anyone else want to make a run to the Fatz restaurant in Blairsville this year? https://fatz.com/locations/blairsville-ga/
  3. It looks like they have a $2500 rebate on offer for the 2018 models. plus whatever you can get off the list price from the dealer. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/transcontinental-touring
  4. https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-hampshire-highway-collision-7-motorcyclists-dead-3-injured Ride careful. The article says they may be a group of Marine Vets in a club
  5. I was tempted by the boxes of factory 7mm STW ammo. All the ammo I have for that gun is handloads using reformed cases. But, I'll pass.
  6. I bought a NOS 2014 VN900 Classic last summer when I wasn't riding much due to problems handling the weight of my RSTD. I love the VN900, but haven't done any trips over 150 miles. But its very comfortable for 2-3 hour rides. I suspect I could go cross country on it if I wanted to. I'll likely sell my RSTD as its not being ridden.

    Broke down

I seem to recall someone in an old post just by-passed the fuel pump with hose and as long as he kept the tank over half full, he was able to ride.
  8. We are having the Vogel rally this year. Its alternately called The Tail of the Dragon rally as its held at Vogel State Park in Georgia which is on US 129 which becomes known as the Dragon just to the north where it crosses from North Carolina into Tennessee. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?139469-Vogel-2019 14-18 August

  11. Just saying HEY ! Have LOTS of fun on your cruises & trip. And, will note that the Georgia Vogel rally is coming up if you're nearby.
  12. Happy retirement ! You'll be missed here.
  13. Nice video makes me want to take a long ride there. If I did I'd want to ride at least 2 or 3 weeks and take my time to be a tourist. I expect there are bikes for hire one could get. Could ask Annie and Quickstep to show us some good roads.
  14. Be strong Yooper. You can beat it again.
  15. wonky things happen sometimes as we age, this sounds like one of those things. good luck !
  16. I have a Dillon 650 progressive press that I use for large batches of pistol ammo and rifle ammo for shooting NRA service rifle matches. I also have a single stage RCBS press which I use for small batches of ammo, large rifle rounds> .308, or for anything that I want to take extra care to do. I also have a Lee hand press and numerous Lee Loaders. I have a case trimmer, and two case tumblers for polishing. The suggestion of an RCBS kit is a good suggestion.
  17. I pray for his family. The news report says a car driver made a left turn and didn't see the MC because he was doing a wheelie and his light was pointed up and not visible. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/florida-motorcyclist-killed-after-popping-a-wheelie
  18. I'm really liking the 900cc Vulcan v-twin I bought last year. But looking back, historically, I'd have to choose the '68 Triumph 650cc Trophy that I bought while in college after getting out of the Army. long story. This was the second Triumph I owned having had a very-used 500cc scrambler for a short while that was a maintenance headache. The 650 Trophy needed a little work to get it going, but I had rebuilt the 500cc twice in the year I had it, so I had most of the Whitworth tools and was familiar with the engines which were the same except for the bore (heads and cylinder jugs). That 650 Trophy had belonged to a Marine who had been killed in Vietnam. It had sat for a couple of years and was being sold by a friend of his for the Marine's mother. So that bike always had a special meaning for me. I rode it around Missouri, back and forth to Texas, and then to Georgia while I was there (now here) for Army National Guard training. Finally trailering it up to Maryland where I had taken a new job. It was then ridden all over the east coast until it was damaged in a parking lot accident (outside my apartment one night while parked). It never ran right after that. I always meant to take the time to restore it, but didn't. After my move to Georgia, where I live now, I advertised it for sale along with a Triumph 650 Bonneville on a company computer bulletin board, and they were bought (for him and his son) by a fellow in Sweden who did a perfect restoration. He sent me the pictures of the restored bikes about 2 years later.

I don't see 2019 Vogel on the VR Calendar yet, nor a thread in the Rallies forum.
