  1. That is revving the engine I have no way to tell the exact RPM but I'm cranking the throttle pretty good and I'm still sub 13 volts
  2. I Have 32,000 miles on my bike. So I went out and bought a new multi meter the one I had was old and I wasn't sure if it was working right so the new one show both the stator and the regulator as good but I am still getting less than 13volts with the bike running so I'm going to go through all the connections again and reclean them and see if that doesn't fix things.
  3. so has anybody ever used these https://www.amazon.com/Caltric-REGULATOR-MIDNIGHT-VENTURE-2004-2007/dp/B00Q2Z3IR4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1465863549&sr=8-2&keywords=stator+2007+yamaha+venture The price seems to good to be true
  4. So I determinded that my stator and regulator are bad so does anybody have a recommendation where to get new ones. It seems to me that I saw on this forum at one time that there is a higher output stator out there. also I would assume that I need the gasket for the cover where the stator goes. This seems like it would not be a very didicult repair ? Does anybody have any tips for doing this Thanks Jeff
  5. thanks for the help I'm going to start trouble shooting right now
  6. I did put the volt meter on it and engine not running its at 12 volts. With the engine running at roughly 2000rpm it drops to 10 volts so whats the next step? Is the stator hard to change myself is there a step by strep somewhere on the forum on how to do it.
  7. Battery was 9 years old. But an old battery wouldn't cause the bike to have a lose of power would it?
  8. I'm riding my 2007 venture yesterday and it started running weird like all the cylinders weren't firing(lose of power ). I made it about 2 blocks got to a stop light and it died, tried to restart and it would crank about a half a turn and nothing. So I put in a new battery and it fired right up. But I'm feeling like a bad battery won't make it miss like it was and have the lose of power that occurred. where do I go from here could a bad battery cause it to run like it was. Thanks
  9. I did Don and they were extremely helpful THANKS to all who take the time to write those how to post!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Just wanted to share a few thoughts from some one who tackled replacing these items for the first time. My bike an 07 midnight venture with just over 30,000 miles was running very rough at low speeds and idle and backfiring a lot so I read as much as I could on this site and got my parts and got started first thing I did was replace air filters, I put in new K&N filters. Then I removed the tank to replace the plugs I put in Iridium's and then the fuel here I used a wix and it fit perfectly where the old one was. The air filters and the plugs I thought were easy jobs I did take off the lowers and remove the tank I'm not sure why anybody would try to do these two things without removing them it was super easy. I actually thought the fuel filter was the most difficult taking out the front cover was not an easy task and then getting the filter out, well that thing is crammed in there pretty tight but in the end I got it out and put the new one in. I did this all in one session and it took me just under 3 hours. So if you are contemplating doing these projects yourself go for it, I found it fun and it was nice learning a little bit about my ride. My bike is purring like a kitten now, no more backfiring and running great at lower speeds and the idle is very consistent now. I'm almost wishing I would have test rode my bike in between replacing each component just to see what was causing the problem. Next thing to do is sync the carbs I ordered a carbtune last week so once that gets here that's next. If anybody needs to sync carbs feel free to get ahold of me I would be happy to let you use it. Jeff
  11. It seems like it would be a fun and interesting project but I did find a local shop that would do it for about $350 which seemed very reasonable.
  12. It's time for a valve adjustment on 07 Venture with 30,000 miles on it. I am considering doing this myself but was wondering if there are any Wisconsin riders out there that have done it before that would be interested in giving me a hand. Also anybody close (I'm in Appleton) that has a shim kit and or shim tool that I could borrow? Thanks Jeff
  13. I've been thinking about taking this course threw ABATE has anybody taken it? I'm sure its worth it just looking for other peoples experiences or if by chance if anybody else from wisconsin is taking the one at Fort McCoy either 7-9 or 7-16 Jeff

  15. Thanks for hosting scooter Bob I am planning on being there. I've tried to get there the last 2 years but the times just didn't work, but I have this day on my calender already. So how does this work do we just bring along the parts that we think we'll need? Should i let you know what I'm hoping to do to my 2nd Gen? I don't think it needs much I only have about 15000 miles on it, what do you all recommend, any advice would be appreciated Thanks Jeff
  16. I did mine for the first time this last summer for the same reason(new tires) I was concerned when I started but just follows the tech article that I found on this website and it could not have gone smoother. Jeff
  17. Just wondering if you've tried this yet I'm interested so just curiuos how it worked. Also I've e-mailed Ponch to see if he would be interested modifying his gauge plates to accept the gear indicator Would others be interested in this as it might be easier to get him to do this if there was enough interest Jeff
  18. Just wanted to thank everybody who chimed in with advise on this and a special thanks to Goose who I called last night with a few questions and he was nice enough to help me out. If it weren't for this site I don't know if I would even try to do this myself. Thanks again jeff
  19. When I put the front tire back on should I grease the axle
  20. well I have the wheels off going in tomprrpw fro the new rubber
  21. Is there any place in the service manual that gives step by step instructions? If there is I can't find it.
  22. The dealers around here charge 110 on the bike and no charge off the bike as long as I buy tires from them. I wanted to learn how to do this and saving 110 bucks is a plus right now. I bought Avon Venoms front and back stock size for $314.00
  23. Well I have new tires coming tomorrow and I have to take off my tires and take them to the dealer for mounting and balancing I found the tech article by frebird on rear tire removal is there one for the front tire? Are there any others for reference and what other things should I be doing with the tires off besides greasing the rear splines Jeff
  24. Thanks Steve I actually have downloaded the manual and I bought the carbon lift adapter with legs last year so I'm all set there. I just get a little nervous working on things like the wheels becauce well you know there pretty important to have as your going dpwn the highway lol Jeff
