  1. Frogg Toggs here. Have used them for years. Sometimes a little floppy but waterproof. Always seems every time I go to put on when it starts to rain and it usually stops or slows enough that they aren't needed and then it is sweat time as they don't seem to breath as well behind fairing when not raining. Just with anything it usually ends up personal preference.
  2. Back in my 20's I used to be only one with a vehicle and I got volunteered to be designated driver everywhere and one day we tried to go to Toronto and made it halfway there and I dosed off making us drive along the shoulder for 4 miles before I woke and decided to stop in Kitchener Ontario. A couple in the car wanted to wake me but someone stopped them and everything turned out fine and the name stuck. Phantom Wife (Beverly) got here name from my fellow Ontario friends here because whenever I was supposed to bring her to any event she had an excuse and after the first couple years nobody believed I was married or that she even existed at all.I did show up with her one day but they still didn't believe she was my wife(some guesses were my neighbor or I rented here). But Marcarl showed up at my house with Wizzard765 one day they were ridding around and met her here. Marcarl still joked about it though. So the name stuck so I got Jaybird to pinstripe it on the trunk so all could see.
  3. I switched from TD Insurance this year because they jacked my rate up by OVER $400 to almost $1700 so switched to my car insurance and now pay $1200 with FULL coverage. No accidents in last 9 years. Some wouldn't insure unless I switched all my insurance---- some wouldn't because of what bike cost 4 years ago?????????????????? Some said if I had a smaller engine it would be cheaper---daaaaa it's a 900lb Touring bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Unfortunately I will NOT be going to Maintenance Day this year. As I mentioned Phantom Wife sent away our passports to renew them and just got a call that there was a problem with the form she filled out. I told her we should have gone to London instead.!!!!
  5. Phantom & myself send our condolences to the both of you and your family!
  6. Not sure if I was clear on price. That was 2 tires +++++install
  7. I think it cost me around $750 two tires installed last year.
  8. Alright 8-tracks ----- Now I would be able to keep and listen to my 400 tapes on the road and not just at home. Told Phantom Wife I shouldn't get rid of them and but a lot more.
  9. I looked at one in 2012 but hadn't tried one out and thought it might be bad for my back and shoulders with the forward lean. Was also looking at 2012 Harley Road Glide ($35,000) so ended up buying Royal Star Venture which I have ridden. My decision and have no regrets. Did try out the same bike as your friend when I took bike in for service and was glad I didn't buy one as it was bad on my shoulders and back. That is my opinion but may be different for you. Nothing wrong with that bike and I have thought about it some times but that was more when I was a bit younger. Good luck!! Nice looking bike tho!!
  10. Thanks Don BUT they weren't any better.
  11. Called TD Insurance(Primmum) last week to see if insurance will be going down any this year as it has been 7 years since my accident with my 87 Venture and they said I would have to wait till the renewal came out. WWEELLLL just got my renewal AND it went UP by $400!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't had any more accidents no speeding tickets have gotten OLDER tho! Thought that government had done something to lower rates BUT I guess NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to oldest boys insurance co to get 3 quotes and they were $1400 $2500 $3800 Kept mentioning sport bike comparisons by agent and I kept telling her it is a TOURING bike!!!! Still have to call back TD to get an(unsatisfactory and unfair comparison of rate theory) explanation of why the increase. Seems like a very high percentage for just a year. Anyone have any Insurance agency's I could try>
  12. Sorry to here about your families loss!!!!!!!!! Hope everything works out!!
  13. Congrats from Phantom Wife & I !!!!!
  14. As Carl said I did go to Dover on Fri. Was pretty slow when I got there--seemed like around 40 to 50 bikes then as morning went on more and more started to show up.Got mine and Phantom's t-shirts - walked around to the FEW vendors that showed up. There wasn't that many custom bikes out so didn't take more than a few pictures. Road by Callahans was still littered with sand that was washed ashore the day before. Got pretty bored and wind was pretty strong so headed out along the lake shore road towards Port Rowan and hit hail for a couple klm's then headed north towards Delhi to get a new hat but they were too small. Decided to visit Carl & Marca so headed to Brantford. Hit hail again just past Scotland Ont. which lasted about 2 to 3 klm's. Visited and had a coffee then headed back home as I had to go to work FRI. night for over-time.
  15. sorry to hear about batteries for your bikes! I am still driving every day to work and will continue until we start getting salt on the roads. Will be taking bike in for 55,000klm servicing on Friday.
