  4. Some things to look for. No power and O2 sensor lean. Fuel filter or pump, leak in intake, low fuel pressure, faulty O2 sensor No power and O2 sensor rich plugged exhaust, faulty fuel pressure regulator, faulty sensors, engine or ignition. Egr plugged or fault will usually result in spark knock. But other things can also cause this symptom. Knowing the codes can help. Mike NOTE: Do not use fuel injector cleaner in a Nissan. It can disolve the internal insulation on the injector windings. I have seen this more than a few times.
  5. Sorry to hear of your problems Brian. Think of the air flow through the engine. Intake and exhaust. Also any shop should be able to check the fuel pressure to the injectors and rule out pump or filter. For diagnosis you can unplug the maf. If that is the problem the PCM will set a code and substitute values for this sensor. The car will then run much better. If it is not the problem it won't help. As mentioned earlier look for torn boots or blockage etc. The default for your fuel injection is to run rich when it sees a problem. That is very hard on the catalytic converters. Do not run these cars very long with codes showing. Converters can overheat and become plugged quite quickly. I have seen new cats become plugged in as little as six blocks due to bad spark plugs. Think cause and effect. If there is any fault after a while the rich running car may set an O2 sensor rich code. This does not mean the O2 sensor is bad. Only that the exhaust is very rich. Beyond the ability of the PCM to compensate. A bad O2 sensor will usually cycle slow or show lean. The symptoms you are describing usually go along with a plugged fuel filter (easily checked). Or a plugged exhaust. Also easily checked with the proper tools. If it is the cat then you must find the cause. Running rich or dumping fuel, misfire. Mike
  6. Could be the greatest car in the world but that is a lot of miles on that old Jeep. The 4.0 liter in-line six is ok but no power house. Oil leaks, drive belt pulleys, engine wear, water leaks and electronics have all had issues in the past. You would also need to be concerned with the rest of the drive train. And of course the chassis should be looked at. A thorough inspection would be in order before purchasing. Mike
  7. Ship it to yourself. This is what I got when I googled the question. You MAY legally ship a firearm to YOURSELF in the US. Rifles and shotguns (unloaded) may be sent through the US Mail. Handguns must be shipped by a common carrier, such as UPS or FedEx unless you are licensed as a firearms dealer or manufacturer (they can use US mail). If you are transferring OWNERSHIP of a firearm across a state line, THEN a Federal Firearms License holder is required. Shipment outside of the US is another legal matter entirely. you MUST declare a firearm to the shipper, whether Post Office or Common Carrier. NOTE- writer is a FFL holder. Mike
  8. The v-max rear end will restore some of that missing low end torque. Depending on your wrist reflex it may do so without any loss of fuel mileage. But one never knows for sure until you try it. Mike

  12. Strange. My D3K7-5 has a small red pad with six dip switches next to the two LEDs. It also has a white two inch square chart listing the dip switch settings on the other side of the LEDs. Perhaps you need to call Dynatech to find out what you have. Mike [ATTACH]78948[/ATTACH]
  13. Venturous is correct. And so is Flyinfool. The speedo reading is based on the revolutions of the rear wheel. All the sensor does is make pulses as the pinion, ring gear and wheel turn. For the Speedometer to maintain the same reading it would need to see the same number pulses for each revolution of the rear wheel. So long as the ring gear has the same number of teeth for each gear set (33) the speedo will see the same number of pulses for each revolution of the rear wheel and the speedo will remain unchanged.   15. Sorry to say on this issue I am not wrong. The sensor counts pulses caused by the the pinion teeth passing beneath it. The type of sensor is a Hall Effect. It creates one digital duty cycle pulse each time a pinion tooth passes. The output is a modified square wave which is read by the speedo unit. It takes 33 pinion teeth for the ring gear to make one revolution. The wheel is connected to the ring gear therefore it takes 33 pinion teeth to drive the wheel one revolution. So there are 33 sensor pulses per wheel revolution. It does not matter how many teeth the pinion has so long as the ring gear has 33 teeth there will be 33 pulses per wheel revolution. The sensor does not count revolutions. It only counts pulses. The speedo converts this to mph based on the calculated wheel diameter, the calculated number of pulses per revolution and the number of revolutions per minute. The formula for this is built into the speedo. Mike
  16. So true. But it still takes 33 pinion teeth to make the ring gear go around one full revolution. Thus 33 pulses to the speed sensor per wheel revolution for either gear set. Mike
  17. Try again. You've almost got it. It takes 33 teeth for the ring gear to make one revolution. And that is with either gear set. Mike

  21. I have the Rivco center stand on my bike. It is a great acquisition. It is nice to be able to stand the bike up where ever you are without a jack. It makes it handy for oil changes or checks, flat repairs etc. On trips when staying at a motel I will usually stand the bike on the Rivco and use the bike cover overnight. That said having the center stand on the bike does make using a jack harder as it gets in the way. So if you are making an adapter for your jack keep the center stand in mind. Mike
  22. The engine guards are very easy to bend. One or the other almost always gets bent no matter how softly you drop the bike. I usually just sit in the seat and push it back into place with my foot. You just have to be careful not to break the lower fairing mounts when doing this. Mike
  23. As a side note. If you have the IC vol set up so you can hear the intercom you may also notice an increase in road noise. Since the IC is 'always on' the mic's can pick up and amplify all sorts of extraneous noises. Just something for you to be aware of. Mike
