  1. i just overhauled my 86 , i used pistons from an 2013 royal star venture . only diff. is a slight recess on piston top. not an problem.
  2. to turn the thing u had to move the handle bar side to side as both tracks turn the same speed.
  3. yep! not only did i see one but rode them and worked for a dealer that sold them back in the 60s. they wernt to bad on the flat land . the boss all most broke his thumb while going in and out of ditches when the handle bar made contact with the yoke on the sled with his thumb in the middle. such fun!
  4. had a 79 xs1100f about 5 years . sold it , still see it around . great ol, bike.
  5. I have had the joy of having my venture going on 18 years and 165.000 miles .its earned my trust many times over, and were not done yet!!
  6. if you have an 86 or an 02 you should have a spring and a thin shim that fit between the filter cup and filter. shim goes tween filter and spring.
  7. dont bother foolin around, just replace head bearings . it wont heal.
  8. sounds like 1 carb is way out of sync try a sync job and see if it goes away .
  9. they sell a small bracket that fits under the licence plate with 2 flat spots and some 2 sided tape to stick them on with , works very well . have been on for about 4 years now
  10. yep! i have the running/flashing brake lights they work fantastic. tailgaters will back off right now .best lighting bucks i have spent. have woke up many a driver who had there head some where else. ( wont say where) . u will like them!
  11. yep no spacers no air 7 inches 10 wt oil and still to harsh for this ol carcus.
  12. i have gave the fork spring upgrade about 1000 mile test and as much as i wanted it to work and with all the combos i tried the thing was beating me up to hard so i went back to stock springs and antidives . i am happy with the way it works for me . SO i have a set of slightly used springs and block off plates for a mk 2 if any one is interested. will let go for 130.00 . pm me .
  13. me thinks it might be a bit newer then 86 as anti dive valves are on the side of the fork tubes and not on front like 86. any one know 1st year they went to the side??.
  14. luke i have a cure for you. pm me with your email address and i will send pics.it came off my 86 so it will fit.pay for shipping and its yours.
  15. just checking to see what has been done by those who have installed progressive springs to fine tune the ride that you are looking for. the first test of my 86 at 1/2 inch spacer and 5.5 inches of 10 w. oil just about beat me to death. 2ed time no spacer except for thin flat washer that come with set and 6.5 inches was better but still to choppy . so i lowered the oil to 7.5 inches that a major improvement to the ride and is still good nuff to control nose dive and corners like on rails. my 86 is a small bit lighter then most ventures i ride 1 up 98 % of time with bags not more then 1/2 full and i way 201 lbs. i am betting most of you are riding mostly full dress and some times 2 up with full bags and trunk. please share what your results are to help the next rider find the happy spot . also running skydocs block off plates to dump antidives. now loving it !
  16. I call my 86 ol blue cuz its old and blue
  17. use hjc sy-max 2 moduler:happy34:
  18. glad to hear you are alive and will heal in time . i know what it is like , i also killed one in 2001 and live to ride some more. you wont forget it and will be even more aware then ever when riding. glad to see your finding a new ride. dont forget to thank your maker and heal up .
  19. YA! thats nice ! i also lean to the silver and blue !!.
