The stats counter progresses anytime somebody registers. Some register and then never officially join. Others have come and gone over the years. The members list does not include expired memberships, expired trial members that left, people who have sold their bikes or move on for other reasons. That number used to be more than 14,000 but I pruned it recently and will do so again at some point.

I would just like to add that in fairness....the other site charges $20.00 per year but I think you get a patch and maybe something else. I just chose to keep the dues lower and let people buy patches and etc. should they want them. Not everybody does.

Those nasty trim clips!
Freebird replied to beastwood's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't know what trim you are referring to either. I don't know of any trim on mine. -
LOL....I must have missed something....I'm not sure what you are talking about.

I wish those numbers were right though. I would LOVE to stay home during the week instead of working my real job. Tell you what, get use up to those numbers and I'll buy and give away a brand new RSV to a lucky member.

Really sorry to hear of this Dan. I can only promise that she will be in my prayers. She sounds like a remarkable young lady.

No, only supporting members can access the map and your profile. It's all good.

He probably got an invitation. He is still welcome I'm sure he can still read. He hasn't been banned.

Folks, let me make it clear. As far as I know, I never had any issues with him. I don't remember any problems. Maybe there were and I wasn't aware. He said that he was offered a free membership here. I don't remember that either but it is possible. If I had reason to think that he was having a financial problem, I very likely did offer him a free membership as I have done with several members here. He stated that it wasn't a money issue but just didn't think he should have to pay. That's fine and he certainly has a right to that opinion. The only thing that bothers me is that he seems to really have a bitter attitude about it. That is a bit hard to understand when I offered him a free membership out of kindness before learning that it wasn't a financial issue when he refused it. Many folks have posted links here to other sites including Star rides, articles at the Venturers, etc. I have never had an issue with that but if he does, that's his decision for whatever reason. At any rate, I'm not going to lose any sleep over this. In the grand scheme of things, it's just not important enough to get upset over.

LOL...he is welcome.

You are right. The permissions were set wrong. Not sure it's really that big a deal but I've changed the settings. As much for any future conflicts than for this particular issue.

Contest Starts NOW! Free accomadations at Maintenance Day
Freebird replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Yes, all those things are included. Now what you will do is to stand on the porch and hold your breath and somebody will be right with you.....yea....that's it. -
Yes, unfortunately that's just the way it works. I would prefer to see just that member show up but what it does is centers him in the map. That can still make it hard to find him or her if there are a lot of pins in that area. I don't know how to change that at this time.

That's OK...I had found it. People have differing opinions and that's OK. I actually was a member of that one but haven't been there in a LONG time. I just removed myself from it. I don't really care about his opinion one way or the other but don't want to be listed there if he is going to badmouth us.

What is the page? I may be a member and if so, I need to delete myself from it.

1989 Venture Royale for sale...can't get it to accept in classifieds
Freebird replied to a topic in Watering Hole
As you know, I have replied to your email probably after you posted this. Try it without the pictures, they are likely too large. -
I figured I had better get busy huh? HATE doing them and HATE sending the money that I always owe but I think I've put it off almost as long as I can this year. Just spent about 3 hours working on mine and am just about done....but oh....it hurts.

You made a wise decision young grasshopper.

Got the following email back from Gunkylump in response to the email I sent regarding maintenance day. He asked to to say hello to you all so I thought I would just post his email and bring you all up to date. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Hi Don: Thanks so much for the invite, but Beth and I won't be able to make it again this year. As you know, we sold our two royal stars almost two years ago now, pretty much after our vacation trip to your great home state of Texas, where we visited with many, including Ponch and gang. Sure miss everyone! We purchased a sailboat, and you probably didn't hear, but I had a serious accident while stepping off the boat last September. I broke my left leg, both bones, at the ankle, and dislocated my foot. I was off work for 5 months, and probably went back to work too early....but had no choice $$$ wise. I am progressing well, but by the end of the work week, I'm pretty sore and gimpy....so, from gimpy to gunky...all in one fell swoop. Beth misses the bike, sometimes I do. Funny thing, and here is some irony for you...I bought my first bike when I was 12 years old, picked dew worms, cut lawns, shovelled snow...saved up for that 50 cc Bombardier. I then rode on and off for some 43 years, no issues. After Ponch's and a few other accidents, I began to feel vulnerable, and uncomfortable. Once I got my leg swung over the seat of the bike, I was ok, but the problem was getting my leg there. Nothing physical mind you, just a mental thing...worried about getting wacked and being responsible for Beth getting injured. So....I sold out. Bought the boat, the rest, as they say, is history. I miss the Venture gang, the family. I visit the site regularly, but have not paid the fee. If you would be so kind as to say hi to everyone for us, and maybe just a small update to let them all know we're doing fine and missing y'all, it would be appreciated. BTW, the fella that bought our Venture is now a member, Barry from Amherstburg, ON. Nice guy, and he's thrilled with the bike. I hope you get to meet him some day. Take care, you, Eileen and the rest of the Venture family are forever in our thoughts. gunkylump

Come on folks. Only about 100 people are presently signed up for Maintenance Day. That is WAY down and I have to think that more of you are planning to attend. Please get your name on the list so that I can start getting a better idea. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=337&day=2013-6-8&c=1

If anybody wants to come to Maintenance Day and camp but doesn't want to bring the tent, I have one that I can setup for you to use. It's a good sized tent that will sleep at least 4 comfortably. Let me know and I'll have it setup before you get here. NOTE: Picture shows optional accessories that are NOT included.

I have added the link to the Home Page also. OK folks...there are now 180 of you on the map. A LOT of you haven't added your information yet.
