Sure sounds like the cylinder plugs under the fins. At least the small spot. If so, very easy and cheap fix. You will have to pull the cylinder cover before you can tell. LOL...that's more of an answer than I have found. I wondered if the F stood for Four Cylinders but I found a Yamaha FL snowmobile and it is three cylinders so that idea is out the window. Maybe Full Luxury?

I had never seen this one either. It is "Yamaha" so I'm sure was available at one point or another. I've always liked the Wool/Leather style jackets. Have a couple already but one is Harley. Probably put it on Ebay at some point.

Stumbled upon this on Ebay last week. Star apparel is getting very difficult to find. It was listed as "Used and Excellent". It doesn't look like it was ever worn. It was my size so I put in a low bid and was really surprised to win it.

Somebody may be able to tell you what the "F" stands for but I'm not sure. I can only tell you that the 13 TFL is the standard model and the only one offered in '99 except for the TFLC which designates California model. They later came out with the TFLS which stands for "Special". It was different in that it had more chrome. Front forks, brake reservoirs, etc. are chrome. Actually, the "Midnight" model came out before the Special. It too had the extra chrome but also all the Midnights were black. There were no Midnights or Specials in '99.

You will find a few, but very few, fans of the Metzler on this site. There have been too many reports of them delaminating. The consensus here has been Dunlop E3 or E4, Michelin Commander II, or Avon Venom. The Avon Venom was the preferred tire for several years but some, including me, starting having problems with the sidewalls cracking prematurely. As for the mileage, that is all over the place. Some have reported as much as 20,000 on the rear but most of us, I think, get in the 12,000 to 14,000 mile range. More on the fronts either way but those of us in the 12,000 range usually get around 20,000 on the fronts.

I can't remember. On my first one I did. Got the kit from Yamaha and installed it. Honestly don't remember on that one but I think I did.

Lift the mat in the trunk. Make sure the bottom isn't cracked. The first year had a problem with that. They came out with a modification but a lot of peope never did it. Included large washers and a rubber pad at the rear bottom outside.

Just put Maintenance Day 2017 on the calendar and in the Regional Rally forum. So everybody should have plenty of time to make your plans. Hope we have a great one this year. It's always a lot of fun for Eileen and I. The date for 2017 is June 10th. Hope to see MANY of you there.

So sorry for your loss. Sounds like you have some wonderful memories. Cherish them because it's through those memories that she lives on.
