  1. Welcome to the forum, Scribz. This is the right place to get lots of information and help to assist you in any repair or maintenance or modification you would like to do on your Venture. As far as maintenance and such...I am not sure if it has been mentioned before, replace your gear oil every other oil change. I use 80W90 on my bike and that seem to take care of most of the whine.
  2. Today, Tomorrow and the next day - will ride the bike as much as I can.
  3. One of the things I don't like about a Belt Driven motorcycle is the fear of having a belt break while I am hundreds of miles away from home in the middle of the night. I do a lot of night riding as well, so I want to have the peace of mind that my bike will not break down in the late nights and early morning hours. I also don't like replacing a belt drive....I heard it is not the easiest task to do as a DIY. With that said, I am very happy with my '07 knowing that I have a shaft driven bike and a proven motorbike. I may have to wait awhile until new owners of the transcontinental motorbike put out their likes and dislikes about the bike in the long term.
  4. That was not fun at all after loosing all lights on your dash and most importantly all turn signals are not working. At any rate, it may be a case of a wire being kinked and pressed unto something that is causing the fuse to blow prematurely. Hoping you can find the problem soon.
  5. I hope to remember to go online within 1 hour.
  6. That is a good answer to my question.
  7. Who needs Oil?
  8. I like that tool box that you can sit on. Very Handy for sure.
  9. Hmmm. This is the first time I heard about the benefit of Petroleum Jelly on battery terminals. I don't know, if we have something around the house. I'll ask the family. Thanks
  10. Glad to hear that you are just sore and survived the crash. Your guardian is truly watching over you. Hope you can get yourself checked out down the road. Heal and rest. Regards.
  11. So this is a reply to my own post.... I cleaned both battery terminals the other day and rode since then with no ill effects at all. I noticed very minimal amount of dirt and corrosion on the terminals - cleaned with a small wire brush and wiped clean and then reinstalled connectors. It is just amazing no matter how small the dirt is around the terminals, it still has a significant effect on the starting ability of the battery. FWIW, this is my 2nd battery and has lasted about 4 years now. The bike has 51K miles to date.
  12. I bought my first Mobil1 oil filter and it is for the cager. Next month, I am due for a change oil so it is nice to know what Mobil1 oil filter to get for the Venture.
  13. I tried to my Venture today and all I heard was a click...the 2nd time I pressed on the start button, another 'click' then all went dark. I noticed 2 months ago that my battery conditioner has been constantly turning on while plugged in on the bike. I thought this did not look normal to me. I am now leaning towards a very weak and dying/dead battery. Need to ride tomorrow, so I will have to pickup a new one locally.
  14. This is the original symptom I just had early this afternoon...as I already had all my things packed in the trunk and side bags then I tried to start and all I heard was a single click. There was lights until the second click and all went dark. I didn't have time to remove the seat and take a quick look since I am already on my way to work....had to take the cage. I will have to check the health of my battery and see how my cables look as well tomorrow morning. A little disappointed since I couldn't ride on a very nice day like today.
  15. Looks like you are having fun even when not riding. You encourage me to wipe down my bike tomorrow and head to the gym before the rain comes in the afternoon.
  16. Snow in April can be too much, but glad to hear you already have your first ride in. I am looking forward to more warm days to come. Ride Safe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I like the idea. Truly wise to send your current location while on a stop only. Keep your eyes on the road and enjoy the ride.
  18. I still have 4 months to go before I renew my Insurance. Looking forward to some beautiful summer rides.
  19. Just don't run over sharp objects on that.... Looks pretty cool!
  20. I always do the middle of the range gap. Replace plugs every 8000 Miles.
  21. Glad you had a great time. Still patiently waiting for snow to completely melt over here. Another week and things should warm up. Ride Safe.
  22. OMG - I can just imagine, if I rode with a shorter windshield. My helmet will be full of bugs by the time I reach my destination. I stay with the orginal tall windshield to protect me from the wind and other road debris.

I don't think that is for me. My Venture is still easier to maintain and more fun to ride.
  24. Disappointing Snow amounts in our area. I was off yesterday and back to normal here. It only took me less than an hour to clear the driveway and walkway. Snow total in my area is about 5 or 6 inches. Not bad, but my wife wans't too happy now that she is back to work instead of Friday.... So, I now have to get ready for work in a couple of hours. I hope this is it for Winter. We have I guess about 5 more days before Spring. Goodbye Cold Temps....
  25. Ok, I am starting to suspect you have some kind of alcohol in your water bottle.
