My Harley does it too. Oil pressure goes to zero, but oil light doesn’t come on. In heavy traffic or long red lights, I kill the engine rather that let it sit and idle. Starts quick when traffic starts moving again. I’ve watched the guys at Sturgis sit in traffic ideling and the bikes get so hot they start popping and banging and finally die. Saw one catch fire.

I carry the factory kit plus a tool kit from my old 1976 Hold Wing limited. It has sockets, ratchets, lots of open end and box end wrenches. A 12 inch crescent, hammer, soldering gun, glueless tire plug kit, 12v compressor, wire ties, epoxy, superglue, microfiber towels. Small WD40, contact cleaner. I’ve rebuilt rear wheels, bearings, replaced alternator, endless chains, melted fuse boxes, leaking carburetors, tires, clutch and brake master cylinders, brake pads, and numerous other things. Normally 4 of us that ride together. Been all over the US, unimaginable miles, close to a million. never know what’s gonna happen. Most of the time nothing at all..

That Kawasaki May be the worst, but the second gen Venture is a strong second. One of the worst handling bikes ive ever ridden. Ive put over 250,000 miles on gen ones. This is my first gen two and my last. The 130/90-16 front tire does help.

Ok, I haven’t used my Bluetooth in quite some time on my car, pickup, or my Venture, I have XM radio on all of them. I just went and checked, you are right not one of them work. BUT, I deleted them from my Bluetooth lineup on my iPhone, then repaired it to them and they work perfectly. Try that. also a little research and you can use what is called iMazing to load music to any apple device, and it is drag and drop, without using iTunes.

Just checked mine. My iTunes level is 12.8.2.3. I uploaded probably 2-3 weeks ago, and all mine still works. I looked on Google and it appears there are problems. Did you look here for a resolution? Did you un-pair the device then re-pair? I’ve had to do that. So what you’re saying is, once you update to iTunes 12, then load music, it will no longer communicate with my Bluetooth adapter?? what about the one on my car and pickup?? They’re Bluetooth also. I’m not taking a chance till I research this. thank you for the heads up. Bill

I have one of these Bluetooth adapters that I mounted Unser my faring. Then plugged it in to the audio input with an adapter. I also have an old iPhone 4 that I wiped clean and filled with music. Bluetooth works perfectly. Everyone I’ve talked to really likes them. But I’ll have to ride one before I get one. And yes, I want a 2014 or later.

Does anyone here own or ride a Can Am Spyder? The older I get the worse my old knees are getting. I’m not gonna stop riding. Just checking my options.

I too have never heard of one cratering. Not saying they won’t. I’ve put over 150k on two of the gen two’s and two of the gen ones. Didn’t even use any oil. Good luck with the engine swap. And yes they will interchange. Bill

I also have bought several guns on line. But all I’ve ever sent to the seller, is the price of the gun plus shipping, and the phone number and address of my FFL dealer. I would talk to your FFL dealer and get his opinion on that. Bill

Chem Dip is the absolute best. It will make the carbs like new again. I have a gallon bucket of it that came with a basket to hold parts. Take the carbs apart, soak them from 4-12 hours, depending. But you’re absolutely right about rubber parts. It will destroy them.

Wish you were closer, we’d do it together for free. FYI, if the low speed jets are stopped up, you can add stuff to the fuel forever and it will NEVER unstop those jets. They have to be removed and cleaned, or replaced. I’ve been doing this over 50 years, it’s never gonna happen.

Just FYI, you can get an App in the App Store or play store called Babbitt’s for your phone or tablet. You can get parts for all the major brands, except Harley. So far they’ve had everything I’ve ever needed at competitive prices to everyone else. I just ordered a front brake master cylinder kit last week. Already got it and installed it.

And remember, it will be expensive, but you can run Sea Foam 50/50.

That’s my concern too. Rubbing and scratching the paint. But I guess as long as it’s on, who’s gonna know?

I have two cb’s and one controller for the gen one Venture. I have no idea if they work. I got them when I was riding the gen ones for spares, but never needed them. Anyone who wants them can have them, just pay the shipping.

I hate the shim and bucket setup. I started doing those in the late 70’s on the Honda CBX and the 750’s. They do seem to stay adjusted longer, but a big PITA when having to adjust them.

Absolutely no reason for changing the plugs more often than 50-60k miles. Waste of money to do so with no benefits whatsoever.

I do remember us discussing about how ludicrous it was to build this engine without hydraulic lifters. But I think that was before the bike was out and that’s what the owners manual said. But the FSM states hydraulic lifters and there are no adjustments.
