  1. I'll look for that too, hell I had to start a list of all the stuff you need
  2. I purchased a set of Progressive springs off Amazon about 2 weeks ago and installed them in my '83, here's a link [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-11-1112-20-75-Spring/dp/B000UK3OU8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377564729&sr=8-1&keywords=Yamaha+Venture+Progressive+Fork+Springs]Progressive Suspension 11-1112 20.75" Fork Spring : Amazon.com : Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31t-ovjSDJL.@@AMEPARAM@@31t-ovjSDJL[/ame] I never use anything buy factory Yamaha fork seals. I have always had good luck with them not leaking and the ones "Guaranteed not to leak" have. Spend the money and get the Yamaha ones and have that piece of mind. The part # is 1NL-23145-00-00 I have always had good luck with Yamaha Sports Plaza http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/
  3. I have one Rich, want me to add it to the tally
  4. If Russell is going to be the auctioneer.....MAKE IT SILENT!!!
  5. 10 wt oil 13.8 oz with stock fork springs 5" (roughly) from the top of the tube with the tubes fully collapsed with progressive springs installed No use letting a thread go to waste
  6. It was good talking with you Owen, and I'm glad I could help you out a bit. You have my # now, so if you run into an issue, just give a call. Good luck on the install
  7. Yeah, funny how they grab your heart and dont let go. I have a few pics of that big beast of yours with me rough around in the garage
  8. In '08 there was no "Midnight", there was an "S" model which was the Charcoal bike. The chrome on the Midnights somewhat designated them as "S" models. The '09 S model was the Raven/Sand color.
  9. Owen, What exactly are you trying to take off. The middle gear cover (left side back one) has 6 bolts that hold it on. It WILL spill oil out once you take it off, but then you'll be able to access the clutch slave cylinder for inspection. It is located in the void at the front of that cover once it's off. If you have questions feel free to call me and I can walk you through it, my # is in my profile.
  10. I would suggest you buy that one asap, that is dirt cheap.
  11. Gary, At that altitude your not going to notice any real difference. You dont have to rejet the carbs, so dont let anyone talk you into that. The only thing that "may" need to be done is like Joe mentioned the air/fuel mix screws. If your not noticing any fuel decrease or performance decrease, leave it alone...
  12. They are as much fun to be around as you and Shari
  13. Murphy's Law....
  14. That is awesome! Do they work well as far as lighting up the road when it's dark? I'm probably going to go out and get a set regardless. Thanks for posting up the info
  15. Today is better than yesterday, Pink is back to herself (so to speak) and getting around lots better albeit slow. Her appetite is back and she has been eating and drinking regularly. Butt and tail just a wagging when she see's us and the incision is in good shape. Again thank you all for your knowledge and sharing your experience with me. I appreciate being able to come here and bounce concerns/questions off y'all
  16. Does anyone here have some insight on what weight oil, and approximately how much one of the 1st gen rear shocks take. I have a bad shock on the back of the '83, and I have what I believe to be a good replacement in the garage. I'd like to drain as much of the old oil out as I can and replace it with some fresh proper weight oil. If anyone has some info or could steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it
  17. Andy, Did you find an LED replacement bulb for your driving lights at Home Depot? If so do you remember what brand or a part # or such. How bright are the driving lights if you did put the LED bulbs in them?
  18. Not that I quite wanted it to go there, but I dont disagree with you either
  19. 1st off thank you all for posting up, I really appreciate it as I know y'all wouldn't let me down as usual. Pink is doing a LOT better today, we had to give her some of her meds this morning and that was a bit of a chore, but we got them in her belly. The anesthesia is pretty much wore off now, she got her appetite back and has eaten multiple treats and a full can of soft dog food (we only feed them hard food normally) She is still resting a lot, but I expected that. We are keeping her time with her brother at a relaxed pace. We keep an eye on him and dont let him get too excitable with or around her. He really has been doing a good job, it's funny to say, but you can see some compassion in his eyes when he's around her. He knows she's not feeling good and frequently looks to Lonna or I for a bit of consoling or guidance. They certainly are funny critters She's kept her stomach in check all day and not 1 episode of getting sick. Looks like I was being an over protective Dad and just not knowing exactly what I should be doing, if anything besides wait. Thank you all again for your insight and help, I appreciate all of you
  20. It's good to hear you enjoying yourself on a bike my friend. I hope this gets to be a habit with you
  21. In this day and age, not to defend folks, but instead to say that many of these folks dont know the code. The code is very old school 50, 60 + years old and I have to say, probably initiated by 1% clubs that never left a brother behind (much like the military) My Grandfathers, both Mother and Father side rode bikes, so I knew of the code and paying it forward at a young age. I always stop or slow down if I see a bike on the side of the road. Even if it's a slow drive by and ask if they are ok to see a thumbs up or not. I do it with vehicles as well, but I have to admit that I do stereotype. If I see some kid with the the lime green slammed fart muffler car, I usually dont stop. I KNOW he has a cell phone, and there are some things that you need to know and be able to do. Like say, changing a flat tire. Will I stop if I see a lot of distress, yeah, I will. I'll also stop if I see a carload of women in distress and perhaps not really knowing what or how to do something. I am a pay it forward type guy, but in this day and age, there are lots of scams and robberies that are taking place under the guise of a stranded motorist. With that said, we all need to be careful when approaching a situation like this.... But good on ya Amish for following the code
  22. I have to say that it's good hearing of you getting out riding more. I know for the longest time you didn't have any saddle time in, if it took a new Harley to make that happen....then so be it
  23. If he's a very good neighbor and a friend, I would try a little more on helping him see the err's of his thinking. If not, you can't fix stupid, you have given it your best attempt and if he's too pig headed to listen to an experienced rider, then let him do it on his own. I know some may think this is rude of me to say, but I dont have a lot of patience with people that know it all these days. Hopefully he has good insurance and the life he could end up taking will be his own and not some innocent bystander.....
  24. I personally dont care for the fairing either on the touring model. Should have taken it completely retro and gave all the updated tech goodies. It wouldn't even be on the long list if I was thinking of buying a new bike...
  25. I think your on the right track, run some seafoam or other gas additive to the tank and make sure it's full. Run the carbs dry and hook the tender up. If you do start the bike up in the winter time, make sure it gets to operating temperature and run the carbs dry again....
