. I can cut you a decent price.
  18. PM me and tell me what's going on, maybe I can help. Again, I am not a painter by trade, just a Backyard Barney, but I can maybe make some suggestions. Believe me, my first few paint jobs were pretty bad.
  19. Fish eye happens as soon as the paint hits the body. Orange peel does too. Those will not happen after the paint is dry. The owner of the shop needs to cut his painter loose and get a new one. Freebird, we can talk in the spring about the trailer. My garage is not heated and it's too cold out now, but we will be able to work something out.
  20. Thank you all for the kind words. I can see alot of fish eyes and orange peel in that paint. There really is no reason for it. If you see fish eyes, there IS an additive you can add. I have never had an issue with that before. When I painted Joe's trunk........it was way too humid. I had alot of problems with moisture getting into the clear. You don't see when you spray, but when it dries.......YIKES. I had separators at the tank and the gun. But in the end, I got it right. Orange peel..............absolutley no excuse. If your base coating (color) then clear coating, wet sand the clear then rub out. I always put atleast 6 good coats of clear on. When dry, I start with 1000 grit, when I see the roughness almost gone, I switch to 1200 grit, then when it is completely smooth, I finish with 1500 grit. Then wheel it out with Mequire's Diamond Cut 2.0 and a cotton wheel. Is it alot of work? You better believe it. But when you can take a picture like I did of the side of the blue car and you can see the grit of the asphalt of the driveway reflecting in the paint, THAT my friends is a smooth paint job. Prep is 90% of a paint job. Paint WILL NOT hide crappy prep. Then to just get lazy on finish...........why bother to even start. I take pride in my paint. It ain't leaving my garage until-----I AM SATISFIED. That's just how I roll.
  21. That's a shame. I am not a pro, but here are some of my "garage" paint jobs. If you want it redone in the spring, let me know. The red bike is my wifes. I did the bags and ghost flames. The blue Tour Delue is Joe's (Star4772), I did the trunk. The Cinnamin fairing is for a Stratoliner. The blue, WRX is my sons. I did the right rear quarter, right rear door, right front door, A-pillar and above the doors. The rear door was rippled like crazy. It's straight as an arrow now. Let me know.
  22. Watch wood piles, scorpions love those. When I worked in Tempe in 2009, a buddy had an upsairs apartment. Found a white scorpion on the kitchen floor!!
  23. I agree. Might as well slap a Victory badge one it.
  24. I checked out your pics. Look at your lower frame where the bar bent it and then look at the frame frome vintageGW's pics. His frame is "L" shaped at the top and yours is not. I do not think this was the cause, yours had a pretty week bar, but I did notice the differance. I will be watching this thread closely. I was planning on buying the HF lift. I may have to reconsider.
  25. When I built one on-line with all the do dads on it I would want......it came out to 27k. $22,990 is pretty much base price.
