  1. I'm 99% sure they wont without a bit of modification, the calipers between the MKI and MKII are totally different, so the dimensions of the caliper cut out is different as well.
  2. I knew it was you before anyone said anything You had a good reason for the leaking
  3. Jeff is very cool, and a bit crazy at times. Good to see him "Letting his hair down" and having fun
  4. Good post Barry, I am glad that you were able to attend as I had been following your earlier postings of wanting to go. You have hit upon what is best about this site, it's not the bikes, it's not the technical info, it's the people. I have gone to Vogel 3 times, and loved every one of them. You have met some of the very best people this site has. It's easy to be infected by these folks as they are mold breakers, they are all very unique and have huge hearts. Some of them are VERY good friends of mine, and I would do anything for if they needed me too. I am very happy that you were able to see what this place is REALLY about....the people Good on all you folks that always come through and make this happen. Lewis, Charlene, Jamie, Paula, Dana, Missy and countless others that step up and grab the bull by the horns. Y'all are my heroes and I look up to every one of you
  5. The biggest thing your going to run into Herb is broken tabs and mounts. I have had several of the 1st gens naked right down to the frames. I would probably invest in some Plastex before I would even start the disassembly. If your not absolutely positive on your ability to remember what went where, take lots of pics. If you dont have SS brake lines, I would highly recommend investing in a set for the bike you plan to keep. The '92 electronically has a few changes, the ignition system is a single pickup coil instead of the dual that even your '89 motor has. They call the ignition a DTI instead of a TCI on the '92 as there were some changes that I'm not bright enough to explain right now. If you run into any issues you have my number, I'll be happy to help you my friend.
  6. Great pics! I even saw a Viking in there
  7. All the input isn't a bad thing here, but lets be honest anything south of the northern border of Kentucky IS going to be hot June thru September. If thats going to keep folks away, then thats what it is. Northern areas are prone to summer time showers, so the likely hood of getting wet is better. There are folks that wont go East or West of the Mississippi, we are not going to please everyone, nor can we even try for that, it's not possible. The Hub was done in Arkansas in August, definitely hot, but it was a great rally. This has always been about someone stepping up and saying "I'll do this" and thats usually where they live at or around there. It seems that with the international rally's we are now looking for 1 centralized location that will fit all our needs, which is nice, but comes at a price. I am under the thought that if we are wanting this, it's going to take folks away from wanting to volunteer to host one of the rally's. I have done this, and helped with a couple others. It's a labor of love, it might be pessimistic of me to think this, but if it becomes too complicated, folks aren't going to do it....
  8. Thats the truth right there, mirror mirror on the wall say I am quite appealing
  9. Evan, I have an '85 parts bike with the class lines as well. I'll dig through my goodies and see what I can come up with, but I think we have you both covered.
  10. You can reach through the right side blinker hole to get to it if memory serves me correctly. Then just plug the spare in and see if it works to avoid pulling the upper fairing off...
  11. I can confirm that it absolutely wasn't me
  12. I can positively say that I will not be in Indiana today Although I would like to be as I could go see Dano and Leadwolf 56
  13. The reserve lighting unit would be a strong culprit, swap it out and see what happens. It sounds like you have done all the other troubleshooting pretty well.
  14. I might have what your looking for, I removed the CLASS from the '83 I have and I'm pretty sure I have all the lines.
  15. Yours is a 1st gen and considered a MKII due to it's being the 1300cc. The '83 to '85 are considered a MKI due to them being the 1200cc size. You can install the R1 calipers on the MKII's as they will bolt right on the forks. The MKI's forks are different and they will not work on them.
  16. Great pics Patti! Turnout may have been a bit lower than in past years, but I like those a bit better as there is more time to visit with folks as there aren't so many folks that you feel you need to talk to. BTW why was Skid being scolded by Annie in the one pic lmao
  17. If you can't get it to sync and you want a different set of intake manifolds I have an '85 parts bike with a set on them.
  18. I did that on the '86 that I just got back on the road. I drilled it larger by probably about half of it's original diameter. Make sure also that you put the ring in the side cover correctly, so that the inner lip is facing inward towards the motor and not outward towards the cover. Another thing I am doing too is I went to Mobil 1 with this oil change. I want to keep it as cool in there as I can and the synthetics tend to run cooler. I am also going to do it to the '83 I have here today as they one has the stock stator in it.
  19. Happy Anniversary!!!!
  20. The early Ventures, '83 and '84's had a solid bolt that held the flywheel/magnet on the crank. Yamaha devised a kit that had a retaining bolt with a hole in the center of it so it could sling oil over the stator thus keeping it cooler. If I'm not mistaken '85 and up had this stock on the bike, it was just the early ones that had the issues. I had pics of the kit and instructions, but lost it in my last reload of my computer. It's on the site, go to the search bar up top and type in stator cooling kit and it should bring them up.
  21. Yep... I have a stator out of an '85 charging my '86 as we speak until I can get a new one from Buckeye.
  22. I have never seen a set of them on any 1st gen, I have owned 7 of them. Now were both befuddled
  23. How fast do you need the Rich? I have a stock set I am taking off my '86 to put the larger foam ones on, but I need to get them leather wrapped 1st. I may have an additional set of foam ones if your interested in those....let me know.
  24. Seeing the anti dive on your '83 is connected to the brake system I would look at the banjo bolts for tightness. Spray it down good with some brake clean and try to pin point it that way. If memory serves me correct, there are O rings that seal the AD to the forks.
