I think it's really the way of the world. If we look at history (and it tends to repeat itself now and again) we discover that throughout time there have been wars, pestilences, disease, natural disasters, and more stuff that seemed to get in the way of 'living'. It all ties back to religion I suppose with the fight between good and evil, but I won't go there. Just the facts will tell us that we are a long way away from beating all those issues. Our forefathers, and mothers, had to deal with the happenings in their time, and now we get to deal with ours. We never can plan when these items will come up to sit on our table and stare us down. Although lately we thought that maybe we had the tiger by the tail and could live in peace and harmony,,, it's seems the apple cart got upset again, and this time from a corner that wasn't expected,,, again!!! So what else is new in the grand scope of things? It turns out, that on the whole we are not faring much or any better than the folks in history did. Some made it through, and some didn't, same as today. In the end all those born onto this earth have a time to endure here, some longer, some not so longer, or shorter if you will, but we all have to be here until we leave in death. So far nobody has beat this death thing, anymore than being able to beat the other problems I listed. They keep reoccurring. So I think it's best to take the attitude that enjoy the life we have while it can be enjoyed, and if troubles come our way, endure them as best we can and try to be a help to those less fortunate than we are. That makes living on this earth much more enjoyable and worthwhile for the time we get to spend here.

When I was in the learning mode,,, (that's years ago),,,and I was a youngster,,, (that's also a couple of years ago),,,,before I started getting grey hair,,( just yesterday) anyways,,where was I going with this thought? Oh Yah, I was taught that if somebody posted something on a board, it was not somebody else's privilege to remove it. Now I would like to 'clean' up this thread and remove posts that don't pertain to Corvid,,,, any problems with that? you who posted?

You think she lived that long because of the cast iron? -
Non-bike related. Cooking ground meat in cast iron, general Q.
Marcarl replied to CaseyJ955's topic in Watering Hole
The best cooking is cast Iron,, been using them for years,,, there are good ones and not so good ones. The good ones stay flat and are easy clean. The pan bottom needs to be smooth, not sure if you can sand them smooth or not, but if it is gritty, then sticking becomes an issue. We use olive oil in our pans, or butter,, but not the cheap butter,, you have to get the good stuff, but it ain't cheap either. I heat the pan, and as I do I will add the oil or butter, oil will heat higher than butter, so it your choice in time. Onions and mushroom get butter for sure... steaks get butter only if I plan to watch things like a hawk and be sure to sear the steaks the moment the butter starts to smoke. If you try to lift your meat (any meat) to early during searing, it will stick, but one properly seared it will be crusted and loose,,, so be patient. Clean up is as you described, easy stuff. Can't remember the last time I needed to re-do a pan, it actually gets done as you use it. The only time you need to re-do, is if you made a big mess, had to use soap, waster and a scrubber to clean up. The maybe a quick re-do would be in order,,, wash, dry with heat, oil well while still warm, let cool!! Best of luck, let us know how it goes. -
Noe Earl??? I thought that the water pump sat right beside the clutch,,, but then I'm only a butcher and tent to misplace things sometimes.

Yahhhh Carl has very little sense and so no fear of danger,, wifie says I wouldn't recognize danger if I did see it.. I can argue with her on that,,, anymore than 6' off the ground I find is not just dangerous,,,,it's just plain stupid!!! So don't go showing anymore vids of those roads in South America,,I couldn't sleep for days!! As far as this thread goes??? not so bad so far. I guess what happens though, is that we all want to prove a point to show that we either know better, believe better, or have a better handle on things. It's when that starts to happen, we get a little hot with words and then the train comes off the rails. As long as we write and type to present information and keep it to that, the readers can digest and respond in like kind and the whole family is happy. I'm one that loves more info, and then I can be the judge if I want to accept it as mine, or let it pass so the next varmit can deal with it.

I remember that!!! down right confusing it was,, after all, I had just put them babies back on and checked and rechecked them, so no need to check them again,, Right??? WRONG!!! -
Watch your tongues boys!!!!! This thread might live if we keep it informative and supportive, but if or when it goes off the rails,,, it's history!!

Back in 2015 when we had our fire, the insurance was there right pronto,,,,, at first,,,, and then things slowed down,,, the first cheque was within a week, in the end they wouldn't pay it all,,, not even the 25k that was supposed to be a catch all. Then they upped the premium and when I went looking for a better rate I ended up with half the price and better claimed to be coverage. I will never use Intact again.

I was taught that there are problems and there are situations. Problems are there to be solved or working on. Situations are different, they are kind of standard and will be there, so they get to be taken as permanent, so we work around them,,, well until they become a problem and then the real work begins.

Concerns about my V4 engine
Marcarl replied to Jose.diaz12B's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I would get rid of the 0-rings on the main jets. Also the turns on the mixture screws is only posted to set things so that the engine will start. Once the engine runs they need to be adjusted differently for each cylinder, for each cylinder is slightly different from another and these screws help to adjust for the difference. So set the screws by the book, if you will, and then once the engine is fully warmed, adjust the screws. I use a vacuum gauge on each cylinder to get the max vacuum, others use different methods. A tach will not usually give you the fine measurement wanted to get things just right, but if that's all you got, it should get you somewhat close enough to be happy. And go around each cylinder until hey are all right,,, once is not good enough. -
Couldn't make it in last night, tried to scan something on my printer, wouldn't scan, went to refresh things and then had to shut down the computer, when it rebooted Windows decided it was time to update (update is turned off and deleted, but I guess not all of it). Anyways after an hour or so, Windows decides it can't finish update so it takes another 45minutes to redo what it shouldn't have done in the first place. Windows 10,,, drive me nuts!!!!

Ahhh Bum, why didn't you tell me,,, I could have gone to get her,,, you know how nice I am and willing to help out where necessary.

Cleaning the rotors just before pad install is always a good thing. Break-in time will greatly vary with how grooved the rotors are. It would be nice to resurface the rotors every-time but I don't think that happens all that often on bike, although on cars it seems to be the norm to install new rotors with new pads. Somethin don't make much sense there eh? So to answer your question though, I would expect braking wouldn't be the same for at least 100 miles with lots of braking and some good hard braking toward the end of the trip(s). Same goes for new tires, they need to scuff up some to be safe.
