  1. All the best to you and Momma, I know this eats on you as much as she is in pain and discomfort. I know you and your not going to take any crap from them. I really hope you folks get this diagnosed and behind you 2.
  2. Thanks Kent, I appreciate your input on this as I wasn't exactly sure. Thus why I'm asking you folks, it didn't make sense that the R/R could burn out the stator as it's just pushing AC current out. As always I learn something new from y'all, do appreciate all of your views on this topic
  3. I purchased a stator off ebay that within 3 weeks stopped charging. Now the guy who sold it to me (who shall remain nameless for now) mentioned to me that the Regulator/Rectifier can as he put it to me in an email... "check the reg/rect as if it is not doing its job the stator will often burn out because it is putting out but the regulator not regulating." I could see this possibly happening if you weren't paying attention to your volts. How likely is this to happen and would this be something that happens in 3 weeks with minimal riding? I personally think this is a stretch, the system was charging, on a newer style R/R and then pretty much just stopped. It never pushed out real good voltage. I'm not saying that the newer R/R isn't the culprit, but I would like to hear from y'all that are more in the know about these things than I am. The guy said there is a 1 year warranty, but I dont think I'm going to waste my time and money on another stator from him.
  4. Unfortunately Art, I have an AT&T hotspot 4G for my internet with only 5gb of usage for the month. If I could get even a DSL line here (which I can't) I would stream. I'm SOL when it comes to TV or high speed internet at the house right now. I have to say that I dont miss TV all that much. There wasn't really but about 10 channels that I watched and for the money I paid it wasn't worth it. At the old place I had Charter and bundled TV and high speed internet for $60 a month. I never had issues and loved the service. If I could get them here I would in a second.
  5. Thats cool, I never knew that Yamaha would extend the warranty on the bike. Learn something new everyday
  6. Just a quick update... I talked with Brain and his mechanic and I believe that we have it tackled. They are putting the cover back on and taking it for a ride. Brian will come on and let us know if it was successful, which I'm confident it will be.
  7. Great job Jeff! Were proud of you
  8. Direct TV sucks! There I said it, I had nothing but bill problems and people who couldn't or wouldn't do their jobs to make it right. When you hire uneducated idiots to work in a resolution center, and they dont do what they say they will (numerous times) you loose customers. I canceled my subscription and to this day I dont have any pay tv. At some point I might put up an antenna, but thats very low on the priority and honey do list.... BTW where I live at, it's only sat tv as any of the cable companies dont offer service out here.
  9. Jim, I may be wrong on this, but I have never heard of a legitimate "Extended Warranty" on any of the RSV or RSTD's. Yamaha offered a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty that was transferable. Unless your dealer specifically was going to cover all expenses after the factory 5 year warranty, I think someone may have blown some smoke on that statement. Again let me say that I could be wrong, but I have never seen/heard anyone getting a legit extended warranty....
  10. I'll have to get it sewn on, but I'll work at getting that done for you Ann.
  11. I'm thinking that this may be what I do. I'll buy a big used stainless sink and do a little plumbing I have let Gary know that unfortunately I dont want to wait until January. Looks like your on the winning side of the countries
  12. Totally different pads, you'll have to use the the ones specifically for the R6/R1 depending on what caliper you get. I believe that the R1/R6 is the same pad, but I'm not positive.
  13. Looks very nice John, I'm sure you'll get many miles of enjoyment out of it
  14. Dan, I only have 1 thing to say to you my friend, tinker with the 1st gens and ride the 2nd gen. Leave it alone, it doesn't need anything Nice snag, I told Lonna if I had the money I would have flown up to Cleveland Ohio and rode that bike back down to Texas
  15. Brian, Just sent you a PM , give me a call, the pressure plate is probably not on right.
  16. Rich, On your '08 RSTD they are a direct bolt on, I installed a set on Zipcodes '06 RSTD. You will notice the difference without changing the master cylinder. It's a smoother braking action, I have a set on my '86 1st gen with Stainless lines and it was a great difference, go ahead and get a pair and bolt them right on.
  17. Is it in Youngstown Ohio by any chance?
  18. Paul, With the pic you have up it does look like you DO have the spacer on the rim, so you dont have to order #4, just the washer....
  19. Thank all y'all for representing us
  20. Walts home, he should be on shortly to tell of his tale.
  21. The one in the pic I put up is the spacer that goes into the rear wheel. The smaller step goes in towards the bearing and the flat surface is what the caliper brace sits against.
  22. Myself, I have always been a WIX filter guy. I have been around heavy equipment long enough that use them and I've been sold on them. The WIX filter that fit's on to the spin on adapters for the 1st gens is # 51334
  23. I need the help of the brethren on this one... I am looking for a decent (read not harbor freight) parts washer. I have a 55 gallon drum so I really only need just the top tub. I want to get a reasonably deeper tub to hold larger items, and something that has a recirculating pump in it with a brush. I have looked at new complete ones, but they are on crack with the prices starting at $500. I know some of y'all have a bit more time to search for thing on the web than I do. So if you run across some deals or things that fit this bill, could you post them up here on this thread please
  24. Did you check your float levels to make sure they were right while you had them apart? If the floats are set high it can lead to the bike running rich.
  25. Russell, I know you feel you needed to come on and present this apology. This also is not to belittle what some have felt from the 2013 committee. I dont know all the details, but I will say 1 thing. Besides Freebird, you are the 2nd hardest working moderator on this site. I know how much more you do behind the scenes to help this site along and manage numerous accounts, all for the good of this site. It might not need to be said by me, but THANK YOU for everything you do and just plain out handle with our website. I personally appreciate you being here and helping us out
