  4. I figure I could find you some help if need be,,,, I hear Freebird has some time here and there, and then the Bum ain't working so hard now that he's with a cane. Now Patch maybe a bit far away, maybe just depends on how far up is? Yep!!! I don't think it would be that hard to find some help. On the other side, I understand your story and would agree with you fully, but\and it's those times that make us think the wrong things about other times that people look at us,,, for it's not necessarily actually HOW they look at us, but rather how WE think they are looking at us, Give that some thought maybe.
  5. Patience is the first tool you need. When you are done go to HF and get another one, this time bigger and stronger. If it still won't come off, grab a little patience from your neighbour. In other words: Open up the engine case and set aside for use maybe later, set it well aside so as to not get damaged by articles of unknown origin. Remove bolt that holds the stator in place and set aside so as to not get lost. Install a decent puller, something robust making sure it's square and plumb and snug. Put some tension on the puller, check to make sure things are right and proper. Install a box with rags in front of and below the balancer. Now is where you need that patience. Tighten the puller,,,, no!!!!!I said tighten the puller,,, you'll need at least a 2ft bar to get it that far. Do not stand in front of it, for when it comes it will scare the poop out of ya, especially if you are infront of it, may even do some other damage. If it didin't come yet wait til tomorrow, if tomorrow comes and it's still there, get a good sized heavy solid drift and a decent persuader and tap the center cone of the balancer a bit, some on the top, some on the bottom and then maybe some on the sides for good measure. squeeze the puller some more and drift a bit more, then squeeze the puller some more and then wait until tomorrow, keeping the box of rags in place. Now I go plow snow.

Maybe it's got to do with you eating less sugar these days? or Maybe it;s got to do with the mentality of DQ and others: let's see, sugar is cheap, so how can we sell it for more money and get people to buy it,,,,,, we got it, let's add some dairy and call it IC. Guess what, it works. Works with salt as well, same book, just another page. The meat industry has this down pat!!

  9. By my chart for 99-09 Venture. The white serves, Speed sensor, Cruise, Master Control, Flasher relay. Now for the other wire,, the greenish ones there is a choice of: Black,Brown,Chocolate, Dark Green, Green, Gray, Blue, Light Green, Orange, Pink, Red, Sky Blue, White, Yellow. Those are all the solid colors listed. Check to make sure that there are no tracer colors on those wires.
  10. My wife, Marca, uses a Phillips machine, but she has had it about 6 years already so the model has been outdated long ago. She is happy with it and it works just fine for her. Guess it's up to you to research and pick. Some of the things she finds important. Cleanability, pressure adjustment, filling water reservoir, heated tube to mouth piece,(keep moisture from collecting in tube, in any climate), transport ease, noise. She wears hers nightly, although on occasion she might do without, but her diagnosis wasn't as bad as yours. Interesting thing was that when she got tested they said she stopped breathing 39 time per hour,, so that would work out to once every 2 minutes or so. I wake up regularly during the night and every time I will check if she is still breathing,, have done this for 49 years, but I could never notice her stopping breathing, even if I stayed awake for 10 minutes or so,,,???? go figure,,,, but she feels better, so, so be it. I might suggest to look online for a used machine, they are not that hard to clean and sanitize, but I would go new on the hose and face mask for sure. Face masks are a personal preference, you need to try one on before purchase. It will depend on how you breath as well. Marca is a mouth breather so needs a mask that covers her nose as well as her mouth, other people only need to cover their nose, so everybody is different. Marca also has gone to using a blinder on her eyes to keep any air leakage from drying out her eyes overnight, seemed to be a problem for her,,, added benefit is she doesn't have to look at me for the period of time,,,, BONUS!!! She uses a Phillips ResMed IP21.

  12. Can't say much for a 2nd gen, but my experience with 1st gens is that coming out is the easy part,,,, got to remember where you held your tongue to get it to go back in. In other words,,, if I'm allowed,,, it slid out but wrestled back in. Does that tell you something?

  14. You are so absolutely correct Mr. Pucster, I couldn't agree with you more,,, even though that might hurt a little. In my post I assumed that the housing would have been compromised, but if it is deemed to be usable then there would be no need to extract the powerplant from it's place of resting. The only reason then, that I was suggesting to remove the engine was to be able to get the gear lash set proper with the proper shims. Glad to have you on board Mr. Puc!!
  15. So the job now is: pull the engine, turn it upside down, take off the bottom cover and then you can easily get at the stuff you need to. You won't be doing any engine work at all, just a simple transmission. I have done this a number of times, and I remember the last time was on a blonde 84 Venture,,, it was the 3rd time that engine was coming out in a 4 week span. The bike was ready for the road, all put together and in 45 minutes I had the engine ready to come out, another 30 minutes had me right into the transmission,,,, can be done, it's not that hard eh? Just remember, somebody else designed it, folks that put it together had no idea of what they were doing and now all you have to do is to take it apart, tell us what you all see or post some more pictures and Bob's your uncle.

  17. There is likely only one reason for those 2 to come to this event,, and it isn't to see if 'Big what ever' has changed in size, nor is it to eat ice-cream or win at the PuttPutt. I really think I know the reason and @saddlebum had best get some practice in,, for these young ladies and any others that might venture to this shindig will only go for the bestust of the best, and they know that I will be there.

  19. The only reason to rotate the caliper would be to get the bleeder port to a higher position, so to easier bleed out the air. Pads would be left in place and should nicely slide back to working position. You won't be putting much pressure on them if any during the bleeding process.

  22. I hugged both Dave and Elaine, and don't get awfully upset when I say that Elaine hugs much better,,,, @dogman is not bad at it mind you, but has a long way to go to get as good as Elaine. And just so there is not question on partiality, Sally hugs better than @saddlebum.
  23. It's really a hit and miss and when a part goes bad the results are very seldom identical. When a piston blows, does it always take out the high side? or when a tire blows out does it always send you for the ditch? Get my drift? You have a stuck something somewhere, and I wouldn't be looking in the clutch basket first because it's the most work. A u-joint can break and it happens, it's not unheard of. For the time it takes, shine a flashlight into the driveshaft container and take a peek at the joint, it should be loose and movable, then move on from there. If the joint is tight, start your thinking from there. If the problem isn't at the joint and your discovery session at the basket doesn't show you anything, then you'll have to pull the engine and turn it upside down to open up the gearbox,, let's hope not,, and you would the first one to have such an issue,,, that I have heard of,,,,, not that I hear everything, I am getting older and my wife tells me I don't hear her mumblings so well anymore.
