  1. It's not yet in concrete but I'm thinking the weekend of June 10th for Maintenance Day.

    VMax

A number of us here have done that. It is not a direct swap. The RSV has a place for the speedo sensor to fit. The VMax does not. You either have to drill a hole and machine a flat spot on the VMax rear or install the VMax gears into a RSV housing. Many of us do like it though.
  3. Not the news we want to hear but glad you are able to let us know. Keep us posted as you can. Prayers up.
  4. I do understand what you are saying. My question is why can't the discussion just take place there in the links to Craigslist? I'm not saying no, just wondering if another area for it is truly needed. The reason that such links to Craigslist is not allowed anywhere else is because usually within a few days, the links are invalid and it makes the posts pretty much useless. In the links area, those threads are automatically deleted after "X" number of days so the threads with invalid links to ads do not have to be manually removed. I have tried to be fairly lenient when such a link is used to show something in an ongoing thread elsewhere but even then, it is just a matter of days before it is useless. I'm open to any arguments though.
  5. I had seen that a while back. I actually like it but would want to see it with a tour pack and etc. Not a complete tourer as is, in my opinion.
  6. It is true that you can't give "thanks" or "likes" for your own posts. I see that option on everybody's posts except my own though.
  7. There are a few people here who have done some type of VMax conversions to their bikes. This area will be to share that information with others who are interested.
  8. Don't know if there is enough interest or not but we have other areas that don't get used much also so I went ahead and added the new forum. It's under the Tech Talk section.
  9. I had a request to create a new forum for those of you who have or are considering doing VMax conversions to your bikes. Thought I would see how much interest there is first.
  10. That would be ok but we use it for a lot more than just location. It is tied to spreadsheets, access databases, etc. You can click on a pin and get a lot of information about the customer before you go in to see them.
  11. It seems to depend upon which version of Windows 10 you have. It is my understanding that Windows 10 Home Edition does not give you the option of turning off the auto updates. On my Dell laptop, I have Windows 10 Pro edition. It gives me the option of deferring updates and also being notified to schedule updates and not just updating when it decides to. A few weeks ago, I was notified that Windows 10 Anniversary Edition was available. I let it upgrade on a Sunday and all seemed fine. The next day, I prepared to hit the road to see some customers. Put my computer in the RAM Mount that I have in my car, plugged in the power and the USB connected GPS puck for Microsoft Streets and Trips as I always do, turned on the computer and just as it was about finished booting up, I got the blue screen of death. First time I had ever seen that with Windows 10. It took me a few minutes to realize that the only thing different was the GPS puck being plugged in. I unplugged it and the computer booted as it should. Plugged it back in after it had booted and immediately got the blue screen of death again. Did some quick searching only to learn that others had run into the same issue. No known fix that I have found even to this day. So I immediately rolled my system back to the previous version of Windows 10 and have deferred future updates. Since Microsoft no longer supports Streets and Trips, it is unlikely that a solution will be offered. I will just stay with the version of 10 that I have for as long as I can. What I'm not sure about is how long Microsoft will allow me to defer the update or if I will be allowed to defer again when the time comes. I have not done an extensive search on the issue but from what I've seen, it just says that you can defer for "months". I like Windows 10. It has worked fine for me but this computer is only a few months old. The company sent me a new one recently and it came with Windows 10 installed. What I don't like though are these forced updates. Until my company decides upon and implements a new mapping system for our customer maps, I really need to keep Streets and Trips working. My 13,000 customers are pinned with it and my job will become much more difficult without it. For my personal computer, the one I am on right now, I use a MacBook Pro. I was one the despised the Mac but I finally let my son talk me into buying one a couple of years ago. My only regret now is that I didn't do it sooner. There is a very slight learning curve but not much. The main thing is that it just works as it should.
  12. Looks like BSA is going to make a return but probably built in India. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2016/10/27/bsa-motorcycles-back-in-business.html
  13. Really not much noticeable difference once it was inflated. It had been sitting for a while and only had about 20 lbs of air in it. I started at 38 psi and it looks very close to that picture. That being said, I won't be trying different tires. Here's the thing. I had a tire go bad, Ironmike had this one sitting in his garage because he took it off and put the MC tire back on his RSV when he traded it off. He told me to take it and see what I thought. So far, my thoughts are mixed. Nothing really negative but certainly not the feel that I'm used to. If I decide that it's not for me, I won't be buying and experimenting with another car tire. I'll just order a MC tire and be done with it. There seem to be a lot of differing opinions on the preferred air pressure. Just in two posts I've seen 34 psi and 45 psi. That's a huge difference. I'll experiment just a little but I just want to get on the bike and ride. I've reached a point where I don't want to be messing and experimenting with things all the time. If Mike hadn't happened to have this tire already mounted and offered to let me try it out, I wouldn't have even considered installing a car tire. So if I end up not liking this one, that will be the end of it for me.
