  1. I did about 120 miles shake down ride today and all was well. I think she is ready to go to the mountains for a few days. Earl
  2. Things I finished up today Stator is in and now charging system is putting out 14 volts Got new fuel filter put in New spark plugs put in Installed a Dana 3000 ignition box, set it at 7,000 RPM and ignition to level 5 The battery was only two years old, but I went back with a new one. Tomorrow I plan a good shake down run if the weather cooperates. Next week I plan to take a six day trip to the mountains.
  3. I hope it's the V/R or the connection at the V/R plug. Earl
  4. I love the new Venture, but like most here was hoping for an up-date V4. But it came as no surprise that they went with the V Twin. Over the past ten years I have observed on the Interstate and at major bike rally that V Twin bikes out numbered both V4 and 6 cylinder bikes. Yamaha has been making those same observations and it is just business. Time will tell if it was good business or not.
  5. I have the Chrome covers with K&Ns too, no need to rejet Earl
  6. Wow, glad the truck hit the side and not head on. I am thankful no one was hurt, cars can be fixed or replaced.
  7. I stared about three weeks ago checking out a no charge condition. I have only been able to work on it about 30-45 minutes at the time, due to my lower back, hips and the author boys. My voltage regulator is hard wired in, so I had to go to the stator connector down under the battery and fuel filter to check the stator. It checked out to be shorted to ground. I was hoping I could get the stator cover off without lowering the exhaust pipe, but that was a no go. This afternoon I dropped the exhaust and the cover popped right off. I was looking to see the stator showing signs of over heating, but to the eye it looks perfect. I grabbed my meter and did a recheck. It may look good, but it is shorted to ground. Tomorrow I will try to get the screws out. I hope I can put it back together faster than I took it apart. LOL Earl

  10. I checked mine one day and it was almost out. The next time I went for a ride it would have been gone by by.
  11. Skid, I am not sure if I am going to make it. We were scheduled Saturday with the prison to do our training to get our prison clearance card. There were some issues at the prison Saturday and the training got postponed to sometime during May 15-18th. So plan it on a day that works best for you all. Earl
  12. Being only 5’ 6” I liked it lowering the bike and gear ratio too. The gearing is perfect now. I have put 14,000 miles on it. About ½ of them were on the interstate and the other on two lanes. It is a little quicker now and I don’t see any difference in gas mileage. Earl
