  1. I had a similar experience. Stopped at the grocery store where Erika was going to just run in quick for something. She knows that because of the size of my truck I always park at the back of the lot so I can hog 2 spaces and not upset to many people. Well she went into the store and I was parked in a place where I could see the checkouts, so when I saw her getting done I tried to be a nice guy and pulled right up to the door for her. As she came out the door she gave me a dirty look because my truck was blocking her path to the parking lot, she walked around my truck and headed up the isle to where I normally park. Sooo being the nice guy that I am I followed about 10 feet behind her all of the way to the back of the lot where she was getting visibly POed that I was not there. She did not realize I was right behind her till she turned around to head back to the store since it was a little drizzly out. She almost walked into the front of the truck before she realized it was me. I could not help but to be laughing out loud, She got me to quit laughing quick enough... I didn't think my truck was that hard to see........
  2. It is common for that connector to melt. It does not mean that the stator is going bad. It happens when you get some corrosion on the contacts causing a bad connection. The bad connection then generates heat. Enough heat to melt the connector housing. Most people just eliminate the connector and solder the wires together, and cover each connection with shrink tubing.
  3. Fortunately mine is frozen in the RES position, I have no reason to ever try to move it.
  4. It looks like a shiny spot on the sides of 2 of the teeth on the broken section, Like someone was prying on it or whacked it with a hammer. I have no clue as to why you would have to do either. I do not know which rebuild kits on ebay you are referring to. You will need 3 gaskets to put this back together. You can NOT just use a liquid gasket, you need the gasket thickness for proper internal clearances. Side cover gasket Middle gear cover gasket Crush washer. As long as that cover is off take a good look at the stator, if any of the coils look burnt, now is the time to replace it.
  5. Once upon a time, I thought there was a traveling seal driver floating around. Anyone know who ended up with it? I think it was Bob Myers that made it?
  6. How many demerits are there for trading a Venture for a hardley?
  7. Some how I do not think she was "patiently" waiting....... Although it is a smidgen harder to notice someone missing from the back of a van than from the back of a bike........
  8. So since 2 negatives make a positive, does that mean you just gave him a brownie point? Along with brownie points is the requirement that you supply brownies ala-mode.
  9. I think I have the second starter clutch that Dano did. Money well spent.
  10. A bad ground would not cause the starter to draw "massive" amps. It would have the opposite effect. While you are removing the starter, and have things apart, get a wrench on the end of the crankshaft to be sure that the engine is able to turn over freely. If you are going to replace the starter, make sure you are replacing it with a 4 brush starter.
  11. FWIW, I am not getting any such messages using Fire Fox on XP Pro, SP 2.
  12. The machine gun sounding solenoid is almost always due to low voltage. This can be from a bad or low battery, or a bad connection anywhere in the system. Another quick and easy test. Use a jumper cable from battery POS, to cable connection on starter motor. This bypasses the solenoid to see if the starter cranks normally. Have a volt meter across the batter during this test. If battery drops below 9V you may have a bad battery. I connect to the starter first and the final connection to the battery just so that I am not under it when it cranks, and so that the arcing does not melt the threads on the starter stud. CAUTION - This also bypasses ALL safeties on the bike, It will turn over in gear, clutch engaged, whatever. This is best done on the center stand so that the back wheel is off the ground for safety.
  13. A stock venture will be well into valve float before it gets to 10K. Are you sure it was a rev limiter that you hit and not just valve float?
  14. :sign yeah that:
  15. Depending on how bad it is dented, the dent wizard type places can work magic for a lot less than a body shop.
  16. Pillon must have been in heat.........
  17. Glad the system worked the way it was supposed to work.
  18. Love it when a plan comes together.
  19. What is going right in Illinois???? At $75 per pee, I'm glad there are not more wardens in the state parks.....
  20. Let me know before you start, there are new LEDs coming out all of the time, there are better ones out now than what I used.
  21. Here is the link to all of the LED lights in the Platinum Burner series. http://www.optronicsinc.com/driving-new.html Which one did you get?
  22. That certainly took a set to fly all of the way over that big puddle up there. Especially since they already had it won before they started over the lake.
  23. Then there is the issue of if a buyer got a really good deal they are accused of ripping off the seller, if the buyer paid a high price then the seller is accused of ripping off the buyer. I have seen it happen, it only makes for hard feelings down the road. When I buy something expensive the sale price is something that I do not like to talk about, good or bad. If the deal was made it was a price that both parties felt was a good enough deal at the time.
  24. The way you will want to hook them up is to; Connect a wire to the low beam side of headlight. Other end of this wire to your switch. Other side of switch to the coil of your relay (85) Other side of the relay coil (86) to ground. Connect from the battery to a fuse. Other side of fuse to the relay (30) Other side of relay (87) to the lights positive wire other side of lights to ground. This will work so that the Burners will turn off with the hi beam, your switch will still decide if you want them active or off. and because it is powered from the headlight there will never be a chance to leave them turned on because the will turn off when the headlight turns off. I have extra lights on every vehicle I have ever owned, I have never yet wired one up to turn off with the hi beams. But then Wisconsin does not have a vehicle inspection program. In 40 years and over 1 million miles of driving, I have never been stopped or even questioned about it. You could wire it so that it would be simple to switch a wire for your inspection rather than remove everything every year. If I need the hi beam I am wanting as much light as I can get. The driving lights that I have are angled out to light up the ditches and not much light forward. Just because I turned on the hi beam does not mean that I no longer want to see deer coming out of the ditch.
  25. I think we are all in agreement, It is the seller that was not clear in how he worded his statement.