  14. Well, I put it on this morning and then went for a ride. Not a very long ride because we have company but I found a few curves and then coming back a bit of straight road to try it at higher speed. I talked to Ironmike and he couldn't remember what pressure he ran but thought that 37 psi sounded right. I put 38 in it but I think it needs more. Anyway, it's different but didn't feel bad. Normal riding in a straight line...I don't know exactly how to describe it but if you swerve back and forth....sort of like you would if you were trying to scuff in a new tire...it seems to want to stay more upright. If that makes any sense. Leaning hard into curves felt just fine. Honestly, I couldn't feel much...if any...difference in a curve that with a MC tire. On a piece of straight road, I bumped it up to an indicated 110 MPH and it was fine. Did seem to want to wander a bit at that speed but like I said, I think it needs a bit more air. So my opinion at this point is a DEFINATE....maybe.
  15. Be aware that many Internet Service providers are having issues today. VentureRider seems to be OK at this time but a lot of major sites have been shut down due to Denial of Service attacks. Seems to be primarily on the east coast but they really don't know what is going on yet. I seem to be able to access the Internet but PayPal and some other sites are up and down. My personal email has also been down for a large part of the day.
  16. Not my thing but it is pretty cool. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2016/10/21/triumphs-new-bonneville-bobber-is-factory-custom-with-hardtail-looks.html
  17. Well, I have always been adamantly against the idea but I posted last weekend that I lost a chunk of tread out of my rear tire. Ironmike took his wheel with the BF Goodrich tire off his RSV when he traded it in and told me to take it and try it. So....I guess I will. Have to do some reading or talk to him to find out what pressure was working best for him.
  18. He and all the family will be in our prayers. Glad to hear that things are looking good.
  19. LOL...we don't care where you are from and your question is fine. I promise you that I am calm. Even if you were a spammer, I would still be calm. Spammers are gone quicker than it takes them to spam anyway. No offense intended but when people put in fake locations and etc., it makes you wonder.
  20. By the way. I just looked up the IP Address that this person registered from. The profile says they are from LA and the state LA. Another clue by the way. The IP address is in Egypt though. The email address is a freebie from Yahoo...which I realize a lot of people use but just one of many things that I look at.
  21. LOL...trial member, no check to cash. Listen, this is the watering hole and the question is fine. I can tell you though that after running this site for well over 10 years I've learned one or two things. It is not ALWAYS the case...maybe...but most of the time when a new trial member registers and shows no type of motorcycle in their profile and then immediately asks a question that has absolutely nothing to do with what the site is about, it ends up being a spammer. Almost 100% of the time. I hope that is not the case this time. They way it typically unfolds though is that a couple of innocuous posts are made in an effort appear normal and then come the links to whatever they are trying to sell. We'll see. I hope I am wrong.
  22. Agree with MIke. The later model will work perfectly. Not sure it's actually any better though. The Hagon is rebuildable but I've never used it or the Works. Both get great reviews. I understand what you mean about it being non-adjustable but that's not a big deal to me. I usually don't ever change mine anyway. If the day comes that I need a new shock on my '05, I will go with one of the aftermarket models.
  23. OK...help me understand. You join a MOTORCYCLE forum and your FIRST post is to ask about Halloween decorations? I'm sure that somebody will have some suggestions but it just seems a bit strange.
  24. I can assure you that I was focused. Really wasn't that nervous because I felt I could control it if I kept my speed reasonable. My wife was a nervous wreck though. I can assure you that both hands were on the grips the entire time.
  25. Some of these were pretty much stock with the original motors but if you look carefully you will see that some have been beefed up with newer and more powerful ones. The nice red one in the second picture is one example. It has a V-Twin Briggs engine. Not sure about the HP on that one but one guy spoke of having 35 HP. That's a lot for those scooters. He said that the record top speed in their club is just over 100 MPH. Several of these had the V-Twins.
